People are surprised by how brutal Shanks is being but forget that since the very beginning of the series when he saved Luffy from the mountain bandits as a kid, that if you hurt his friends he will make you pay and with his future sight he saw how many of his friends were either injured or killed by Kids attack.

Kids biggest mistake was going for the allies instead of Shanks. Shanks would have done a 1v1 or a crew vs crew and be mercifull and less severe but the second he saw that Kid would just kill all the weaklings under Shanks protection was the moment Kids fate was sealed. Since day 1 Shanks showed that he does not care what you do to him but going after his friends is where he draws the line. This also shows you how powerfull Shanks and his crew is, they have the weakest fleet of all Yonkos including Buggies but still hold their own and protect their territories.

Silver Lining is Kid didn’t have to hear his crew giving Shanks their Road Ponyglyphs. Hard to imagine the Straw Hats doing the same if it happened to them.

After 25+ years, this man finally moved a muscle.

Shanks didn't even hit killer directly and he still managed to knock the smile off his face.

It doesn't matter if Shanks only has one arm. He just showed again how powerful he can really be as an emperor. Using his old captain's technique is a nice reference and very fitting for Shanks. last but not least: DIVINE DEPARTURE!

To help clarify a bit for the reason why right before Shanks hit Kid with Divine Departure (which I still think is cool that Shanks learned Roger's slash attack) he appeared in an Aura of a Red Griffin, the name of Shank's Saber-sword is called Gryphon {there are different name-spelling iteration-variations of the mythical eagle-lion beast, but they all mean the same}

I was kinda sad with Shanks with how he didn't let them go after they surrendered, but then when Dory and Broggy said you don't threaten someone's home without being expected to be attacked too. I remembered the scene with the bandits and lucky roo. How guns aren't meant for threats and should be for killing. That's who Shanks is as a pirate.

Poor Kid. Went through all that just for Shanks to take him seriously 😂

Kid is in many ways a parallel to Luffy, but unlike Luffy, Kid just always assumed his friends to be granted and he expected them to be ready to sacrifice themselves for his dream. This is the point of showing that moment with Kid and Killer, which is why it hurts: Kid actually realizes his careless actions were at the detriment of his friends and crew members. At least that’s a way one could interpret this scene.

I like how her chair has a fabric over it with drawings that resemble the sun and G5 eyes, which both appeared in this episode in the Hakoku Sovereignty attack from the giants and in Shanks future sight eyes

I think Shanks gets his ruthlessness from Roger. Roger destroyed anyone who attacked his crew. Kid and his crew wanted to kill Shanks' allies and Shanks responded.

If somebody didn't got it.. When Kid activated his Laser, this was Shanks observation haki/future sight. He's far better than Katakuri and Luffy, because he can look several seconds/minutes. And he could see what would happen, when Kid was going to attack The bird/griffin was used as a metaphor for his attack, because the name of his sword is Gryphon Divine Departure was the attack of Gold Roger, he used it in Odens flashback, when he met Oden for the first time and sent him flying several 100 meters

To paraphrase one of my favorite lines from the Dresden Files, "You don't become a Yonko by collecting bottle caps." Shanks is basically his generation's version of Luffy. Yeah he's this kind-hearted goober who everyone loves, but mess with his nakama and you are in for a world of hurt.

This just goes to show that both law and kid bountys were overestimated while luffys is DREaDFULLY UNDERESTIMATED. kid and law needed to work together to bring down big mom. Also kid and law both didnt train they just went straight ahead into the new world unlike luffy who got his training arc. This moment was pretty wild in the manga.

In Shanks’s defense, he just defended himself and his people, and the fact of the last attack against the ship was because Kid wants to kill a friend of the Giants Dorry and Brogy (Shanks)

Idk if i only saw that but this episode was also a good representation of what Zoro said a long time ago when Usopp left the crew in Water 7, he said something about, If the Captain goes down then the whole crew goes down, if the Captain of a crew cannot be strong, then the crew won’t be either, it shows that the Captain has great influence on their crew where Kid was excited, it was making his crew excited as well, when Kid was down, being the captain, the crew knew they were already defeated no matter if they try to fight or not

Man, the way that Shanks was running and how he swung from the rope of a ship mast, the animators really just went full swashbuckler with him this episode.

Kidd really had the worst luck, got betrayed by Apoo to then being a slave to Kaido's prison which lead to Killer eating a smile fruit, to then get destroyed by Shanks, I have a feeling he's alive but in extreme coma condition and cannot fight anymore and can only just watch the world change
