How can I be so optimistic when everything's falling apart?
In this video, I wanted to address the innate, completely natural, universally present "Catastrophic Glitch" that exists in every human mind.
Since your imagination is literally infinite... and you have evolved to focus on noticing potential dangers first (so you can find ways to avoid those dangers)... your brain is prone to "doom spiraling" when confronted with future scenarios that are beyond your imagination horizon.
Here's how to reframe those fears and worries, and some simple insights that can help you see how to survive and THRIVE in the years ahead.

How are you feeling about the future? Are you doom spiraling? Are you super optimistic? How are you handling your feelings of it? Let me know in the comments!

I spent my life in the manufacturing realm. The changes seen there in the last 50 years give a great example of growth and decline. Growth in those willing to embrace the change and learn the skills required to progress and demise to those standing firm in belief that their skill should be all that is needed for life. If you are not a lifelong learner and excited about change, it will hit hard. It all boils down to the fact that SHIFT HAPPENS! You can try to fight the wave and be pummeled by it, or you can catch that wave and be sitting on top of the world.

I completely agree with you, Jeff. I'm excited about the future. Of course change is scary but it's also necessary for human happiness as it allows for growth and evolution. I'm embracing the changes, and I think AI is something to view with optimism, even for those of us who value creativity. I'm already shifting my perspective on future projects to adapt to the AI revolution which is upon us, and I think it will actually lead to even greater artistic accomplishments for a lot of people.

Thank you for another great video! Embracing change has always been a key to survival for humans . As a child, I pondered the future, yearning to witness it. And here we are, all journeying into the future together. A weekly dose of captivating sci-fi stories is my dream. The film industry struggles to keep pace with our appetite for quality content. Let's face it; most productions miss the mark. Crafting a movie is a monumental task due to countless technical hurdles. Many industry insiders crave a streamlined process, focusing on storytelling and directing over financing and years of toil for uncertain outcomes. While the future remains uncertain, I believe that advancements in technology will elevate filmmaking and society as a whole.

Totally agree. And an under appreciated aspect of all this. Since we’ll be able to create stories faster (and better), we’ll be able to capture changes and imagine scenarios born of the moment. It currently takes one to five years to make a major feature film in Hollywood - it’s hard to predict the relevance of a project that far out. Being able to make films in a matter of months will help us go much deeper and into the nuances of our world through the immediacy of our stories. There is just so much opportunity, it’s hard to fathom.

I'm not worried about AI lol. I have a Pressman's education - in that industry, people stopped reading books and started watching TV instead and everyone went "I guess print is dead now"- yeah no, it is still very much alive and well, even a small country like mine has several dozen press companies - the industry did perhaps shrink with the decline of books but there are still very very many other things that are printed that people don't even think about (packaging, etiquettes, banners, t-shirts, even circuit boards and x-ray plates, just to name a few) and not to mention books still exist and are probably not ever going away. Even Serigraphy, the most old fashioned technology, still exists and is valued. So now AI comes in and can do a bunch of things... ok. The movie industry will adapt, not disappear. And even though some percentage of people may be fine with watching a movie made by a program, there will also be people who want to watch something by human hands, just like there are people who want to read books... and regardless of all that, I always have and always will write because that's my passion and I know nothing will discourage me from that, even if the whole world around me gets replaced by code

I walked past a film set this morning and stop to stare. Then I thought, dang, look at all these people who will no longer be needed.

That’s funny. As I walk past a film set, my thought is, dang, look at all these people who will finally make the movies in their hearts. They might not be needed on a film set the way we used to make films in the early 20s, but how exciting that they’ll be wanted - in demand, even - for their unique voices and the stories only they can tell, in the very near future.
