My father has hunted and eaten every squirrel he’s ever killed. He’s 78 now and has always kept meticulous records. He’s killed over 4,000 squirrels and just killed his 100th whitetail. He retired from deer hunting but still chases squirrels 🐿️

I'm a Park Ranger, so I can scout everyday. I live a half a mile from the park. I'm blessed beyond words. The park is 2,000 acres. Yet, I haven't killed a nice buck in 3 years; I've been strictly mobile hunting since 2021. It's a whole different game hunting big bucks; despite my effort I still have a long way to go.

I'm from deep South Louisiana and I stumbled across your content on a hunting forum right before the start of this hunting season. I found your KZfaq channel and started watching it religiously and taking notes. After taking a bunch of your advise and a lot of scouting I took my best buck to date on our lease. I found some beds in an area were we have never hunted and ended up killing a real nice 10 point on my first morning hunt in the new location. We haven't had that deer on came for over a month in our normal areas. Thanks for all the tips!

Clark County has lots of Amish folks. Some hunt by the rules, some don't. I suspect heavy, heavy deer harvest pressure is the issue in that area.

I've been hunting Clark County WI public for a good many years. It's really been tough the last few years. The county has been selling the timber and huge areas are being clear cut. It's forcing hunters into areas that usually I would have to myself. I still have a few areas, but have been going to neighboring counties for better opportunities.

Hey Dan, that was a weather collection device you guys found in the tree. I found one here in North Carolina several years ago that had apparently just fallen. It had instructions from NOAA National Weather Service where to mail it back for them to collect the data it captured. It was a pretty cool find. I still have pictures of it buck can't attach any here.

I had to buy a new freezer because i filled the first one. Now i meed a third for taxidermy! I shot nine deer this year! Your videos help me feed my family. I haven’t bought ground meat from a grocery store in three deer seasons. I cant express how much I appreciate you Dan! -thanks from Michigan

I am 41 years old and have never found a shed in my life. Big woods northern MN and figured I never would, I always thought the wolves ate the sheds. But yesterday doing spring scouting I found a set of sheds from a nice 8 pointer, 3-4 years old! Then I found a dead head from a nice 8 pointer! That was really cool, trophies for me! Scouting was good too

Cover is everything to a buck that hits 4 or 5. When leaves fall in some areas it's all but over. Doesn't mean the hunt is over but u need options just like u need to prep areas this time of year. I made a couple of webbed straps. The clips r made from a 3D printer as well as the bow holder. It weighs less than that screw in peg in that tree. Plus u can store it in a pocket or pack w/o poking yourself. One for larger 🌳 & one for smaller. On the larger strap where I have more cover in a larger 🌳 that is very busy with branches & I have 3 accessory clips & a bow clip that I stealth stripped that come on & off. In a large, busy 🌳 I will have more camera gear. I have no confidence in hunting telephone pole trees @ close range. There is always an exception & my exception is getting into poplar 🌳 that r surrounded by very bushy red oaks. They usually have junctions where the deer r moving both north to south & west to east. Much higher chance of getting close w/o blowing your ambush spot. More like rut funnel spots since the north to south movement is predominantly female.😮

I love the scouting vids as much as the hunting ones...so true with snow cover in winter.Gun hunt in No. Mn, the places where you hunt and see deer may have no tracks at all...find one deer and find many .Food plus cover makes them move. And, you may not see the sign you are looking for, but, you can always learn something.Finally, squirrels probably dont live long anyway, they taste just like chicken...well maybe tough chicken.👍

Your statement about "the hitman" is exactly how I feel. Most people think that hunters are evil, kill-crazy people but eat beef, pork, and chicken that someone else killed for them. They don't mind someone else getting the "black marks" for killing something but they never would do it themselves.

Agreed, there are some bucks there somewhere, but covering the distance we covered and not finding one mature buck rub means it will be a task to find a deer to go after. They are there, and with work can be found, but its going to be a lot more work than other areas.
@dylantackes5337

@@thehuntingbeast I suppose when you have mastered your primary areas close to home where there is alot of sign and you know there’s mature bucks around it’s hard to want to go somewhere where the sign isn’t as concentrated. Going up there is almost like an out of state hunt you have to drive far spend more money cover more ground and there’s time between trips so it’s harder to stay in em when they shift. I’ve never hunted by you but live prolly 45 minutes north. Our area here seems to have 100x the pressure I see up there, however up there it’s bears wolfs and there seems to be tons of cover and food for miles. I know there’s big ones in both areas I just fell in love with the big woods since I was 12 I knew it was more challenging I was intimidated for years. I didn’t think it was possible to find big bucks consistently until I came across your videos. I was young and dumb and thought I had it figured out. Half way thru the first video of yours I seen I was quickly humbled and realized I didn’t know shit. Me and many others greatly appreciate having much success thanks to you. Really helped me in accepting the challenge and not only becoming a better hunter and woodsman but just a man in general. IT AINT EASY BEIN BEASTY. Been watching many years now and look forward to the upcoming content. Good luck to you and the entire beast crew!

Originally from Asia, the emerald ash borer was first discovered in the Detroit area in 2002. It is believed to have entered the country on wooden packing materials from China. The bright metallic-green beetle may be smaller than a dime, but it is capable of taking down ash trees thousands of times its size. Adults are typically ½ inch long and ⅛ inch wide.
