I'd love to see a video on how you handle technology with your kids: how Gabb phones work, what ages you give them, time restrictions, etc. Do they get an allotted screen time each week/day? Do you have tablets? What apps do they use? Etc. Etc. Etc.

I think Priya came to the age where she would appreciate some nicer-sentimental type jewelry. You can get pretty much any ring/necklace/bracelet engraved with either her initials or something important. And it's fairly affordable, regarding it's usage and moral value.

My 12 year old daughter is the same way this year. She is an artist and only wants art supplies and clothes. No “big” gifts. So I’m giving her a pricey gift card to Blick’s for more art supplies when needed.

My niece who is 11 bless her heart has always been the same way! She is so hard to shop for. I try to find something unique every time with something she loves. I kind of struck gold last year and gave myself a very difficult job this year of living up to it. But I gave her a cup with pictures of her dog she loves so much. She doesn’t show emotions type of person and cried. That was the gift I couldn’t wait to give last year and it didn’t disappoint for sure.

The fact that you even got each of your kids even one thing that they wanted is amazing, but the fact that you got them several things that they each wanted is even more amazing! My mom never went out of her way to try to get me anything I WANTED. & I love that even though you're frugal, you still Understand that like your oldest son wants name brands and ISO k with getting less gifts or other less expensive gifts.If it means he gets some of the things he wants. I just asked one year to be able to get clothes that werent from the family dollar (because I know kids were judging me) even if it keant i only got 1 outfit, & although my mother & stepdad had more than enough income to be able to afford nake brands, she wouldn't do it.

U prioritize yor life so that u can give yor kids this joy during the holidays. It is soo great. & I don't feel like it is spoiling them @ all. It isn't just stuff for stuff's sake & to shwr them & overwhelm them. They r all meaningful gifts that will bring a lot of great memories to yor kids & fam.

Agree. Doing a great job momma! Remember - life is not fair or equal. So, you keep doing what God shows you for each and with Him as their center- they will be best equipped to adjust and flex as normal “stuff” of life happens. Also- good learning for hard to buy pp- likely thoughtful or time related memory gifts will be special in hindsight. Very well done mom and dad.

Actually really enjoyed this video so much. I got so many different ideas from it. I always wish people would sit down and show everything they get for each person, even everyone outside of the immediate family (would love to see from you also). I struggle with overthinking gifts and it stresses me out every year. Gift guides are helpful but then I wonder how many items for each person, what items go together, how much to spend, and what of those items people actually purchase and give. This visual was amazing even though I only have 2 kids! Thanks for your transparency. Would enjoy seeing exact prices next year. I think the more detail, the more relatable.

Sister Page, way don't you surprise your twelve-year-old daughter with a mother and daughter trip. As she gets older, she's gonna find things like this very special and endearing. She will remember this special gift that you gave her for christmas. Also, give your older children journals that they can write about the things that are special in their life and things that they would like to remember. They have great books for your twelve and thirteen year old about investments and saving money, these are other great gifs to give them. Little things like this make it even more special for your older children. You and your husband are great parents and you're doing a great job.❤🎉

10 gifts per kid? 😲 We got 2-3 gifts when I was a kid, and Christmas was magical. Ten seems so excessive…especially for someone who supposedly teaches frugal living.
@milumav
@milumav 6 ай бұрын
It's Christmas! From what I've seen kids usually get many presents and stocking stuffers. Unless you're in a serious finacial hole, Christmas is a time of plenty, a time for splurging which is why it's traditionally associated with feasts, decadent treats, desserts and celebrations, (a small reprieve from the cold, isolation and darkness that is winter). Our entire family, and friends were in no way wealthy, but us kids always got 10-12 presents a year, plus stocking stuffers. In fact, in my household growing up if our birthday list got a little excessive, my parents would ask us to scale it down a bit because: "It's not Christmas", (i.e: it's not splurging time). Budgeting and frugality is not the same thing as poverty. Budgeting is a way of not wasting money so you have it to spend on the things you personally consider important and valuable, like splurging on your children once a year at Christmas, so you can enjoy the experience of watching the joy and excitement on their faces as they open their presents on Christmas morning. Your experience may have been different and that's completely fine, but there is absolutely nothing wrong or abnormal with parents showering their kids with presents and goodies at Christmas. All the best to you and yours in the New Year.
@sianp5227
@sianp5227 5 ай бұрын
I've seen people spend hundreds if not thousands, these people earn good money, don't rely on the state to pay for their many kids, and most of the gifts are small after their main two. You just sound jealous and judgemental

Jordan, the boys can buy a 1 year Nintendo family subscription with the gift cards so they each have a profile and can save and have access to a vast array of games for the switch! They have games from the original 64, Game Boy, Game Boy Advance and I believe Sega Genesis also. My son has this (just for himself, not the family plan since we dont use it very much). How exciting for them. 😊 If they ever have joy con issues, Nintendo fixes them for free. They will even send you a mailing label to mail them in, fix it, and return them to you. Have a merry Christmas!

Use your budgeting skills and remember fair but not equal as kids grow. Also- they don’t buy at will through the year “just cuz” gifts like some. But everyone’s kids and appreciation levels are different too. Keep everything in perspective. If you hear at the end- she explains it’s NOT every year. They do a family thing one year - gifts the next. Point is- find out your children’s INTERESTS and help develop w/fun and educational as well as shareable gifts.

10 is a normal amount of gifts for each child. One year I did a join Christmas with a friend. She had 2 young girl, I had 2 older boys. I did about 10 gifts - 2 nice sweatshirts, 4 themed items from their favorite show, new headphones, pajamas, robe, candy treats, $25 gift card. My friend? Each kid must have had 30 gifts.... took up half the living room! My kids felt some type of way about it, but we just can't really afford it - Thanksgiving, birthdays, traveling, entertaining, that takes most of the budget. 🤷‍♀️ they get whatever they need in the year too, like the rule that if a game is on-sale on the Xbox, they don't have to ask, if it's under $20 and worth more than $29, they can just order it and if the card goes through, its fine! I also pay their subscriptions through the year like for my son's anime, roadblocks, etc. Versus a lot of parents don't allow those subscriptions, and we traveled anywhere from twice a month to every 3 months for at least a weekend, sometimes longer during covid when we homeschooled, and many families only take a trip once every 2 or 3 years! So for me, I gave less gifts for Christmas and usually no gifts for birthdays once child is 9 - they got a meal out, cake, balloons, family time, and a new shirt or outfit for that day 🤷‍♀️ I was a single mom. Their dad would buy them 1 large thing they needed. I'm now remarried and trying desperately to conceive with my wife - this baby will have 2 incomes instead of 1, and 2 different people buying gifts! So I'm sure even as an older child, it'll be more gifts, but we live In sort of a small house, the rooms are small but we have 3 bedrooms for what will be 1 child - so I think my spouse will keep that in mind when purchasing items! A lot of times we will get things for outside. That, too, when I did have kids (my older boys moved out somewhat recently to get to know their dad) we went more overboard for Easter (outdoor toys, usually a trip, out to eat if not, new outfit, egg hunt, lots of "gifts" in basket that were not just candy or a stuffy) because it's around tax time - it made more sense that way. Easter was a bigger celebration because it was just more financially responsible and most people feel the burn most around Christmas.

Do a mother/daughter day out maybe to the movies, or to the salon. A 12 year girl would love to do that with her mom. If only my mom was still here to do things like that again. I miss her so...
