after jungle inferno a few things changed 1. the reserve shooter no longer works with airblast instead needing explosives, grappling hooks or the jetpack to work. 2. a set of new items for the pyro were released these being a. the dragond fury - a single shot flamethrower with a stronger DPS for more accuracy but a worse airblast interval b. the thermal thruster - a jetpack that can contain 2 charges that can send the pyro flying but takes 15 second to recharge just 1 c. the gas passer - a can of gas that acts as an area denial tool that takes either 60s or 750 damage to charge but cannot be charged with the supply locker or ammo packs making it worthless outside of MvM d. the hot hand - a meme weapon that does less damage and takes 2 hits to do maximum damage and gives you a speed boost and hit icon everytime you hit an enemy (this is also fairly worthless) 3. that airbast and flame particles were changed to give people more control in the air by using a cone and more constistent particles that no longer depend on your wifi connection and ping

The reserve shooter got nerfed hard in Jungle Inferno. Nowadays, getting hit by pyros airblast no longer counts as being airborne for the reserve shooter's mini-crit mechanic. So now you'll only really see it on pyros who hate soldiers or soldiers with good rocket placement.

Funfact:reserve shooter could mini crit in the air in the past but after some updates,pyro could no longer get those mini crits

Reserve shooter is nerfed, doesnt work anymore off from airblast, but yeah it was pretty obnoxious when it worked lol Edit : If you are wondering the reserver shooter allows you to get minicrits (1.5x damage) on targets that were launched by explosions or airblast , this meant that pyro's who airblast someone could have a guarented minicrit close range shot (plus the weapon also had a faster switch and holster speed and if you paired it with the degreaser which also had switch and holster speed bonuses, those two combinations of switching speed can stack, so the victim in this case being stunned in the air couldnt do much aside of try to kill the pyro, while the pyro has a guaranteed 2 shotgun shots at close range that dealt 1.5x damage) This could allow you to basically killed any class under 150 health cuz your shots usually dealt from 72-95 damage :)

i'm gonna explain a few of the weapons: The scorch shot is a flaregun that explodes when it hits anything similar to rocket launcher splash damage, it lights anyone who gets hit by the blast on fire but it's pathetically weak. The Phlog is a flamethrower that cannot airblast, but instead as you damage enemies it builds up a meter, then when you taunt with the meter full, if ubers you for just a moment, then gives you crits for until the meter runs out. it used to be much, much stronger. The homewrecker is a melee weapon that does less damage to players, but can destroy spy sappers off of engineer buildings in just one swing. The back scratcher i believe does more damage than the usual melee weapons + it makes it so that medkits heal you *more* health, but medics and dispensers *barely* heal you at all. The Axetinguisher and Postal Pummler do less damage from what i remember, but it's a guaranteed critical hit if you use it on a player who is on fire. The backburner can only airblast like 4 times, but does critical hits everytime you burn someones back. The Neon Annihlator does a critical hit on any player who is wet, whether they are in the water, or are hit by mad milk or jarate. The third degree does damage to all medics that are healing whoever gets hit by the third degree. Nowadays, the stock flamethrower is the most used regular flamethrower. The Nostromo Napalmer does bonus damage to any scouts wearing the xenomorph cosmetics, both the xenomorph cosmetics and the Napalmer were added to the game as a special crossover promotion for Alien Isolation. The powerjack gives the pyro more movement speed when you are holding it, however you take more damage from all sources overall by just having it equipped.

Before jungle inferno, the pyros airblast is a actual stun as you get launched directly into the air without any momentum to get out, and the reserve shooter grants you a guranteed minicrit with someone airblasted in the air. So basically, you are punished with basically 125 dmg for existing. The third degree when dealing damage, it also deals damage to medics healing them.

The Reserve Shooter has less ammo (4 before reloading rather than 6) than the default shotgun but switching to the Reserve Shooter is faster and it deals mini crit damage on enemies blast jumping (rocket jumping, sticky jumping, etc). It used to deal mini crits on enemies airborne from an airblast, but obviously it's way too easy to airblast someone and combo them with the Reserve Shooter when they can't even do much about it, so that was removed. This video was made before that stat about the weapon was changed though, so you were seen as an a-hole if you used it.

The backburner will always crit from behind, but it’s airblast costs 50 fuel instead of 20 Degreaser comes out 60% faster and holsters 30% faster, allowing for quicker melee or flaregun combos, but it does 66% less afterburn damage and it’s airblasts cost 25 fuel instead of 20 phlogistinator has a meter that fills by dealing damage, and when it's full, you can taunt to activate it, ubering you until the taunt is done and then proceeding to make every hit from it a crit, downside is you can't airblast flare gun is the standard of the flare guns, but this one will crit whenever it hits a burning enemy while the next 2 mini crit detonator deals 25% less damage, but you can right click after firing one to make it explode mid air, allowing you to hit multiple enemies and even let you do a mini rocket jump scorch shot does 35% less damage, but each shot does splash damage, has knockback, and a unique taunt kill called 'executioner' (the other 3 have the 'hadouken' taunt kill) manmelter has unlimted ammo, it's shots move 50% faster, and it has an 'airblast' that only has the extinguish function and every extinguish stores a crit (up to 35), but it's reload is way longer then the others and will not always crit or mini crit on burning targets like the others axtinguisher deals 33% less damage and holsters 35% slower, but it will always mini crit burning targets and will give you a 35% movement speed boost if you kill a burning target with it postal pummeler is a reskin of axtinguisher homewrecker deals 25% less damage to players, but it deals double damage to buildings and can destroy sappers powerjack gives 25 health on kill and gives 15% bonus move speed while holding it, but you take 20% more damage while holding it too back scratcher deals 25% more damage and makes health packs heal for more, but makes you receive 75% slower healing from all other sources sharpened volcano fragment deals 25% less damage, but it will ignite people on hit (this was also a reward for preordering 'RIFT' before march 1st 2011) neon annihilator deals 20% less damage, but it will always crit enemies covered in jarate/mad milk or standing in water since it electrocutes them, plus this can remove sappers like the homewrecker third degree will damage not only the target but also anyone healing the target, and it's basically better fireaxe since there's no downside

The thing with the reserve shooter is outdated. It used to do mini crits to airborne players. But it got nerves now it only deals mini crits to players launched by projectiles. As Pyro, you can only use that against Rocket Jumping Soldiers and Sticky Jumping Demos. It also works if you launch somebody with your Rocket as Soldier, but it takes a lot of skill and in the time you would learn that you could just train airshots because that makes a lot more damage.

Reserve Shooter used to do minicrits on airborne targets in general, so Pyros would airblast an enemy (which used to be a stun lock) and shoot them, which did a big burst of damage with hitscan, combined with it airblast just being a stun lock, made it infuriating to fight against. Recently they nerfed it so that targets sent airborne by jetpacks or explosives would be minicrit, essentially making the reserve shooter useless on pyro unless they're fighting a Trolldier.

I haven’t finished the video but the reason people hate the reserve shooter for pyro but respect it for soldier is do the the fact it minicrits while the enemy in the air. Doing this is difficult for soldier because he has to have good rocket placement and automatically switch to his shotgun. But pyros can launch people into the air at any time. pretty high up too and switch to the reserve shooter. They usually combo with fire so it’s always an instant kill

the degreaser has a faster switch to and from stat that makes it great for comboing and faster reactions (it was a lot better before its nerf in tough break?)

since these weapons were added after the pyro update, let me tell you the stereotypes: dragon's fury: since to use this flamethrower you need to actually aim your shots, people that use this are tired of being called a wm1. the jetpack: this guy is probably using it with the backburner so he can flank, but expect this guy to fly to the sniper desk in 2fort, i guarantee everytime you see a pyro with the jetpack in 2fort, they are going for a kill in the sniper desk

Incase you didn't know duck. The reserve shooter used to be overpowered as pyro since it gave basically free mini-crits, since all you needed to do was airblast and shoot at them while they were in the air. because of this everyone used it. however Valve made it so that the reserve shooter no longer works with airblast.

Back before the Jungle Inferno update, the Pyros airblast could lock players in place, making it so that the Reserve Shooter, that at the time could also mini-crit players who were airblasted, for relativly cheap feeling combo kills. The Degreeser has a faster switch to, and switch from speed, and the Reserve Shooter has a faster switch to speed to facilitate usage when the nich opportunity shows itself. Their switch speeds stack. Now days people would use the Panic Attack imstead with its whoping 50% faster switch too speed, (faster then the reserve shooter), won't deal mini crits, and the modern airblast can't lock players in place, still a combo use, though, not as good as the old reserve shooter. Okay... that was a mess...

Unfortunately the reserve shooter sketch is outdated because it got nerfed. It used to give you minicrits on air blasted players, but now it only gives minicrits on players launched from rockets.

Panic attack on pyro is super fun in my opinion. Banger speed for combos and no random spread, hell yeah. Also, yes, the third degree damages all players connected via medibeam. It's also the only weapon in the game with zero downsides to using it.

Reserve Shooter used to be a borked weapon. between the degreaser's quick swap out, the reserve's quick swap in and the guaranteed crits it gave to airborne targets, it was a VERY easy puff and sting kill combo. as airblast would largely stun you before the update. Now puff n sting is largely dead outside of flaregun users. Third Degree is basically the stock axe, but if you hit someone being healed by medic, the medic also takes damage.

Degreaser: they actually removed the hitstun, so its much harder to play combo pyro with the flaregun. I personally play dps pyro, degreaser plus panic attack both have decreased switch speed, so if you switch back and forth enough you can basically dual wield Flaregun: like said, it is much more difficult to land the puff and sting combo after the pyro update, so big props to pyros that can actually do it Reserve shooter: it used to be super op, since airblast used to keep you in place, and the reserve shooter minicrit people after they were airblast, well im sure you can guess how bad that was The third degree: It attacks medics through medibeams, its a direct upgrade to stock and its still one of the worst melee weapons in the game.

my favorite pyro secondary is the one that makes the "PEEEW" sound, entirely because it makes that sound

in melee kirby was purposely made fucking horrendus being below the joke character pichu (literally the trophy description says he should be used as a change to let your younger sibling have a chance) and is only above bower (a character so bad his ledge get up attack is his best move)

For the other Pyro weapons after Jungle Inferno, its pretty much this Dragons Fury: *oH gOd PyRo hAs to AiM* But rewarding damage for continuous accuracy is welcome. Combos with the Scorch Shot suprisingly well, dropping everything Demo with no boots and below. Due to repercussion rate, less airblasts. Gas Passer: They played the other classes with throwable substance, and realized this one actually sucks. Thermal Thruster: He is going to jump across the 2fort bridge over and over again expecting to not die to the classic sniper on the battlements. Hot hand: I dont know my Jojo memes, so insert that "za hando" joke here to relevancy. Kind of hurts to see 3/4 are not that good, while the 4th is niche as best. The fact Heavy's *B A N A N* is usually seen better than the actual winner's loot.

*Sigh* Here I go again... Primaries: The Backburner deals crits when you attack from behind, but wastes A LOT fuel when you airblast. The Degreaser deals less damage and wastes more fuel when you airblast, but you can switch off and switch to it faster. The Phlogistinator builds "MMMPH" when dealing damage. On full "MMMPH", pressing Mouse2 makes Pyro taunt, after the end of the taunt, you gain guranteed critical hits for a limited time. This weapon CAN'T AIRBLAST. Secondaries: The Flare Gun deals critical damage to burning players and it instantly reloads when you switch off it after firing. The Reserve Shooter used to deal mini-crits to players who has been airblasted into the air. Thankfully, it has been nerfed for Pyro. The Detonator deals mini-crits to burning players, but deals 25% less damage and 50% more damage to the user. You can also detonate the flare by pressing Mouse2. The Scorch Shot deals mini-crits and larger knockback to burning players. When the flare directly impacts a player, it bounces up and lands on the ground dealing more damage. It deals 35% less damage. The Manmelter can extinguish players which gives 1 guranteed critical hit and its projectiles fly faster. It can't deal random crits. Melee: The Axtinguisher mini-crits and extinguishes burning enemies. The damage depends on how much time left for afterburn to go off. If you kill an enemy like that, you gain a speed boost, but it deals less damage, doesn't randomly crit and holsters slower. The Postal Pummeler is... just, a reskin of the Axringuisher.... Homewrecker deals 100% more damage to buildings, it can destroy sappers, but it deals 25% less damage to players. The Powerjack gives you a speed boost while holding it and restores 25% of your health (it can overheal too), but when you hold it you are more vulnerable to every damage source. The Back Scratcher deals 25% more damage and picking up Medpacks heal you more, but getting healed by Medics is less effective. The Volcano Fragment sets players on fire when you hit them, but it deals 20% less damage. The Neon Annihilator deals crits to players who are wet (In water or recently our of water) and can remove sappers, but it deals less damage to players. The Third Degree deals damage not only to the player, but also the Medic who is healing them or vice versa. Fucking hell, I'm getting tired off doing that^

Did you know The Third Degree has no downsides, Doesn't deal less damage, no slower swing speed, not even "No random critical hits". It's a straight upgrade to The Fire Axe, making it even more useless. The Third Degree is also a TERRIBLE weapon as it teaches players to run face first into a Heavy/Medic combo to make use of its only upside. So, in other words, just use The Powerjack.

The Reserve shooter used to be one of the single most DESPISED weapons in all of TF2 because it was mindlessly easy to use and a really cheap and annoying way to get kills. Here's how it worked and why that stereotype no longer applies to it. The Reserve Shooter has 2 less bullets in the chamber compared to the normal shotgun. In return, you can pull it out 20% faster and (this is the important part) it mini-crits players sent into the air by an explosion or an airblast. A mini-crit is exactly what it sounds like, a hit that deals 1.5X damage rather than 3X the damage. A mini-crit from the Reserve Shooter deals 150 damage, which easily one shots more than half of the classes and two shots all of them! So, the (dumbass easy) strategy to use this thing was as simple as right click with your flamethrower to send the poor soul into the air, switch to your quickly drawn secondary, and annihilate them with a single shot. Thankfully, as of 2017's Jungle Inferno update, the Reserve Shooter no longer mini-crits players sent into the air from an airblast.
