We're often held back by a crippling fear that we can't possibly do certain things because other people will judge us. But for those of us hemmed in by self-consciousness of this kind, there is very good news on the horizon. Amazingly, partly depressingly and partly redemptively, in reality, no one much cares...

“We tend to begin our lives with a deeply unrepresentative experience: that of being surrounded by people who care to an extraordinary extent about us. We look up from the dreams and confusions of early infancy and may find a smiling face or two observing us with the utmost tenderness and concern. They watch us as a rivulet of saliva leaks slowly from the corner of our mouth and rush to wipe it away as if dabbing at a precious canvas, then indulgently stroke the fine soft hairs on our delicate scalps. They declare us close to supernatural when, at last, we succeed in pulling our first smile. The applause rings for days when we take our initial steps, giggle, totter, fall, and bravely try to resume our progress. There is astonishment and beatific praise when we arduously manage to form the letters of our own name. Throughout the early years, the big people intelligently coax us into eating broccoli or peas; they make sure we put on our rubber boots when it’s raining; they dance around with us to our favourite songs, they tuck us up and sing to us when we’re feeling sad or unwell. When we’re anxious, they try very sensitively to find out what might be the matter…”

I used to worry deeply about what is going on in the people’s head about me, but I realized that you cannot achieve your dreams as long as you live in fear of people's opinions and trying to please everyone is stupidity and delusion, but that way of thinking doesn’t mean that you have to hate people and don’t always listen to their opinions.. but you should accept all people despite their differences and their backgrounds because being successful is something and being kind is something else,That was the most important lesson that i learned in 2019

Not caring what other people think is the ultimate freedom, but you have to at least control what you WANT other people to think of you and keep your businesses on the down low. As you are dependent on other people to get where you want to be in life, simply not caring what other people think, saying whatever is on your mind and acting a fool will get you no where. That's just reality.

If only we could consistently treat our lives as the living out of a miracle. For love is always a mirror, love is always honest. Sometimes, on rare occasion, love comes round and says nothing whilst intwined in this preconceived notion of self, And self is projected onto self completely, thoroughly, And solutions are born like plague. On another note I remember when I was 14 years old and this skater boy at the skate park I was sitting at, he was an older one, he was like 18 or 19. Really cute, freckles with a massive white boy ginger afro. Basically one of the cool kids. He came up like "hey' what's your name", he was talking to me. His name was willie. He wasn't being a creep or anything, he saw i was kind of flirting with a guy who was more my age. When I told him my name, he looked at the guy I was talking to (Jeff, who later on became my boyfriend that year and we had sex to 9 inch nails up above it....lol let's just say he was having a lot of fun with that chorus), and he said right in front of me, horrifyingly "she's cute until she's opens up her mouth! Haaaaah!" Round of applause from all the cute skater boys surrounding including a huge chuckle from my buddy Jeff. To this day I'm still really devastated by that comment. This was before I got braces. I'm still struggling to determine if he meant open up my mouth so he could see my teeth and how crooked my smile is due to my asymmetrical facial features or until I start talking and he could hear my monotonous voice and didn't like it. I don't know. This happened in 1994 and I still stress out about it frequently. the irony is Willie became a hardcore meth junkie and he shoots up and he looks like shit. He is literally missing teeth and he's a shell of a human being. It's really sad. On the other hand, not to toot my own horn, I'm kind of like a swan or whatever. LOL yesterday this guy that I like said I have a butt that's going to keep on getting bigger until I'm an old lady and it made me laugh. my butt is like three times thicker than it was when I was 20 and I'm only 42. 🤣 I just replied well at least working out has been building something outta nothing over all these years!

Wayne Green From someone who is 50 and learned things the hard way, I'd say: Don't get into debt; start saving early; if you find someone isn't respectful to you, realize they are not your friend, and it's ok to move away from them, don't waste your time and energy trying to change them; you can't change others, only yourself; say yes to new opportunities, don't be afraid, you can always walk away if it is not for you; take care of your health when you are young, exercise daily and eat as best as you can. Accept yourself for who you are, forgive yourself for any "bad" decisions you may have made and move on. Be honest and direct with people or some will take advantage. That's all I can think of for now. Hopefully you can avoid making unnecessary mistakes and spend more of your time living and enjoying your life. You'll still have your own lessons to learn - that can't and shouldn't be avoided.

I'm a highly sympathetic person and as such I care a lot about other people, more so than about myself. So, using myself as an example, as the video advises, is not a good idea in my case. I've been struggling with loneliness, anxiety and depressive episodes ever since high school. I am now 30 and I'm slowly beginning to realize that most people are just so self-centered and so caught up in their own lives that it doesn't even cross their mind to think about me, including those I consider my friends. It's always me who writes first to check on people, always me who tries to organize meet-ups. I once decided to stop trying and see what would happen. For over two weeks the only living person who contacted me was my mother. The conclusion I reached: most humans are selfish and petty, and I shouldn't bother myself looking for their attention. Cynical and ironic, I know.

same omg. I have also come to terms with the fact that people dont care about me at all as compared to how much they care about their own life. People are never gonna put others needs above their owns like i do, that others are never gonna receprocate how i do with them. It's difficult when you can feel how others would be feeling and their sadness and happiness too. Its natural to compromise our own wellbeing for the sake of others when its more painful to see someone suffering than when we are suffering ourselves. It took 20 yrs of my life to learn this. I feel now that it was only me who got hurt in the process of caring too of others and rather should spend time on my own self, and its the only kind of reciprocation that i will ever get. Because at the end of the day i accepted the fact that people dont feel my feelings, the way i feel theirs.

So being open with friends and family would be the best thing to do, not struggle on your own. You can tell them your worries and etc, and they can tell you theirs. A friend of mine said she felt embarrassed remembering some things she said and did in junior high or something. I told her, sweetheart, no one other than yourself remembers those things. Your ex-peers are much more likely to remember something embarrassing they said or did. My friend is going through some stuff mentally at the moment and honestly I think she is making matters way worse for herself by thinking that other people care that much. One of the most liberating realizations in life is when you realize that, actually, nobody cares. We're all way too self-involved to care.

This truth actually changed my life. I was highly anxious and introverted all the way through to high school "about 17 years old" always worried about what others think. This lead me to never approach anyone for anything. I never joined in on conversations had any girlfriends or even friends. But after realising that no one cared about anything. That I would be just a footnote in a memorie they were bound to forget. That nothing I do in casual day to day life would be remembered or written down. I realised that my issues talking, always thinking I would make a fool of myself, just disappeared and now I can talk freely to anyone anytime with a senserity I don't see often. I've flipped from a hopeless stressed introvert into an extroverted outgoing carefree guy. Honestly I'm happier than I have been my whole life thanks to this change. But I like to pair this with another philosophy. That is, don't attribute to malice what can be explained through ignorance and indifference. Always believe that everyone isn't actively trying to spite you. Give them the benefit of the doubt and because nothing matters just let it go. When you believe that no one cares about you you can realise that no one is targeting you and just accept that when someone does something bad or gets upset with you its not because of you its them dealing with there own issues and you should just let it go

How you can tell if you have anxiety of this type is are you afraid of things you can’t see like a noise in the bushes but then fearless to a scary situation so long as you can see and identify something worthy of being feared by a typical person.

That I smoked pot, I slept with girls, I cut school etc. I wasn't a great kid, but I wasn't all that bad either. However holding that in with extreme embarrassment eventually turned to shame and it gave me nervous disorder really bad at a young age. I never let him see the real me up until he died. I still do that with certain people and it triggers a lingering thing with me. Ren terrible environment? It’s literally how humans have lived for countless millennia. It’s only a VERY recent invention, of how we live today. I’m sure they’d look at you and think you live in a terrible environment where no one cares about you, and you’re alone most of the time. Your environment is always what you make of it.

Once you truly realize that nobody really cares and accept the loneliness that comes with it, life hits differently. There's this calm element that comes with it where you don't really care about other stuff either rather you just want to focus on yourself, do well and then go home and relax. But then again when you relax a bit too much, the thoughts of how lonely you are starts hitting you again. The thought of how nobody is really waiting for you at night nor is there anybody to hangout with during weekends and stuff. Life truly is strange. 90 percent of the time I don't think about it but when I do it hurts I guess.

Strangely I am always studying and consciously dissecting others. I feel like I might be alone in this now that I watch this video. Atleast I hear that overall nobody cares. Now I really feel like I care too much about others and all I can think about is how sad it is that none of them do.

An elegant summary of words but overall it is all about coexisting amongst others we may not know or be accustomed to or even notice. It doesn’t mean we don’t care about one another but that we each have our own roles to play in the lives we live and that our purpose is what should drive us, not what someone else is doing with their life

If only that was true. While not caring on a deeper level, many people do care about what you do, because it clashes with how they view the world, basically making how you live your life their problem. They dont care about your well being but they care about what you project.

Good video. To be honest, I've always known that most people don't really care for me or other people and to be blunt, I don't really care about them. Especially in this day and age where so many people seem so indifferent. They won't even look you in the face and are far too busy walking down the streets constantly looking at they're phones and bring oblivious to they're surroundings.

I do notice things about people and sometimes judge them and I feel like a lot of other people do too. I think a more accurate approach is to stop worrying exactly because someone is still gonna judge you anyway, no matter what you do. There will always be people who just don't like you and it's kind of okay.
