Drove one in high school! True story my dad collected cars and had one of Yenkos 427 69 Camaro SS. My dad was killed in a motorcycle accident and mom gave me the Camaro. I had no idea what I really had but I quickly found out and 40 years later the car is still mine. No amount of money will but this car. If your ever in Ventura county and see a blue Yenko Camaro cruising on the 101 that would be me lol😁👍.

I'm from canonsburg Pennsylvania and had the opportunity to see a few of those cars. Another crazy fact about canonsburg is that it was once considered the most radioactive town in America. I grew up a few houses away from the radiation dump and used to play in there and in the old coal mine as a kid...I can't believe i survived my childhood lol but also, a lot of people I know either have, had or died from cancer. There's a lot of history in this area. I'm pretty sure the uranium from here was used in the atomic bombs dropped in WW2 but I'm not 100% sure.

Fred Gibb convinced chevy to produce an all aluminum Zl1 427. it was called a central office production order (COPO) 9560. The iron block L72 427 Was the COPO 9561, Don Yanko ordered the cars in 6 colors. Rally green, Olympic gold, fathom green, hugger orange, lemans blue and Daytona yellow. @nashvilleoutlaw

Yea let's see those torque numbers 😂😂
@nashvilleoutlaw
@nashvilleoutlaw Жыл бұрын
Horsepower is just a math equation based on torque at rpm. Torque x rpm ÷ 5252 = horsepower. For example 500tq x 4500rpm ÷ 5252 = 428hp at 4,500rpm. Sure it's only 428hp but it's making it at 4,500rpm. Now when you put a bigger cam in you are basically moving the torque curve higher in the rpm range. Move that same 500tq up to 6,500 and you get 618hp. Torque is your actual power, horsepower is just how fast it's applied over time. A well built engine is capable of torque somewhere between 1.3 to 1.5x the ci displacement. 427x1.3=550 easily streetable torque other than it tends to want to break everything behind it lol

Lots of info on Joel Rosen if you search. His Phase III cars came with a guarantee of running 11.50 with a NHRA or AHRA certified driver. Motion Performance sold all kinds of parts and packages for your new GM car. He was the first to put a Big Block in a Vega and dold the headers and associated parts to do it. In 1975, he was in Federal Court charged by the EPA for altering the emmissions of new Vegas with an L88 or L72. He paid a small fine and promised that ehat passed thru his shop was fir competition only. He also digned the sun visor of wvery car modified thru his shop. Motion mostly did Camaros, Corvettes, and Novas but also Biscaynes and Chevelles. That 350 is likely not what was originally in that Corvette. He did build some Green Meanie cars that had 350s with 2 4 bbl catbs on a short intake. The cars were green and built in 69 thru I think 72 or 73.

@@keithlanning7381 I believe he prepped the first one then mostly just sold Yenko parts… him and Yenko sued each other and he eventually went on to help with Fred gibb and the ZL1s.. idk if we can say that they were all “built” by Harrell
