Is this good tax policy, versus a political effort to win swing voters, and how does it compare with Joe Biden's ideas, including his recent proposal to raise the corporate rate to 28%?

Tarrifs are not paid by foreign countries. Tarrifs are paid by the consumer in SALES TAX. A vehicle 🚗 for instance would almost double in price!!!

Everything Trump has proposed will lead to skyrocketing consumer prices. 10% tariff on all imports, a 60% tariff on anything coming out of China, and a 100% tariff on foreign cars: Who do you think pays that? You! He's also considering lowering interest rates. Another excellent, well known way to drive up prices. Greater access to credit leads to increased purchasing, to higher demand, to higher prices. Cutting immigration will lead to fewer workers, and as we all saw during the pandemic, a decreased labor force leads to higher consumer goods prices. Another one I only recently heard about: Trump has considered devaluing the dollar. The belief there is that this would lead to cheaper US exports, and therefor increase purchasing of US goods over seas. But a weaker dollar means import prices would go up, once again giving you less for your money. (plus if our labor force has already taken a hit from restrictions on immigration and mass deportation, our exports still won't be able to compete.

Not the best show you ever did to equate the depression of the 1929 weather trump era import tariff is massively disingenuous at the time in the 1930s the United States was the world's largest exporter probably by a factor of 5 but I can't remember it exactly right now the United States is the world's biggest Importer with only 3% of its economy involved in exports if the whole economy turned to servicing its own requirements rather than having it brought in cheaply from abroad you could expect massive economic growth the spring Inn everything cheap from abroad has resulted in such imbecilic practises as the United States does not have sufficient gun Cotton to manufacture gunpowder to produce ammunition for the Ukrainian War the United States is importing it from China China is the world's biggest producer of nitro cellulose it is now stopped exporting it to the US and Europe and is sending its entire production to Russia are you telling me that the China will send the US Steel microelectronic components chemicals explosives nitro cellulose to manufacture bullets is the United States was to be von involved in a war with China or Russia the answer of course is ridiculous and shows how limited the internationalist thinking that you have is

what!? tariffs today would equate to between 150-200% and put most people in the poor house or on the streets. the word tariff is synonymous with tax. you've forgotten how high everything was; how used cars parts became so expensive that they outpaced new car prices, or shrinkage or any number of everyday household itms that became sky high that will be out if reach this time around, all because of the cost of parts from china. maybe i read you wrong. people think skilled workers and manufacturing jobs are some neptunian psychedelic pill you take and poof! suddenly the u.s. will mass produce goods. everything we import from china cannot be made here without years of suffering outrageously high taxes. this isn't for everyday working americans. if they lose their job, then what~no income? this is more bs to benefit his corporate cronies and amounts to the same 1% who benefited from his tax cuts the last time around. Project 2025~read it or don't vote.
