It's finally time to introduce Donkey, the Royal Enfield Classic 350 Reborn and also the new Classic Rides bike.
But nobody panic, he's not here to replace Silvie the T120, she's still my main bike and will be around in videos for a long time to come. The Classic 350 is here to simply take some of the load off the T120, so all those miles from local adventures don't need to accumulate on the Bonnie.
This video is just a short introduction to the bike, normal videos will be back very soon. I must give a big thanks to ‪@thebingleywheeler‬ for the suggestion of the perfect area to have my inaugural ride on the Classic 350, the Nidderdale Valley and the Royal Enfield are a perfect match.
I hope you enjoyed this short film; if you did, please check out some of my other videos and I hope that you'll leave a Like or consider Subscribing to the channel. Your Like or Subscription lets KZfaq know that you've enjoyed the video, which in turn helps push it out to more people. It's one of the most genuine ways to support the channel, it costs nothing at all and if you ever want to unsubscribe, it's just a simple click or tap away.
If you'd like more information on the channel, the bike or my travels, please feel free to hop over to my website where you can find articles, photos and journals on everything Classic Rides.

Thank you,
Matt.

I have a Triumph Thruxton 900 2016 and had 2 of them over 8 years. I bought a Classic 500 Enfield 2 years ago with 1600 miles on it and in those 2 years I've ridden the Enfield more than the Thruxton and now have 7600 miles on the Enfield. It's such a different ride and so enjoyable. Some people might think it's a slow bike and they're right to some degree, however, it took me back to my 50cc days at 16. Once you accept that it only plods along and accept the leisurely ride, you end up seeing the beautiful scenery. I don't think I'll get rid of my Enfield now, it's far too much fun and enjoyable to ride round on. Anyone who is debating a single modern classic all I say is, go take one for a test ride. You'll be pleasantly surprised.

I can see how that would happen, they're such lovely little bikes, I'm really enjoying mine so far. I'm intending to ride both the RE and Triumph evenly but we'll have to see how that pans out.

Thanks for the mention Matt and glad you enjoyed a sunny Nidderdale. The Classic 350 gets under your skin and stays there and as you said is the perfect bike to explore these landscapes. Lovely videography as always. All the best, Dave

I’m so pleased Matt. Your bike is the same as my Bronze Chrome and I’m just delighted with it. After an 18 year break from riding it’s been the perfect re-introduction to something which has become my passion. It always puts a smile on my face. I recently did the DGR and although I was surrounded by much more expensive classic bikes, mine received so many compliments. Enjoy it sir. Oh, and by the way, your panniers suit it perfectly 👌🏼

It is most beautiful bike in my opinion. I’m a dual sport guy but I would love to have a Classic 350 if I had room in the garage. I’ve heard that the power increases gradually in the first 5000 to 8000 miles. That it breaks in slowly.

Lovely little bike that one, and looks great in that colour, very understated. Royal Enfield have such a strong range of bikes these days, even if I'm sad they lost the 411 Himy to make way for the 450. Lovely video as always. Last winter I debated what bike to buy after taking some riding courses following a very long hiatus away from motorcycles and regaining my riding confidence. It came down to the T100 or the RE 350 Classic. I settled on the T100 and I am loving that bike, making various upgrades, and enjoying it thoroughly. I am VERY happy with the bike. But, I continue to eye the RE as well. The previously unthinkable continues to creep into the back of my mind. Should I own not one, but two bikes? No, no. I could not possibly do such a thing. 🤭

I've loved the look and the idea of the Classic 350 ( I only have classic and vintage bikes) and eventually took one out for a test ride, I don't know if it's me but I thought it was very big for a 350. The gear pedal was too short for me to be able to get my toes under it to change it up (I do take a size 11) and the huge brake pedal was just where my right foot wanted to be, so I ended up with it stuck out at 45 degrees, the seat didn't suit me either, I think the lower one would have been better. I know these are small things that could easily be changed but they did colour the experience a bit, other than that it was an absolute delight to ride.

I have to say I agree with your observations about the bike, it is surprisingly big for a 350, roughly the same as my T120. And I do wonder how folk with average to large feet cope with the pedals, luckily I’m not a huge person so it’s not too much of a bother, but the pedals are a bit cramped even for me. Still a great bike though despite that.

Hi, Matt. Thank you for another lovely video. Just out of interest, how do you find the rear suspension/shock absorbers on this bike? Some people have said that they're a little below par, and, if you buy a Classic 350 or Bullet, it makes a big difference upgrading the shocks etc.. However, if it's adequate, then I don't really see the point of upgrading for the sake of it. Also, have you taken it down the motorway for an extended period of time (say, 1-2 hours)? How has the engine coped at 70-odd m.p.h? I know it's not a Kawasaki ZZR1400 or Hyabusa, and trundling along at 70 would be fine.....as long as it's not going to explode under stress. Once again, many thanks for the quality and sheer professionalism of your uploads; an absolute pleasure to watch. Regards, Neil.
@ClassicRides
@ClassicRides 4 күн бұрын
Hi Neil, I thought the rear shocks felt fine for the two rides I used them. However I’ve already swapped them for a pair of Hagon shortened springs as I’m on the shorter side and I find it’s usually a worthwhile upgrade. As for riding at 70 for an extended time, I’ve not had a chance to do that yet. I would say that after fitting the DNA air filter and a decat pipe it’s much happier at getting to 70mph, though I’m not sure you’d describe it as “trundling along” as you’re definitely near the bikes limit. But I feel as though it would do it all day as it’s electronically limited, so not like you’d be bouncing off the rev limiter for hours. Once I’ve had the bike a little while I might do a ‘review’ where I’ll go over that real world stuff everyone wants to know 😁

A great video thank you. I recently bought the Halcyon Grey version here in Hungary and love it. I'm trying to source bags for it and have looked at yours on your website. If you don't mind me asking do they fit to the frame or do you need separate pannier frames. Thank you.
@ClassicRides
@ClassicRides 6 күн бұрын
I think with any bike using pannier rails is a good idea, mainly they’ll stop the bag from swinging into the wheel, though I don’t think that’d be too much of a problem with this bike. The other reason is that they stop the bags from scuffing the paint on your bike. Over time the small movements will damage the finish of paint so it’s better to let that happen with cheap pannier rails than the actual bike frame itself.
@erenbelen1

Actually I think having the T120 makes owning such a low power bike more reasonable. If I need a bike with power I’ve got one, if I’m just bumbling around country lanes then the 350 is perfect 👌

@@ClassicRides Fair enough. I wouldn't feel safe riding it on a major road or indeed motorway where you would be mixing it with trucks, coaches, vans and other psychos in SUVs and indeed most other cars now which would be much faster. Would feel very intimidated and definitely need the extra power of the Speed Twin 1200 or indeed more to get away from trouble, but then I guess riding on such roads is not bimbling along country lanes and misses the point of this bike and how you use it. @ClassicRides
@ClassicRides 6 күн бұрын
I don't bother attaching the bottom to be honest, I've not had a problem so far. The only real issue is with with them sliding backwards which it seems to do more on the 350 than the T120. I've used an extra strap looped around the grab handle to stop it moving and it seems to work quite well. If you're really struggling with the bag, send me an email and I'll do my best to help you sort it.

@@LEB1978hi, the bags in this video are the Digley panniers (www.classic-rides.co.uk). They might be a little too tall for the Interceptor’s upswept pipes, but I’ll be releasing a seat strap next week, which should raise the bags by a couple of inches meaning it could possibly fit, it’ll need testing before I can say for sure though.

Did you install the low rider seat for your shoulders to be comfy or because of your height. I'm 6 feet tall and struggle with shoulder pain on this machine. Got the handlebars raised - still painful. Do I reduce the seat height? Any help would be welcome, sir.
@ClassicRides
@ClassicRides 4 күн бұрын
I’ve not noticed any shoulder pain personally so I can’t say if getting the low seat would help you, though I could see how it would in effect raise your arms up a bit. But I wonder if you might then be a little cramped in your legs. Personally I got the low seat because I’m on the shorter side, but it’s not the most comfortable so I may yet switch back to the standard seat. Perhaps the touring handlebars plus your risers would help instead of the low seat?

I worry that if I had a second bike like the 350 Classic that my Triumph would sit unridden. Now logic says that I should replace the Triumph with the RE, but I just can't bring myself to do that, I've always wanted a Triumph to sell her would just be so wrong.
@ClassicRides

No, don’t sell the Triumph, but go and spoil yourself and buy a 350 Enfield as well, they are so cheap now and so cheap to run they are worth it to save putting the miles on the Triumph, just use the Triumph for the long, faster runs. That way you have the best of both 😊 you know it makes sense 😂😂
@Disposalist
@Disposalist 6 күн бұрын
I totally understand, but they are such different bikes. I recently test rode a classic 350 and a Bullet (twice) trying to persuade myself I could replace my Triumph Speedmaster, but I cannot! They are just such different bikes and I love my Speedmaster, I know I would regret it. So now I have resigned myself to living with the short range, short suspension travel and somewhat twitchy throttle of the Speedmaster, because it's still a fantastic bike (and all bikes are a compromise). The Classic (or Bullet) 350 is definitely a "one day" bike. Either one day I will switch, or one day I will own both hehe, but it won't be for some time.
@AlexOnABoat
@AlexOnABoat 6 күн бұрын
I think the thing is, most of my riding is Royal Enfield style, a couple of hours potter about in the countryside. It's either that or the (20mph) blat across London to the Bike Shed, and that doesn't really suit the Scrambler either.
@AlexOnABoat
@AlexOnABoat 6 күн бұрын
What would be really tempting would be a 350 Trials machine like the ones BAAK build, although I'm pretty certain I could pillage the Hitchcocks catalogue with similar if more amateurish results, then I'd have the joy of spannering and someone for some gentle green lanes.
