What an illuminating lecture! The first half can be understood even by school kids. Shows how great a communicator Dr. Donna Strickland is!!

They also bring out a printed form of this lecture I believe. Prof Selva. I came across one earlier by Dr H. Kroemer.

Congratulations and a personal thanks for Professor Donna Strickland for such a great explanation/lecture of CPA lasers! You and Gerard Mourou were such amazing inspirations for my PhD work with CPA lasers at University of Michigan (CUOS) based on your technique! You deserve it!

Please give a nobel prize to the sound engineer that fixed her mic. I nearly went crazy before he took care of it.

Wow she communicates this so well. I've been watching explainers from science communicators on these subjects but it's not until seeing it explained by the expert herself that everything clicked. Brilliant mind in many ways.

A fully devoted lecturer in her bailiwick, one can easily infer that from her choice of garment color: violet :)

No wonder she had a hard time getting her Wikipedia page, no heavy jargons, too simple! Jokes apart, shows great minds simplify things ;)

Did the mc say she received her PhD in 1999? It is a bit confusing when the slide says something different.
