My mum took her own life over a month ago…I am her eldest son I am 30 years of age we had this song at her funeral because she loved it… she never had to be jealous of the angels, she was one…she was my angel, my friend, the one I trusted the most. My son passed away from cancer this past Tuesday afternoon. I didn’t see this song but my fingers did. I looked down and there it was. Someone wanted me to hear this. Monday February 6, 2023. Can you believe it’s been almost three years since I had to say goodbye to only hero I knew. My heart is still waiting for him to walk through the door, but I know he’s waiting for me as much as I’m waiting for him. Maybe I’m delusional, but I’d swear I heard him say, ‘I love you, mom’. I read these comments, not to see other people’s hurt. But by reading them, I realised that the hurt of losing someone never disappears, we only learn to live with it. I lost my father in 2004, but still cries when I hear these type of songs, 16 years later. Because crying helps me remember all the good he left me, and how I sometimes stuff that up as well. My 18 year old son passed away suddenly in Jan 2018, after what was a case of doctors negligence at our local hospital. It was a painful and heartbreaking time for us all. His older siblings and cousins put together a video of his funeral and used this song as part of the music to the video. It broke me than in 2018, and it still breaks me everytime I hear this song. Six years on and am still jealous of the angels around the throne.
