Here is the original tutorial reformatted into one video thus eliminating the playlist.
Component Caning came about because I simply am not a very good big, complex caner. And, I don't have the strength for them nor do I have the attention span. Given my particular deficiencies, I figured the best way to create complex scenes was to deconstruct. That is, to make simple parts and use them individually.
In this tutorial, we will do precisely that to create a leafy branch scene.
Enjoy and if you do, please Like and Subscribe!
Cheers, Donna

This reminds me of when we did Medieval tiles, but it is completely different, there are two ways with coloured slip, one you carve the design and then fill in, or you just put the design on with the slip, it looks very calming to do, must be fun, I enjoyed doing tiles, but it is in the firing where all will go wrong, in real clay you get warping and burning, explosions, if you done it wrong, and then the glazing...FUN...

This turned out beautifully. I am going to try this tomorrow. I do have a question though. If you want to make a brooch/pin, do you bake it then attach a pin clasp and bake it again? Or, do you glue a pin on? I haven’t made a pin yet and I am a beginner with polymer clay.

Hi Carol Ann, I make and cure the piece first, then set it and embed the finding. I’ve been using tie tacs quite a bit as they are easy to embed and very secure. I’ll do a demo tute on this soon. 😊❤️

The original piece is from her book, "The Art of Polymer Clay: Millefiori Techniques". She is a remarkable author. Back "in the day" before the Internet, her books were THE books to have. They were clear, understandable, and thorough. I'm so thrilled she decided to do videos of her work.
