Donner DMP-1 Metronome | Is analog a better option?

Sometimes simple is better. Digital tech toys are cool but in certain applications getting back to basics is best. When it comes to keeping time, it seems to me that a clock type mechanism lends itself well to the feeling of getting back in touch with the real basics of music which when distilled down to the basic elements is time.

The nice visible pendulum helps you keep time if you are playing something too loud to hear the tick. When I was a tuba player that feature was a godsend.

It is. I just received mine and it's completely out of sync just like his. It's useless because one side falls faster and begins to get out of sync as the time passes by. Sad

Yes, because it simulates not using a click a little better since it's not electronic or within a DAW; you'd have to mic it in an isolated room for the band to listen to while recording.

Funny odd story. I started playing drums really at 8 years old. I was given a toy drum I made into a snare. My grandad gave me a Hohner Metronome that prob would be worth money today but I used to use it ...Learning traditional grip playing paradiddles and flams double stroke rolls etc. I used to use the Metronome to go to sleep. I have an old Wittner from west Germany,i have insomnia and every 3 days of being awake i lay down and if i listen long enuf i can fall asleep and get 4 to 6 hours of sleep,if i cannot fall asleep after listening to it for 4 hours i get up and try again the next day usually if it dont work on the 3rd day it always works on the 4th day.

Thank you! I bought the same one. It has a sponge inside, I wish you would of shown how to open the bottom to remove the sponge. You would think is the easiest thing to do but I just cannot seem to open it and it barely comes with any instructions.

Dude, I can really see how hard you tried, but I dont know if your aware of it or not, but you didnt actually let us hear any of these because you immediately started to talk about them and only tried to pause for a whole 4 secs with the last quick speed pace. but I give you an A+ for effort!

This is a digital metronome. It goes "tik tok…" An analogue metronome goes "wish woosh…"

I saw 2 in a couple of thrift stores- a small analog type and a Franz electric metronome. I didn't get either, and I regret both😔.
