You need to take your hearing aids to the office for the firmware update and then download the latest hearlink 2 update. This is crazy! We have all been waiting for this and it's finally here. I'm so excited for all of you. Enjoy!

1:52 I tested the "Remember Settings" feature last night. I changed my aid volumes and also changed my program to Speech in Noise before charging for the night. I checked again this morning and the volume settings were retained. However, the program mode defaulted back to General. No big deal but the changed setting in Speech in Noise were also retained, so all in all - good job Philips! (and thanks for the update, Brian!)

Thanks to you Brian, I picked up my new Philips Hearing Aids this morning! I was treated so well at our Costco store getting everything ready. The lady who programmed them for me suggested I wait two weeks before using the app. At this point I am telling you these are running circles around my Starkey Evolv's.

I received the 9040’s in late November. The sounds I had not been hearing were amazing. My voice was a little weird, best description I can com up with is it had a metallic halo around it. Started getting better as I adapted. I was disappointed in the lack of improvement in a crowd. That was what I was hoping for as going out to eat is difficult hearing a conversation across the table. My wife got the Jabra’s and she thinks they helped in the directional hearing. I returned mine to get the portable charging case that was not included in November. Going back tomorrow to get the 9040’s again. I asked and they said the 9040’s were best suited to my hearing loss. Hopefully Phillips will come up with a software upgrade to assist in directional hearing.

Curious if anyone has had issue with these 9040s since update with Apple (wife is on iphone 14 pro) with bluetooth where it loses one side and/or switches to one side and another and then comes right back. I read a few users on reddit but nothing else. Wife just got these last week right after the update and she loves them so far, only issue is this. Her iphone needed an update or 2 but i think its still happening. As always thanks for the content here, its been super helpful.

Couple of things. First, make sure you visit your hearing aid fitter every few months for a clean and check and tell them to check for firmware updates for your hearing aids. Also, make sure you are using the latest app version. I show you how to do this in the latest philips update video. Once all updates are done, then Un-pair, completely, the hearing aids from the phone and start from scratch.

I could decide between the Jabras or Phillips. I almost purchased the Phillips and now I’m glad I didn’t. I need at least a six channel or more equalizer for my specific condition. Thanks for the heads up.

Congrats on breaking 4k subscribers! After watching almost all of your videos I think I’m prepared to choose the Jabra Enhance Pro at my appointment with you later today. Based on my conversation with you 9 months ago, I was kind of holding out for Phillips to knock it out out of the park with an improved app… while they’ve improved, Jabra seems to provide a lot more in their app, clinched with their now 30% size reduction, and a new lower price. It will be interesting to see how our conversation goes at the appointment today! Your content, presentation style, knowledge, and technical prowess on your KZfaq channel make a winning package! @@richdiorio3650… I did get the Jabra Enhance Pro 10. The Pro 20 is out now with some interesting upgrades. My Pro 10’s are excellent! Sound quality is good. Streaming from iPhone is ideal (but can’t stream from FireTV or Windows laptop). The app is useful and easy to use. There is a feature to “mute” ambient sound while streaming. It works pretty nicely, but it’s not as effective as active noise reduction. Using the Jabras to take a phone call is convenient, but people tell me the sound quality of my speaking is really bad. All in all, I really like them!

Went to my local Costco in Australia for a hearing test as I am 68 yrs young and sure enough my high frequencies had gone bye bye. I was leaning towards ordering the Jabra, but my consultant said that even though the Jabra app has more gizmos, she has greater control with the Rexton, so that's what I ordered. Two of my friends have the Signia, which is the same product, and both were very happy with theirs. Currently I believe this is the only hearing aid with dual cpus (not counting Apple Airpods!). I am looking forward to comparing them to my Airpods Pro Gen 1.

Congratulations on getting your hearing aids. Likely your highs have been gone for a long,long time unless you had an accident or something. They are life changing and preserve marriages. I visited NSW in 1979 for 3 months. I don't think I could survive the flight from San Diego to Sydney again. I reckon the undeveloped coastal property a is long gone by now. 40+ yrs 'ya think?

Just got off the phone with Phillips. They took away the equalizer you just reviewed. They are working on an update but could not provide a release date yet. Very Disappointed. I also purchased the Jabras. To me the Jabras don’t hold a candle to the quality (sound) of the Phillips , however Jabras I can hear by manipulating the app. Phillips (to me) does not work despite the great sound quality. Hope Phillips gets it together soon!!

@@HearingClub I only had the General and Airport programs loaded my iPhone. Costco did not load Noise and Speech. Maybe that has something to do with it. I called Philips spoke to technical support and the confirmed it was not on their app at this time. Costco was unaware of it as well. Brian would greatly appreciate if you could advise how to enable this feature if possible.

Hi Brian, not only am I hearing impaired but also visually impaired. I have an iPhone 13 with the latest iOS running. I use a feature called voice over in the accessibility section. Unfortunately, this latest update is not accessible for us who use voiceover on the iPhone. I cannot adjust any of the settings in the app. I sent this concern to the developer, but doubt if I will get any resolution. It should be easy for a developer to make their app accessible fir people who need accessibility such as voice over. Just FYI.

Are you saying that you can't get this philips hearlink update? And you are unable to change any of hearlink 2 app settings due to the fact that voice over doesn't work with the app?

Hi Brian, yes, I was able to get the latest update on the app as it reads some of the information there, but I cannot access any other buttons to perform any changes i.e. the sound button. If I tap on the sound button, it does not open and show me the equalizer. I have to have my spouse make these changes for me. 0:03

Yes there’s firmware updates for 9030s too. If you haven’t gotten it updated in last 3 months.

Hi Hearing Club. Love your channel. Went to Costco and they weren't aware of a firmware update . But they checked and did the firmware update for the 9030s. Now just need to update the app. without you I would have been unaware of this option so thank you. My visit was prompted by your stellar reviews of the new Jabras so did hearing test and plan to order these when my new funding kicks in (2-3 months) Dr Cliff does some excellent reviews but he is a bit of a Costco basher. My visit was over an hour and the testing was probably better than the private providers I have visited. A price comparison would be a joke. You and my local contact both deserve a huge bonus. Thanks

@@user-vk1qs1bq2v Can you tell me what firmware version you needed for the 9030's to add the sound equalizer because customer support says the new sound equalizer doesn't work with the 9030. I have 1.4.4 firmware and the latest app and only have the streaming equalizer.

Volume has always been there, in sync or individual. The equalizer is binaural. Both ears. I have yet to see ANY hearing aid app that let's you adjust the equalizer individually between both ears.

Hi Brian, just subscribed...stumbled across your channel tonight. I am in the market for hearing aids(first time) and was wondering if you now recommend the Phillips 9040 over the Jabra after the app udate?

I would say it's a really hard choice lol. For me personally... ugh... I'd say I still want the jabras for the handful of features the jabra app offers, but we are splitting hairs at this point. The philips are a great hearing aid with even more features now. Go and try them out. Whether I like the philips or jabras more is irrelevant I think. Go try em out 😀

Thanks Brian, I have an appointment for next Saturday. Im trying to find out if my insurance will reimburse me for them. They said it depends on the CPT code they bill it under? I spoke to someone on the phone but they said only the dispenser could give me the code after doing the hearing test so I'm hoping whatever code he gives me BCBS will approve.. @@HearingClub

Does Phillips have echo reduction feature in the app? Heard lot more echo in Phillips set compared to Rexton.

it does not. The echo "should" only be present when you speak, your OWN voice. This is not a feature controlled by the app. This is a byproduct of occlusion. It's called the occlusion effect. It has everything to do with the type of dome you are using. If you have open domes, the occlusion effect will be less, if you have more closed domes, the effect will be more noticeable. The difference between the Rexton and Philips would be the domes. You must be using more of an occluding dome with the philips if the echo is worse.

Sir good morning does Costco have any hearing aid for severe to profound hearing aids if so what are the brands and name of these hearing aids thank you

All 3 of our brands can accommodate that loss but if it is more on the profound side, our highest power BTE is the Rexton HP Ll hearing aid. This is a bigger, rechargeable BTE that requires a custom mold.

Do you have much experience fitting CIC hearing aids at Costco? What are your thoughts on Jabra CIC vs Philips CIC? Do you recommend one over the other? I know they lack Bluetooth streaming and some of the other advanced features compared to RIC but I value the smaller size of CIC over these features.

I do have experience. They start from smallest to largest in this order. IIC, CIC, ITC, ITE. I absolutely hate the IIC and CIC. I don't mind taking the impression, I hate when the patient brings them in complaining about background noise, no Bluetooth features, no advanced features, batteries not lasting since they take the smallest battery. I hate these. I would go to an ITC. Still small but they have all the features that the RIC aids have.

Wow. I just ordered the Jabras from Costco mainly due to the lack of an equalizer for the regular hearing part on the Phillips. I struggled back and forth between them and the Jabras but chose the Jabras because of that feature on their app. I haven't yet received my aids, I may look at trying to swap. Would this feature make you want to swap?

Oh man. Talk about a tough question. Actually no it's an easy question. The jabras still have way more features in the app. The directionality, the noise filter, wind noise reduction, noise reduction, speech clarity, fromt focus, theres so many features. Don't be in such a hurry, you have 6 months. Use it

Hi Brian were you able to install this feature on an Android phone. I just got back from my local hearing center and was told that this is only available on iPhone presently. Bummer!

Absolutely. I have a Samsung galaxy s22. I'm using the new equalizer now. I hate having to contradict other folks, but I'm here to give you guys consistently accurate info. It's there, not an iPhone only feature. Just make sure you have the newest app version. 1.2.2. Just like in the video
