I think you missed the Auntie's explanation. It was the 'Dweller in Darkness' that was speaking to Wenwu. It knew he had the rings, and the rings could free it from its prison. The Auntie said that the Dweller had spoken to other people before promising to give them their heart's desire if they freed it from its prison.

This film was originally slated to premiere in February 2021 in part to celebrate Lunar New Year. However, COVID delayed everything and the movie had to be postponed until September of the same year. They were able to film about a third of the movie (including the bus fight) over the course of two months before they had to go on hiatus and send the cast and most of the crew home. The director Destin Daniel Cretton was among the few who stayed behind to move along with post-production. Four months later, they were able to resume. Part of the reason is because they were filming in Australia. COVID cases there weren’t as high as in most other countries at the time. One month later, Simu and Meng’er were able to put on their superhero costumes for the first time. Even though I had seen posters of Shang-Chi in his costume months before the film premiered, I was still surprised when I went to see this movie in theaters for the first time that the jackets made for Shang-Chi and Xialing were made of dragon scales. According to designer Andy Park, the triangle motif on Shang-Chi’s costume symbolizes the endless cycle of life, death, and rebirth. The complete costume is made up of the three parts that tell the full story of his journey: 1.) the dragon scale armor from his mother 2.) the rings from his father 3.) the Air Jordans from his time in the States In the comics, the ten rings are worn around the fingers. Back in Iron Man 3, even Trevor wore ten brass rings as part of his Mandarin costume. For the MCU, the rings were modeled after Hung Gar rings. They were purposely designed to be worn around the arms like bracelets since having them worn on the fingers would’ve felt too similar to the Infinity Stones on Thanos’ gauntlet. @1:44 The Ten Rings have been in the MCU since the beginning. They’re the same organization that kidnapped Tony in Afghanistan. After his wife died, Wenwu resumed operations. One of the first things he had his men do was take Tony hostage so he could build a Jericho missile for them. Andy Le who portrays Death Dealer (the Ten Rings operative in the white mask) and Cambodian actor D.Y. Sao were Simu Liu's personal trainers. The three of them started practicing the fight choreography months ahead of filming. Simu’s training had two components: strength/flexibility and martial arts. He had to learn two different styles for Shang-Chi based on his character’s parents: tai chi (his mom’s more graceful and pacific style) and wing chun (his dad’s more aggressive and menacing style). Also, when Simu's parents would call him, it wasn't to check up on him but rather they wanted to know if he got to work with Tony Leung that day. You should check out the soundtrack for this film. Record label 88 Rising brought a number of their musicians together for this album along with some special guests from other labels, and half of the songs made their way into the final film. There’s also a video on Insider’s KZfaq channel that goes further into detail as to how the bus fight scene was put together. And the story about Ta Lo was also published in a childrens' book that's tied to this movie. It's called "Who Guards My Sleep?" A sequel is in the works with Destin expected to direct again. I love this movie. Shang’s dad Wenwu is one of my favourite MCU villains, he’s so complex, and you can’t help feeling bad for him. He may not have been a very good father, or a very good person, but it was hard not to like him or empathise.

There is a nice, subtle introduction of the difference between the Eastern vs Western culture. From the values and way of living, where honor and friendship is earned in battle. Even as enemies the respect and honor is measured by their ability and combat skill. Also, there is a philosophy you all might have heard about *ikigai*, where you find your purpose and joy in doing one thing really well that serves others. Even if that thing is really simple the Japanese have a restlessness of continuous improvement of anything, that is called *Kaizen*. They don't chase money, wealth, or any other pleasure, their purpose is to find happiness through being helpful and useful to others, thus creating a perpetual cycle among them that cherishes these values.

My one and only issue with this movie is how his sister trained. Training alone is actually a really ineffective method. Training with others is how you really master things. Doing it in the air is one thing, but doing it on another person is another entirely.

Now that we have Shang Chi, Daredevil, and Iron Fist in the MCU, we need to get a redo of the Defenders, with the three best martial artists in the comics. I just really hope they don't overrely on the rings or that crouching tiger, hidden dragon style of his mother's in the future. I want genuine hard hitting action back again, what with Daredevil getting a new series too.

The rings are not the ones producing the voices. The voices come from a creature behind the wall, and is only talking to him because the creature knows the rings have the power to free it, to break the gate. The rings arent whats talking to him, the creatures behind the gate is. There is no drawback to the rings, 0, absolutely none.

wingless dragons cant fly and there is no magic shenanigans being used either (well no more than usual you know... magical dragon stuff) the way wingless dragons "fly" through the skies is by using their claws to grab on the clouds and jump from them. think of it like parkour but instead of humans running on walls and jumping of roofs, dragons do it with clouds, and reason why i have to point out "magical dragon stuff" is cause scientifically clouds are intangible, you cant really grab them or jump on them or anything, clouds are bunch of humid particles grouped together with air currents. there are different clouds in terms of shape and form and some have more humidity in them and others are thicker cause of how air currents work... wingless dragon basically can manipulate those air currents in clouds to allow them to fly (the same magic principal aunt and mom can use, the one you said is very useful for cleaning leaves)... according to some mythologies, some of the most powerful dragons are able to create their own clouds which is OP cause it allows them to fly in any sky whenever they want whereas weaker wingless dragons are kinda fucked in terms of flying in the clear sky

That is the argument to be had though. If we didn't need to work for money to survive or to even enjoy life, would none of us work? Or would we all have careers and jobs that are more suited to our passions? There are people who like to build cars, build stuff, and people who like to garden as hobbies. Most of our firefighters are volunteers here in the states. A lot of retired elderly people get a simple job like a walmart cashier just to have something to do in their day. How many of the streamers, youtubers, musicians/rappers, hollywood actors would there be if there was no exclusive money or fame in it? We'd have a lot of people lay around and waste away, sure and they would eventually go crazy or commit suicide from boredom but I think society as a community would be better off. We'd have more quality product because it would be created from a passion for it, instead of a need for profit. I don't know, its just something to think about.
