I'll never forget the day my dad and I went to the Chevy dealership and he had me help pick out his truck. It was a brand new 1993 charcoal gray regular cab short bed, 4.3 vortec, 2wd with Camaro wheels wrapped in BFG white letter tires. That thing was fast af and got compliments everywhere. I so wish I could buy that truck new today

I bought my '99 S10 Blazer from my grandparents after my grandma hit a deer with it. Sat for about 8 years before I decided I didn't want to see it go off to the junkyard. I bought it, hauled it home, and spent the summer pulling parts from the donor '99 and from a 2000 Bravada in the scrapyard for body panels, and she had 58k miles on the clock when I bought her in 2018. She's turning 25 in about 2 weeks now, February 10. 73k miles and counting, hoping to get many more years out of her.

Loved my 95 s-10 extended cab with the jump seats in the back that I had from going into my jr. year of high school in 2005-2006 up until early 2011 when I regretfully sold it. 2 wheel drive with the 4.3. Was always kind of fun seeing the friends that didn't call shotgun get pissed about having to climb into the jump seats. Still to this day I still have a soft spot for s10s/Sonomas and if I had the extra money I'd gladly pick up one for a project.

The 4.3 liter was same size as a 350, just missing two cylinders. However, I never knew they offered a diesel. Back then 80s and some of 90's) 0-60 in ten seconds was fast and normal. It was also a selling point. So anything that could do that or faster was on fire.

Great episode. Very edutaining. I had an s15 back in the 90s with a massive propane tank and a 2.6L v6 that drank oil like Amy wine house drank "beverages". Dude who sold it to me was an ex semi truck driver and had some old leaf springs installed that made the thing ridiculous. I could take a full two yards of dirt. And it had a lo final drive reduction gear too, so it was shit on the highways, but badass for hauling. Awesome little beater truck. Still remember when my dad took it down to buy some dirt and they said it would probably only take half a yard. He put in half a yard and the back end dropped about half an inch. The guy dumping dirt did a Keanu "woah" and put the full yard in. Maybe an inch and a half drop. So he threw another yard on there and it brought it down to normal "ass height". For an s10. Hahaha. Turns out they used a full on half ton chassis for the truck, so the chassis was just fine with a little pressure.

Hi, I bought a 1983 chevy s10 pickup about 6 months ago. The original owner, a farmer and mechanic, ordered it from the factory in 1982. He had 3 trucks, and used this one for going into town.. when he died, his daughter inherited it..she gave it to her son in the last year of high school. He blew the head gasket. They had just repainted it, put new tires on it and re-did the exhaust system. Its gorgeous, silver w an aluminum tool box on the bed. Best of all, it only has 69,004 original miles on it ! Once the head gasket is repaired and the carburetor.. I am going to sell it. I am in Charlotte NC. How do o go about getting the best price ? Thank you..haven't done it before and hoping for some advice.

Pulled a total load of 8050 pounds from NorCal to Barstow over the Tehachapi’s….. with a blown head gasket that was leaking to the outside of the block (added coolant twice in the 500ish mile trip). That S-10 only weighed 2400 pounds and I was passing semis up the Tehachapis!!!!!! Had I weighed before I made the trip….. I never would have headed south. But she took that trip like a champ as well as towing a Geo Storm from NorCal to WA DC in the dead of winter 4 1/2 years later. Bad assed rigs.

We did some basic repairs and mantienence and then got the paint, trim, front grill, and all exterior lights restrored and replaced. It looks amazing now. I love that car man, I just wish i had grandpa driving it with me in the passenger.

ive had 6 s10s. 2 were iron dukes, one with the 4 speed manual. i had a 2.2l 5 speed and a 4.3l 4l60e. and then there was her. the 1994 chevy s10 with a first gen tbi 4.3l and an nv3500 5 speed manual. the 94 5 speed 4.3l was hands down the best truck out of all of them, even counting the fact the other 4.3l truck was 4x4 with a 3.73. the 94 manual truck with under 2000 of engine upgrades, the trans being built, and the upgrade from the 3.08 to a 3.42 locker meant i was dusting things with stock-ish small block swaps, small turbo build honda with maybe 330hp, and a cammed 2002 ls1 camaro with a six speed. the truck continued to make it to 199,000 miles before i parked it with a blown trans, my only major repair that i ever needed. i cant tell you how hard i abused that thing, but it made it through 6 long, hard, domestic violence style years of abuse, i stopped counting the amount of burnouts i did with the thing after it was finished and driving let alone before the trans and rear end. all while getting 16mpg city and 27 highway. if you can pick up a 2nd gen s10 94-96 with the tbi 4.3l in it, paired to the nv3500 5 speed, i promise the truck wont let you down. ive owned crown vics, ive owned toyotas, ive owned a honda civic, and even a 4.9l 5 speed f150. that 94 s10 was still the best all around vehicle ive ever owned, counting reliability, fun, comfort, and price.

Another fun fact about the S10 Chassis use: The original design lifespan of the Grumman LLV specified by the U.S. Postal Service was 24 years, but in 2009 this was extended to thirty years. The body and final assembly is by Grumman, and the chassis (based on the 1982 Chevrolet S-10 Blazer) is made by General Motors, with the powerplant (2.5L I-4 TBI "Iron Duke" and, in later production, General Motors 2.2L I-4 iron block/aluminum head engine), instrument cluster and front suspension similar to those used in the Chevrolet S-10 pickup and S-10 Blazer sport utility vehicle. Yep them ugly post office trucks running around are S10's Approximately 140,000 LLVs are in the USPS delivery fleet. Love you James!!!!

My S-10 Tahoe has an interesting backstory. My great grandfather bought it brand new in '92, he got tired of it and gave it to my grandfather, then my grandfather got tired of it and gave it to my uncle until he could buy his own car, then he bought a Ford Crown Victoria and took it to NYC. Then two months ago, my grandfather gave it to me as my first car. This thing is in pristine condition apart from paint flaking and a small crack on the dashboard, and runs like a gem at nearly 30 years old.

@@Chente-27 If you can't find a good Extreme you can just buy a 4.3L and put a 3.42 or 3.73 rear axle in it, buy a speedo recalibration module to fix the speedometer. The extreme has the same engine as any other. The extreme came with the 2.2L also. It's a pretty good engine but they're pretty slow. I had a 95 with the 2.2L and the head cracked twice. I think GM fixed the head cracking issue in 97. If you read my thread near the top I left a list of all the stuff I did to mine. I have spent some coin on it,but I really don't care because I'm probably never going to sell it. Buy one with good paint if you buy one and one that doesn't make any weird engine ticking noises. Sometimes the lifters are bad other times it's the timing chain. The 4.3L can last a long time if you keep the oil changed.

I graduated from high school in 1985...my first automobile...a 1985 Red S-10 2.5lr! God I miss that truck! Later we ( my GF now wife) bought a 1989 2.8lr 4x4! I miss those so much. I now own a 2021 ZR2 Colorado. ( I still want an S-10 ZR2!) Thank you for this video....made me feel young again!

I have owned 4 s-10s and 1luv. I'll be honest the luv was my favorite. It couldn't pull a greased string out of a cats but, but it looked good going down the road!

I've owned two S-10's first was a 1991 and the one I still have is a 2 wheel drive with body kit and mags. With the 2.5 "Iron duke" 2.5. 5 speed. It isn't that bad. Pretty quick and dual exhaust with glass packs it doesn't sound bad either.

Found a 97 2wd, a it's forest green. Thing was kind of frozen in time on somebody's property. I tried to start it after putting fluids in to see what would happen, it came to life without much convincing. This video has sold me on these little trucks, and I think a mini hot wheels is going to be a fun project ! Thanks man!

I bought a 2000 Chevy S10 truck manual transmission and I love it! Paid $1,300.00 great condition some dings and small dents but that's what gives it character. 🔧⚙️🛠️... It's a great fixer upper and fun to drive.

I am the proud owner of a blue and rust colored 1991 s10, and I just refuse to part with him. I will fix him piecemeal. s10 love is VERY much alive. I get compliments on him most everywhere I go. Thank you for this interesting video!
