Paul Walker didn’t just play a laid back SoCal car guy in The Fast And The Furious movies, he was a laid back SoCal car guy IRL. The role of Brian O’Conner fit him like a glove, so it’s no wonder it became the defining role of his career. But there was more to Paul Walker than fast cars, explosive action, and cheesy lines-a lot more. Join host James Pumphrey as he gets you Up To Speed on the late, great Paul Walker!

Paul also came personally to Chile in 2010, to a small town called Pelluhue in wich he used to surf, after a devastating earthwake. He provided relief for the injured and affected locals. Paul was a huge inspiration to all of us. If it weren’t for the movies, honestly not sure if I would be into cars. I used to play The Fast and the Furious on repeat when I was 4. It was my favorite movie. I always looked at him as a brother and someone to look up to even though I never knew him. The day tragedy struck, I balled my eyes out for days. He was the reason I got into cars, big reason on why I love Nissan. He made a difference in the world. He will never be forgotten.

Man, I could feel the raw emotion from the narrator/vid creator on this, and also sympathize. Growing up, Paul was like a role model to me. I have my "favorites" when it comes to actors, but Paul was my ACTUAL favorite actor. I still remember the day my wife sent me a text saying "Did you hear? Paul walker from Fast and furious died. Isn't he your favorite actor or something?". I thought she was just playing with me, and joking around. I go pull up a search on Google to find out and confirm its all real. The moment I discovered my wife wasn't playing around, my heart sank and I literally started tearing up. I thought to myself "this can't be real. This isn't happening". I was in denial. Then I started telling myself "I'm never gonna see him again, in any movie. That's it.... it's done. He's gone." I just wanna make a point here, so people understand. I loved Paul walker as an actor so much, that I would even watch the garbage/unpopular no name movies, if he happened to be in it. That's all it took. Even if it was a crappy no name movie, I would watch it, JUST because he was in it. I liked and respect him THAT much as an actor and as a person. To his day, every time I see a new fast and furious movie with him not in it, I tell myself "he should have been in this" RIP Paul. You touched a lot of hearts, and had much love from your fans. 👍

I still remember bugging mom for months to take me to the first f&f movie and the night the movie came out, cars everywhere rocking all sorts of mods I have never seen in my life. At 10 years old, that was the night I became a car guy. 20 years later I'm still as obsessed and as nuts about it as I was then. Thank you Paul.

He wasn't just a celebrity or movie star, he was like mentor to a lot of us older millennial kids who loved cars growing up. I still remember being in the car listening to the radio when they interrupted a song to announce he was killed. I pulled over with tears in my eyes and just sobbed for a few minutes. I remember the day like it was yesterday. I was a sophomore in high school and literally just got home from Walmart picking up fast and furious 6 on DVD to watch with my mom and sister, got 10 minutes into the movie before I hopped on Instagram only to see the car crash all over my news feed. It was so devastating for me because the fast and furious series was the sole reason I fell in love with cars. Paul Walker was a huge inspiration for me as a kid. I started learning about the JDM culture and devoted so many years to the automotive industry hoping one day I could drive cool cars like him one day. People may have a lot to say about him goof and bad but one thing you can't take away from him is the fact that he along with the cast inspired a whole generation and showed us how cool import cars really are.

I was around 10 when I heard the news of Paul's passing. My sister had told me about it and I was in complete shock. At first I kinda just went on with my day but later on that night, the first Fast and Furious movie was on and at the end as he walked into the sunlight, I just burst into tears. My dad had to comfort me and help me calm down. My dad had watched each and every movie with me, he was the one who got me into the movies, but Paul was the one who helped get me into the cars. I wanted an R34 Skyline even more than I wanted the latest Challenger or Camaro because of him. And now learning about him and his efforts with Reach Out Worldwide only solidifies in my heart what a good man he was. May God bless him and may God bless James. the Walker family, and the Donut crew for telling his story.

The tears were only made more painful knowing how much of a gem he was. Rest in Peace, Legend.

I was going into high school excited to get my license when Paul passed away, I remember watching all the fast movies afterwards and even seeing brick mansions (his last full movie) when it came out. I grew up with Paul, I probably watched eight below 100x growing up along with the fast movies and deep blue sea

This is definitely one of my favorite episodes that you've put out . Good job guys. It's pretty obvious the respect and admiration that you have for Paul Walker. He was truly an icon. AND an inspiration. If there was one celebrity worth following and emulating, it was him. He was such a kind soul. A rare breed. Such a big loss. THANK YOU FOR THIS EPISODE GUYS.

I used to watch 2f2f on the DvD on repeat when i was like 2 years old not even knowing what cars were at the time, but growing older and getting to know Paul from the movies made me a car guy and wanting to be like him. That Sunday when I heard the news of the crash I lost a part of my self. I will always miss him and I 'm sure one day we will meet. RIP Paul.

I remember watching fast and furious when I was 7 years old and that image of him driving a green eclipse made me realize how much I love cars and the automotive world. So even tho he isn't present on this world anymore, I would like to say thank you for everything Paul.
