Anti theft tip: before walking away from your vehicle, remember to weld the doors shut, remove steering wheel, engine, and all 4 wheels and tires. Build a 30ft steel wall all around your vehicle and that should help a little with theft.

2-way car alarms will let you know on your remote when your alarm is going off. If it has a starter interrupter it should give you some time to get out to your car. I highly recommend these over standard alarms. Steering wheel locks only take seconds to bypass with a hacksaw. Theyll just cut through the steering wheel itself. Just another small deterrent basically. A killswitch saved my car from being stolen once, so I installed a 2nd one, got a steering wheel lock and a car alarm. Overall, these are very helpful tips.
@britt828110 ай бұрын
What kill switch? And car alarm?
@patrickcardon164310 ай бұрын
You got those modular kill switch kits, where you can set up a sequence with 2 or even 3 buttons. You install the first kill switch barely hidden so the thief thinks that's it, but won't be able to start unless the second (and third switch) is also pressed in the correct order. All about making them lose time and dissuade them from continuing

Glad you mentioned the Clutch lock! No one seems to know about them. So effective since both the lock and pedals they lock onto are made of steel, so they can't be cut anywhere. They also works for automatic transmissions too - just locks onto the brake pedal. Same effect! I'm surprised you still recommend the Club (steering wheel lock) though. Thieves are known to be able to simply cut the steering wheel itself easily with any saw, making it easy to remove the lock.

The 1st steering wheel lock can be bypassed relatively easy. Best to use the boot. Also when using the boot you open yourself to the carjacker or robber. So never turn a blind I when removing your boot. Be aware of your surroundings. Kill switches are also pretty affective. For long term parking I would use two in conjunction with another. It may slow you down and be an inconvenience, but thieves want the quickest/easiest target.

someone pointed me to this video to share how I prevent car theft. I move the driver seat(cushion and seatback) as far forward as possible. For my car, that means only a chimpanzee can squeeze in there and drive. I then pull the power seat relay out. In my Mercedes, it's located in side the trunk, forward of the spare tire. I either take the small relay with me or hide in somewhere in the car. A car thief will not spend the time to figure out how to fix the non-movable power seat, so he/she won't be able to drive away. I got this idea when my power seat relay failed and I could move my seat. After I bought a new $8 relay from the Mercedes dealer, I realized that it was also an easy way to prevent car theft. Of course, if thieve just tows my car, then this obviously will not work. My friend improved my method by simply adding a hidden on/off switch on the wire feeding power to the power seat motor. He moves the seat forward and then turn off the switch. It has the same effect of making it impossible to drive the car.(again, unless the thief is the size of a chimpanzee) He uses a foglight switch for this purpose.

A great way to protect your car would be a simple electro-shock contraption installed in the driver seat, NFC activated. Once the car is opened, you get about 30 seconds to pull out your NFC tag and scan it, otherwhise a needle pops out of the seat piercing your pants and a 2000 volt electric shock is applied, killing the theft instantly. There you go. I fixed the problem of car theft. I'll take a Nobel.

Disconnecting the battery while the car is running, is the old school way of testing if your alternator is going out. If the car continues to run, then your alternator is good. So they thief would be able to drive the car away, even if you cut the battery.

On my old no top bronco with a manual transmission. I took the wire from the switch on the clutch pedal. It's there so you can't start the car with out putting in the clutch. Ran the wire under my carpet to just in front of the driver's seat. Then bought a cheap horn button , wired the button to the clutch wire under the carpet. With the button also under the carpet , the only way to start the bronco was to step on the spot were the button was under the carpet. Cost me maybe ten bucks and only a few minutes to install. Just don't forget to be out of gear when you step and start or you will have a bucking bronco lol. Super cheap and even if they hot wire or mess with the steering column and key cylinder, still won't start unless that little hidden button gets stepped on while turning the key. I put mine on my left , so I used my right foot on the brake and just stepped back with my left foot to press the switch.

My car had an alarm and immobiliser installed from factory. Went to a store at the mall to get a couple of keys programmed to reactivate them. I saved around $250 compared to the dealer prices. On the 7 hour drive home, I tripped the alarm twice. The second time, at a service station; someone walked past me in my car and gave me a dirty little look.

Grimmrok I actually own 3 and the head gasket has never really been an issue. As long as you don’t floor and launch them everywhere, they are reliable cars. Get ready for the maintenance costs though (especially if you want a gd sti or wrx). Not only do you have to make sure everything has new fluids and is functioning properly at all times (not that you shouldn’t be doing that on other cars), but if you opt for an older car you have to deal with electrical connectors breaking when you take them off and also stiff rubber vacuum hoses etc.

I know this is 3yrs old. But a properly professionally installed alarm with a STARTER kill will NOT have false alarms, and will prevent unauthorized starting of the car. And with a 2way remote and/or a telematics device will notify you the alarm is going off, and or let you know if it did get stolen. Impact sensors need to be set PROPERLY and tilt sensors can detect if the vehicle is lifted up or towed. Also in Canada mandatory antitheft type ignitions with transponder keys have been mandatory for 20yrs. Car theft is strong again because smart key vehicles have become easy to steal. Turn key start cars with a transponder chip are MUCH harder to steal

My dad is a head mechanic and has been one for about 30+ years. He knows everything there is to know. I asked him about kill switches, and he said they are good deterrents but are ineffective with serial car thieves since most kill switches, at least amateur ones, have one cable connecting to the battery. The serial car thief will know this right away and just cut the cable connecting the battery to the kill switch, making it utterly useless. He said a better, more advanced kill switch is to manually disconnect your fuel pump or disconnect your fuel lines. I think that’s the alternative he told me. According to him, it’s not a very well known trick, so it will catch most common car thieves by surprise. I don’t remember his explanation on how you’re supposed to do that, but I remember him saying it’s not very difficult. I think he said the thief might still be able to drive the car for like 30 seconds or something before the car shuts off on its own for lack of fuel or whatever. He said, at this point, the thief will freak out and abandon the car right away leaving it wherever it shutoff, instead of trying to figure out why it shutoff. More than likely, you will get your car back undamaged since the thief didn’t get far, especially if it’s in the middle of the street with the door open in broad daylight or somewhere with constant traffic or passerbyers, lol.

In Poland there was also an invention of the 90s, which is gearstick blockade. Shift to either 1st or reverse gear and stick that blockade in a certain hole, so it'll be impossible to switch gears without taking it out with a special key. Apparently shit, not antitheft device it was, but hey, it was something and since it came along with a car when buying out of a dealer, then fine. And the ultimate antitheft device: taking away car's battery or any small crucial part of your car.
@user-td3du7jk2x Жыл бұрын
1. Locking you keys in your car. The perp can break a window and the keys are waiting to be used/ (For a jpyride they won't care and for resale they will already have a replacement.) 2. Car alarms can be stopped. Or disconnect the battery from underneath and just tow it away. 3. The club. A rigged battery driven sawsall or grinder 4. Lowjack can be turned off if the perp knows the frequency. 5. Ki;; switch. This will work onlt one time. After that they will just tow it/ 6. The boot. See #3. 7. I don't have an answer for the flamethrower. He challenged me and I am part German, I had to answer.
