I've got a visually modified H6 Outback (looks like a JDM Legacy Blitzen) that I spent 7 years trying to buy. It's the car I'm keeping forever, and my dream is to go down to the chassis and build it up like in this video. And I also have a Volvo V70 that I wanna do a budget autocross build on, because sometimes cheap is beautiful.

Chris/Castro's is well known from the r3v/greater e30 community, good to see he's still killing it. Also refreshing to see a youtuber/influencer doing a good build on an e30 with brands/parts/setups used by enthusiasts of that platform instead of just throwing an LS and a bunch of random brand or ebay parts at the car. Love the car, love all the decisions you made, but man those headlights are rough looking. Some smileys with an LED/projector retrofit would really tie the whole thing together

The whole thing about wanting a “tighter” steering is sus though
@basic.sportscar
@basic.sportscar 2 ай бұрын
@@supremelordoftheuniverse5449 it’s just the way he explained it. The difference isn’t loose or tight, it’s the ratio which changes how many turns required from lock on one side to lock on the other. The z3 rack is a popular upgrade because it takes less turns lock to lock than the e30 racks. This translates to sharper or quicker steering feel and improved handling, also requiring less driver input.

Donut still knows how to Up to Speed. And while it's okay to move forward to new flavors of content, knowing they can still do it when they want to is comforting to me. Also..... Rebuilt the engine and trans with higher compression, cams, wavetrac, taller 5th, etc. Everything important cryogenicly treated. Stripped the car in about 12 hours and installed everything in about 5 days. Rebuilt the entire car bumper to bumper. Window seals, breaks, lines, wheel bearings, everything.

@@NarwahlGaming The good thing about those old Camaros is that there is still a huge aftermarket support for them. You can actually buy a brand body for a 69 Camaro that includes the doors and trunk lid for $13,500. You just need a VIN number from a donor car to use it. So your buddy would just have to swap over all his good parts to the new body after it's painted.

ECS is great! Especially when you have all the time in the world to wait for parts and don't expect them to arrive soon, or in a timely manner... what-so-ever! I'm pretty sure they wait (potentially several days) until the truck at the warehouse is full before it gets picked up by the carrier to get shipped out. Up until about 2010 orders would ship out same day or next day, after about 2013 they got really bad with shipping and most orders don't even leave the warehouse for about 4 or 5 days, that doesn't even include the actual shipping time! The upside is they have a great catalog of parts with many options for a lot of European cars and pretty competitive pricing.

Yeah, ECS is great, when their great. But they do constantly drop the ball. They LOVE to say things are in stock when they aren't, and their customer service is terrible. I won't buy anything with them ever again after my last experience. they say a part was in stock, so we ordered a part for a customer's car. The part never arrived. We contacted customer service countless times. They always said it would be shipping out in the next day or 2, which never happened. After a couple weeks, we ended up ordering the same part from FCP Euro. They had it shipped out the next day for us. After the part arrived from FCP, and we got the part installed and the car back to the customer, we tried cancelling the order with ECS. They refused to cancel the order. They said the order was already sent to their vendor and they couldn't cancel it. But if it was "in stock" like they said, why did it have to be ordered from a vendor? Got a "manager" on the phone (probably wasn't actually a manager) and he basically told us to go pound sand and we couldn't cancel the order. Had to contact my credit card company and file a charge back for it in order to get my money back. We use to spend lots of money with them for customers. Although we had a few hiccups with them before, and with their "in stock" items not actually being in stock, that was the last straw and we won't do business with them again after that.

@@BillDerr Similar experiences, which is why I shop elsewhere first (usually FCP or Eurotuning) and only use ECS if it's the last and only place available. You're experience was likely of many others and mine, where they drop ship items from another warehouse or vendor that was supposed to have it in stock but was extremely lazy and terrible with inventory. I ordered a part for my Audi S4 that they drop ship from 034 Motorsports, said it was in stock online when every other retailer was on back order. I even called to confirm with someone that it was in stock before placing the order. After placing the order and waiting several days and not shipping out, I follow-up only for them to say that it not only wasn't in stock and they knew it, they fessed up and said they were taking orders so they could forward them to 034 until there was enough demand in quantity for 034 to make more. Which by the way, took a few months of waiting! By that time, the other places already had it back in stock and available. After that I REFUSE to order from ECS unless I'm absolutely desperate!

To each his own I guess. While it definitely needed more tire to handle the extra power, I would have tried to be much more subtle. I am NOT a fan of oversized wheels/tires extending past the bodywork. I also think something more like the original wheels would have looked better. The new ones are weird. But I love the E30 - I had an early one myself some 30 years ago, and of the 25 or so cars I have owned in my life, it's the one I miss the most.

You not getting yourself back up real soon, but you getting there one at a time. Don't push it. Hate to say this but James I freaking love you since the early video with the Up To Speed series, I was there. Take care dude. Be gentle and don't be too hard on yourself.
