In 2008, Jeremy Clarkson asked what Button would give for “that first win.” Button answered, without hesitation, “Everything.” Clarkson followed up, “The millions, the home in Mallorca, the super model girlfriend?” Button answered again, “Yes, all of it; that’s why I’m here. I want to win.” Clarkson interviewed him again after 2009, and brought up that previous answer and asked him if it had been worth it. Button responded, without hesitation, “Absolutely, couldn’t be happier.” Clarkson then pointed out that he had taken a seventy percent pay cut, and that Richard Branson had try to steal his girlfriend, so it had almost cost him everything. Button responded with, “Yeah, but I’m the F1 world champion. Branson can’t say that.” I always thought that serendipity was so awesome to see.

Please do an episode on the IKA Torino from Argentina. A LOT of history there. Fangio was involved in the making of it. Pininfarina design. And an 84hr Nürburgring race it sorta won on it's first ever abroad race. PLEASE!!

Hey Nolan, I really really really love the podcast but I just don't know how to say this, you missed out on a lot of history of the team. Brawn Gp wasn't just the double diffuser. It was a lot lot more. Honda had made a lot of developments which Brawn worked on. The team was Tyrell one of the biggest f1 teams. It was BAR after that and it was Honda which had one of the best seasons in 2006 in which Jenson finished 3rd or 4th if I remember right. Please please don't leave out the history of these teams because it's the history of this team that makes the story even better. I don't mean to be mean but it's just what I feel

One story with this is that when one of the directors of honda told both brawn and fry that they are leaving the sport, he was in tears brining the news but said that if they couldn't find a buyer, they gave an option to buy the team and honda will give them the budget that was already allocated for them....

I was super bummed when Honda pulled out of F1 in 08, only to learn that they were basically rebranded as Brawn GP and had 2 of my favorite drivers in Jensen and Reubens. Man, the 2009 a F1 season was like a fairytale for me!

Jenson Button was seen as a bright star for UK racing and had not fulfilled his potential, and just before this happened Hamilton appeared and started killing it, so the English public had kind of, written Button off. So he was probably feeling a touch forgotten and looked over, It was a mad surprise to the general public when he won the Title, in a way its as much as a Button story as a Brawn story, which makes it even more crazy

Muppet Explained: James is kind of right you might call a friend a muppet if he or she did something stupid, like saying "wheres my glases" when they are in your hand...that's a muppet move, like you cant take them seriously but usually harmless. A Puppet would would probably be more venomous, you would only use muppet in a serious disagreement if you were really looking to belittle someone. The closest US versions I guess would be like "Doofuss", but even "Doofuss" feels less humiliating, but maybe has the same, between friends kind of use. There is an extra layer of disrespect in that it implies the "Muppet" thinks they are slick but they actually come across as an idiot to everyone else, or maybe that they are playing a role that everyone else is aware of but they are not. You might call you Uncle/cousin a Muppet but you probably would not call your Boss a Muppet unless you were really good friends or really hated them. There is also an implied affection in its use which is hard to explain,the context defines it more.(note: certain places in UK calling a stranger a muppet would end badly) So in context of Ross Brawn, being who he was in F1, from a non driver POV, there are few more well known names in F1 even then. To say "if he finds out you are muppets" shows 1) no knowledge of F1, 2) no Knowledge of the highly educated and universally respected and sought after, men before them, 3) Obvious lack of effort to research what they were entering into, and I suspect therefore showing a lack of foresight and planning in the eyes of Brawn and Co, and possibly 4) Lack of manners and boundaries on the part of the individual from Virgin who felt it wise to belittle (unknowingly) one of the finest minds in F1 history in their first meeting.

My favorite piece of trivia about the Mclaren road engine is that it is actually a design by Nissan for the R390 race engine. Mclaren bought the IP from Nissan.

There might be closed captions in the settings. They might not be in Portuguese but you seem pretty good with written English so it might be easier than just listening. If you have trouble reading English quickly you can also slow the video, I hope this helps :)
