Can I just say how awesome it is that Nolan has a frickin notebook full of “off the script” facts and quotes!? I feel like if I grew up with Nolan we’d be great friends, he’ll I go in depth into an econo-box that I might buy and find all the cool facts about it, and Nolan just digs deep for both Wheelhouse, Up to Speed, the podcast, and anything else he helps out with, Nolan you’re just the best.

I think perhaps giving drivers white water rafting knives to cut their harnesses would be a good safety thing, rather than unstrapping in a burning car they can do a few quick chops on the harness and jump out, they’re light too

Small fun fact on Ronnie Peterson When he raced for Lotus he lamented the car was oversteering too much, so they set up the car to be more understeery. After some laps he came back and said the car was oversteering more. This happens for some time, and at the end they ask why the car oversteers. Peterson replies "the car doesn't turn, so I have to slide it and it slides too much". Turns out the car was understeery, and Lotus threw a day of testing because Peterson didn't understand the car. This never happened to Lauda.

There are so many false statements in this podcast I had to stop listening the first time I tried to listen to it. Used to them being incorrect about rare Merc’s and BMWs, but how the hell does a group of dudes solely making a living off their car enthusiast channel fuck up discussing one of the greatest drivers in history with the absolute best story of any driver in history🤦‍♂️
