that reminds me of my dad growing up, he loved singing in a barbershop quartet and he had many groups he sang with and they went across the country often, it was his hobby and his passion. i wasn't into that kind of music however i most certainty see the appeal, nowadays i know some good barbershop songs but not a whole lot of the classics because they seem to be forgotten to the world, which means they are harder to find. doo wop is similar group music but i like doo wop much more lol and it's much easier to find on the internet.

In the 50's we found our mates, at least we thought so, but as time went on we matured more and things changed and probably most of us never married the loves we had, but anyway it was a great and wonderful time. Hanging out at the corner store whatever it was or at the burger drive in's and going to the dances on the weekends at the Catholic church halls or other ball rooms somewhere and trying to harmonize as a doo wop group (LOL) Teardrops........sigh!

I was born in '43 when young men were leaving high school, preparing to fight and die on foreign soil to protect their families and the soul-dead, bitter, priviledged generations to come who now hate America. In '52, my two big brothers were fighting for their lives in Korea while I was safe in my bed each night listening to this music on my little radio and discovering and thanking God Almighty that I had and at 80, still have a soul. RIP all you beautiful boys. I hope to see you in glory.

The black musicians of the late 40's through the 60's were the best of that era. They knew how to harmonize and entertain their audiences much better than most white musicians, especially in the doo-wop segment. I'm 75 years old and I can honestly say that this music kept me from ever having any serious racist feelings throughout my lifetime. The words and messages in all of these songs were universal and spoke to the heart, no matter your what skin color. As I got into my teens I better understood the injustice many of the black artists suffered and it pissed me off. I can't stand most of the music today as there is too much of it without that universal message. Thank you Cuervo for this wonderful presentation. I wished more younger people would listen to some of this music...there is a lot to be learned from it ! My grown children and even my grandchildren know many of these old songs thank god and they don't push me away when I play them.
