I don't know if anyone else has said yet, but the Pale Cheese Yellow is probably meant to be 'Pale Chrome'! :-) Chrome is a yellow paint pigment, and it lines up with what's left on the pallet.

I was thinking citrine as well but if you look closely the second to last letter is likely an M so chrome makes the most sense

I noticed there was. M and a E at the end so I thought it could've been pale cream or something similar to that. Interesting you said that it could've been Pale Chrome. I never heard of that before😊

The gold paint might've gone green because it used copper in the pigment, that oxidized? Kind of like old pennies or the statue of liberty. I don't know. >.>

My mom had a genuine Stacy doll in the 60's, and it had gold earrings that once wet ended up turning half her face green - and it wasn't even very old then. (Mom did not appreciate me having her precious doll always be sick in bed, but "mom - HALF HER FACE IS GANGRENOUS! \0-0/ It's a miracle she's even alive!") *cough* Anyway, I'm guessing mixed metals - maybe with *some* gold - used to be more popular than it is today for gold paint and such. Maybe because of too many complaints in the end, that it turned stuff green.

It looks like those three other watercolours were added after by whoever owned the set. The vertical spot looks like it originally had something like a white gouache in it ☺️

I really love Steph's confidence. The only media she seems to be apprehensive about is the camera, but all other art media is like, "yeah i got this." Even if it's unfamiliar. I think that's part of why ive loved watching y'all all these years. There's such an ease with how you approach exploration, and it's so inspiring!

I have a painting instruction book from 1914, and in the back is an advert for a Winsor Newton heraldic paint set containing metallics- a silver made from aluminum, and the gold paint was genuine gold! I was a bit surprised they were using an aluminum based powdered pigment back then.

I think maybe “pure cheese” is meant to be “pure citrine”, citrine is a bright yellow (sometimes greenish) gemstone, do it would make sense.

Pale cheese might have originally been abbreviated as "pale char" for pale chartreuse!
