I remember you saying you were disappointed with the full auto shotgun. I was the same, but now I've gotta try it! It's awesome to see how complex this game really is.

Shotgun shells with the full auto: stonks. Also I might have to see if this strategy is still viable because the limitations set by the inability to hotkey weapons, unlike with what you can do on PC. Still a nice tech that been uncovered.

So I did a practice run of the icon, no chainsaw, as I'm working on my Nightmare Extra Lives 100% No Chainsaw run. I need to learn how to crucible the icon, cause DANG. Lost an extra life each phase, it's such an endurance fight if you don't crucible him. Full auto tech saved my butt, though!

The full auto mod also turns tentacle rooms into essentially an ammo buffet.

I love how the game seems to grow in depth with each day. like all these mods which at first appeared to be useless, but actually have a very good mechanic behind them that you first need to master to bring out all its potential.

Hey Mayo, just wanted to say a quick thanks for making these videos. I’ve just started my second play though of Doom Eternal on Ultra Violence and I saw your video on the Microwave Beam and the stun lock capabilities it has, and it’s been beyond useful, it’s really helped me become a much better player in combat. I went through my first playthrough and I never even touched the Microwave Beam, now I’m kicking myself for not using it, it’s made things so much easier knowing I can perform a quick stun lock, plus the health bar readout, and then unload Sticky Bombs for a rapid but high damage attack. So thank you, because it’s pretty cool being able to apply these tricks to my combat style and watch how much better and more fluid combat becomes, with the added bonus of making me feel like a huge badass afterwards

Honestly, I don't think this ammo management is a game changer at all. You got other weapons to switch from, and chainsawing for ammo isn't a bother at all and it is in fact a mechanic. Slowing down your game for a measly +2/+5/+8 net shells isn't that important, until you self-handicap the game. It would be a lot better if they instead shed shotgun-shells like they shed armor while on fire.

I do like the full auto shotgun mod, but the complaints that it leaves you too slow in higher difficulties wasnt even the problem for me. The problem for me was that it simply takes too many weapon points to put into the weapon to be worth it when it can be better spent elsewhere.

Doing it on fodder seems pretty useless since why would you want three shotgun shells over chainsawing it for more ammo on all weapons?

I really like these kinds of videos. Gonna go try this out right now. Maybe it’s easier to get the full auto kill when demons are staggered but I’m surprised you didn’t suggest to combo this technique with microwave beam. Get a demon fairly weak, beam it until it’s about pop, then finish with auto shotty to profit

I’ve been finding it incredibly useful for my UN run. Take out weak points and full auto them. Super helpful on Hell on Earth, Exultia and Cultist Base for Arachnatrons and Mancubi.

It actually makes sense about the combat shotgun and the Schockhammer X/Kugelgewehr from Wolfenstein The New Colossus/The Youngblood to be powerful gatling style shotguns, Doomguy is basically the descendant of William BJ Blazkowicz.

I like how you're evolving and becoming better as a player. I myself have played the game in the worst settings possible and I can not emphasize how some of these tips help me get through some sections mainly because I don't have enough fps to know what I'm doing. I did upload a gameplay on my channel but I won't advertise it since it's not cool doing it on some else's page.

I find it so fascinating that we’re still learning some stuff about Doom Eternal and still discovering new combos. I guess this just shows that the devs genuinely did put a lot of time and effort into this FPS masterpiece.

It may be that I always main heavies in games so I'm used to being slow, but I LOVE the fullauto mod in group fights. It's all about finding the right opening to be able to safely use it. It doesn't slow you down *too* much either, and is just so satisfying in general. It's better used for taking out a conga-line of weaker enemies rather than unloading all 24 of your precious shells into a heavy enemy. Of course, the ammo-return mastery is pretty nice too :p

Equipping the cheat code inf ammo while auto shotgun is the BEST

Full auto was the first mod I got for it the only thing that came to mind was wow that's a lot of power at once

Full Auto Shotgun, Sniper Shot, Microwave Beam...these are the “Pro” mods because their somewhat hidden benefits are only recognized by those who can perfect the combat loop. When I first started playing, Sticky Bombs, Micro Missiles, and the Heat Blast were the mods of choice because they were easy to understand their benefits and allowed for “sloppier” gameplay. The Sticky Bombs for the shotgun have a snap feature when you aim with it (good timing mechanism to learn the quick switch firing...fire the sticky as soon as it snaps and you’ll get a direct hit every time). Micro missiles are easy to understand - but man when I understood the power of that sniper shot, it’s now always my first choice.

Very interesting. Once again, we have another example of Doom Eternal's combat chess gameplay. My only contention is that while the Master upgrade definitely sells this mod, it takes awhile to unlock so there may be some grind time here, especially if you want to go ahead and unlock it before playing more advanced levels.

I'm doing the no upgrade play through right now and can definitely confirm that I run out of shells (and every other ammo) hella quick, so this is an interesting thing to keep in mind and I hadn't honestly even given the full auto much thought since my first play through

I love that Full Auto Mod for the Shotgun. I've found myself using it a good bit after I hit a big enemy with an Ice Bomb..Freeze them, Ballista or Rocket, then I'll hit them with the Full Auto Shotty. It definitely does a bunch of damage and it does it really fast..

We need to see a full campaign full auto only run

I will most likely use the sticky bomb ballista chaingun assault rifle and the RPG which I recently begun using

The drone taking 3 fuel is probably to make people focus more on getting the headshot for ammo in stead of wasting fuel

Bruh I barely even switch it out same with the precision bolt (on xbox it auto locks onto weakpoints and really helps with spiders and revanents)

I personally use pb meathook super shotgun on most heavies then full auto to regain the shells used and still get a lot of damage from ssg

This makes me wish super shotgun had a second mod even more. I've always wanted a "meat spear" like Scorpion that pulls demons towards you, damaging other enemies in its way, launching them if you let go early, and for mastery semi freezes them (slows them down and makes them drop health when shot at). That would pair so goddamn well with full auto combat shotgun

how do you efecentlty and fast swich weapons to the one i want i know the mouse wheel up down trick for balista and supershotgun and the keyboard shortcuts but tose are far away from my fingers i do you have a mouse whit extra buttons on it

I only just started using it and it is absolutely amazing

I can't agree with this conclusion that it's a 'game-changer'. It's a gimmick weapon mod for self-handicapped runs. That's not the same thing. Shit. You can't even get the mastery skill unlocked until mid-late campaign unless you cheese checkpoint reloads to get the 15 pinky kills, and even then you have to wait until mission 4. If the auto-shotty's a 'game changer' for runs with self-imposed handicaps, it goes against the very spirit of that when you must cheese the game to unlock the mastery skill so you can actually use it for most of that run.

I started playing with classic weapon pose and no crosshair (OG doom experience) and I found my play style changed a lot, I'm using the full auto mod a lot more for some reason
