Oh my dear God. I recommended this. I'm not sure if it's because of that but I'm very excited.

Man I remember playing this on 360 and beating everything and getting every achievement. It unlocked a Doom Guy outfit for your Xbox avatar. I think I must be one of a very small handful of people that have it unlocked. Also I remember some of these maps being pretty tough near the end. Edit: also hearing Decino yell "YEEHAW!" Is exactly what I needed this fine Sunday evening.

being a bit late to the doom show (and a bit young) this was actually the first doom chapter I played all the way through. It's nice to see it again.

I love this WAD more than original Doom 2. The levels are just so good.

10:37 "almost done, one enemy left.." here i was expecting an archvile that teleported on the opposite side of the map ressing all the demons. :D

Love this WAD. Really well designed and, compared to vanilla Doom 2, beautiful. Note the neat stuff like the half-open door, and the multiple small elevation changes. Also it loves Into Sandy’s City, it uses it like 3 times throughout the WAD. Only complaint I have is that it deliberately makes you conserve ammo since the only backpack in the WAD is in a secret(?) in the final level where you don’t need it any more. Played this on Xbox myself. iirc, Nightmare has no differences from UV other than respawning enemies. Looking forward to this one!

This is a pretty cool map01, I wasn't expecting it to be that big or that nicely detailed for using standard Doom 2 textures.

If there is one thing I hate about this WAD, it is no backpack until the final level and whatever ammo you do get seems to run out too quickly. I replayed it recently and forgot how taxing it could be, so kudos to you for plowing through it. Still, this first level isn't so bad once you know what to expect.

I've always loved the visuals for this first map, the brown texture works surprisingly well with the blue metal.

I did play it on 360 and it was a hell of a good time but very painful on console. I'm loving your playthroughs and I will be donating to your patreon very soon!

Really like that you're not just blasting through everything, but also take the time to talk a bit about tidbits/secret secrets (err, yeah) in the maps as well. Like that message for instance :)

The 360 port does have the Nightmare difficulty, but I think it's the modified one just like in the BFG Edition, where the projectiles fly at a normal speed and Pinkies and Spectres run at a normal speed.

Your Midi for this map is marvelous, and has helped make this map one of my favorites to take the edge off after a long, stressful day. Good video, but superb midi work too, Mr. dutch doomer dude.

Map01: The earth base A fairly tough opening map that will probably catch you off guard, since you expect no challenge from an opening level. The encounters are well balanced but difficult. A nice introduction. Map02: The pain labs A step up in difficulty, but enjoyable nonetheless. The map has more tricks up its sleeve and the secrets are better hidden. Also, it's located in HELL. Overall, a nice map. FYI I'm going to do this for every upcoming map so i can flex my knowledge about this map pack.

awesome stuff decino! I do remember playing this map so many times on the Xbox 360 BFG Edition, so many memories. One time, after killing the imps and pinkies in the crate maze area, I immediately got the yellow key and ran straight through that small yellow door and let everything teleport in. So as I got the super shotgun and encountered the Hell Knight, one sneaky revenant crept up right behind me, and I was like: Where the hell did you come from? 😂😂

This level was so important for my love for DooM, because I don't think I'd be as hooked if I only had Entryway to replay on the demo.

Idk what it is but there's a sweet satisfaction I get watching an imp dies from a standard shotgun blast at a meter or two distance. Their death animation just matches perfectly with it.

Played NRFTL for the first time on the XBox One Unity port. All in all it’s definitely a good port for casual players and first-timers now than it’s been patched, and it’s a lot less fuss than setting up GZDoom or PRBoom+. And this WAD is really fantastic. Can’t speak to the fast monsters aspect because Unity Doom’s nightmare has no turbo Pinkies, just fast projectiles.

I like no rest for the living because of how it tells the story of doomguy clearing out the rest of the demons on earth after beating the icon of sin only to find out that a cyber demon is building his own personal army of demons to continue the invasion

Me, after beating 'No rest for the living' on UV many times for the past 5 years: "wow i am so good at this 😆" decino right now: "greetings everyone and welcome to NRFTL on UV fast monsters". Me now: "oh... ok...😮" All kidding aside, this is a beautifull set of maps, i am really happy that you're playing them.

I remember playing the first level of no rest for the living over and over again because I couldn’t get the full game. this level made me love doom due to the fact of its size and monster count.

Def looking forward to seeing you go through vivisection, that map is brutal!! Also the X360 version DOES have nightmare, but there were no fast pinkeys or fire balls on that setting, just rapid fire from enemies and double ammo is all (so basically MUCH easier)

Coming here after watching you beat Sunlust is... a change of pace, to say the least..

Finally, decino plays my favorite doom episode

recently played this and master levels. i missed most secrets in this first map, making the rest of my journey much more difficult. you'll appreciate the challenge of these maps. IMO they belong in the official canon along with final doom
