Takeaways
- Michael Saylor's bet on Bitcoin has paid off, demonstrating the potential of high volatility assets.
- Speculative manias often precede currency debasements, making Bitcoin and crypto of interest.
- The borrowing strategy of Hugo Stinnes (WWI) and Michael Saylor (today) highlights the importance of real assets.
- Pumpamentals and the flywheel effect can create market distortions and lead to irrational behavior.
- The Russia-Ukraine conflict and geopolitical tensions have significant implications for energy markets.
- The dangers of do-gooders and climate newspeak can lead to the suppression of speech and the lack of trade-off discussions.
- The abundance of natural gas in North America has prevented a potential recession and supported the manufacturing and industrial sectors. Canada and the US have significant resource potential under the right leadership.
- The US is the most prolific natural gas producer in the world, with a sophisticated downstream manufacturing sector that takes advantage of cheap hydrocarbons.
- Mexico is a hidden beneficiary of the natural gas boom, with an industrial boom happening in northern Mexico powered by cheap natural gas.
- Secure borders are important for stability and economic growth.
- The price discrepancy between natural gas and oil has significant implications for the economy.
- Nuclear power and gold play important roles in the future of energy and wealth preservation.
- The AI revolution and the electrification of various industries will drive the demand for energy.

I had my daughter evaluated by the Russian School of Mathematics in NYC because our public schools are garbage. The teacher told me that in Russia they start learning algebra in kindergarten. Russia will be eating our lunch someday.

@@HoroRH Yes 2X speed would be 5th Element LeeLoo level comprehension. Used to work in Canadian primary industries (power generation, papermaking, mainly) so everything recounted seemed accurate to me. Entire industries hollowed out, sold (e.g., Alcan thx to BC province woke-chicanery), destroyed, financialized so Canada has been that woke-regulatory tail event bellweather indicator of what happens in America.

If the change in my pocket can buy the gas to power my home for 11 days then why is my bill $350 and while I agree with at least half of what is said , any discussion of the negative consequences of franking is conspicuously absent. I will have to explore more of the chickens work to maybe find some

Doomberg loses me on his oil view. He says WTI would be 40 bucks without a war premium. $40 risk premium is comical, seems that he's just doubling down on a bad call he made 9 months ago and in no way reflects the existing demand and marginal costs out there. Thanks for the interview.

There is too many things to considerate like 20 dollars barrel when Trump was president other is devaluation of currency and War. What if the usa dollars it will worth 1/2 of what is right now in 5 years so this 80 dollars for barrel will be diferent value that now days compare overage minimum wage . Its complicated .

With the benefit of a month's hindsight D seems to have made a bad call on the oil price effect of UKR attacking Russian refineries. Brent has gone down, not up due to the refinery attacks. Still, most of his insights are very good.

Disagree with Doomberg about canada’s relatively smart immigration policy.. esp under Trudeau. Also Canada’s economy is largely oligopolistic, whether its telecom, banking, but his point about unwillingness to exploit ressources is spot on… Quebec would rather block o&g pipelines ‘to protect their natural habitats’, so instead they accept tankers in the st-lawrence river 😂

This guy is a 🤡 ever since he suddenly changed his stance on oil AFTER the price move 😂 I remember last year there was so much hype on this guy. A guy who hides his identity, doesnt buy the themes he writes about, doesn't talk about individual stocks. Has zero skin in the game but basically is some sort of "information guru" behind a paywall Ofcourse.

I’m not sure why some here argue against the bird on energy price being artificially high- it is easily proved from the technological advance we have undeniably witnessed. But bird is wrong with his latent anti Trump bias and praise for Canada’s immigration policy and institution . Bird must mean a Canada “ had” such policy at one time in the past.

I can look away from the animation but I do wish D would get a more natural sounding vocal filter or turn it off. He sounds like a teenager with a computer that doesn't keep up with what the microphone delivers.
