This is perfect for looking at the ceiling at 3 am. Seriously the concept of just drowning as a musical form seemed so interesting to me, maybe its because i almost died of drowning once when i was 12 years old at a river(was at a family party basically some random person just so happened to help me out, lucky me i guess...). Somehow after this point I wanted to go swimming and trained for like 5 years until i got tired of it, shit became exhausting and i didn't know what to do with my life. Im now currently 19 and want to pursue music and ive finally got the courage to just try it out(playing bass guitar for 4 months as of writing and trying out daws for now). At this point, at this time, at this hour, I hope just for everything in my life to be at well. Thanks Boris, I cant stress enough how important your music is for me as of now.

00:00 Flood
@ajent13375 жыл бұрын
My own personal interpretation is that the first riff on the album is the first human tribe. The second overlapping riff is the second tribe and the complication of the overlapping rhythms represents conflict between different groups as human beings proliferate and overrun the world. The reverbed-out drumming at the end of Flood I is nature reclaiming its own order through rainfall and the actual "Flood" occurring. Flood II is the bittersweet peace felt by the earth after mankind has been brought back to its proper place in nature, their everyday rivalries and strife transcended by their fight for survival against nature. It ends suddenly, as Flood III represents humankind rebuilding its cruel machinations, innocent and beautiful at first, but with a sinister undertone. The peak of Flood III is the annihilation of the natural order and the destruction of any notion of oneness with the world, echoing only the tragedy of the flood and the full heaviness of mortality overtaking the spirit. Flood IV is the empty banality of existence marching on as mortality slowly sits in. The violent oceans ripple out into a calm. Heavier than a tsunami.

from 25:07 and on I really started tearing up, today's been a hard day for no apparent reason and this is everything It's been 3 years since I posted this comment. I really felt when I posted it that due to my own actions or some sickness I would possibly not be alive in a few years time. But I'm here. Life hasn't necessarily gotten easier. As I've grown up things have gotten more and more complicated. Things nowadays have the ability to so easily push you into dark little corners of your mind. But unlike back when I posted this originally, I feel much more capable of dealing with the darkness. It isn't easy- some days it takes everything I have. Other days, like today, it takes coming back to a piece of music that will comfort me and strengthen me. I'm here. In some ways, I always will be. If you take the time to read this, call it corny, call it sappy, call it overdramatic, call it whatever you want. I just hope you're well. Because I am, and it's a good feeling.

Flood Album Analyse : Flood I - The rains started, droplets and more droplets but no one believe that this light rain will become to a flood in few hours.Flood II - The rains doesn't want to stop and began to be stronger and stronger, so much water are falling from the dark sky that people began to realise that a flood is comming soon.Flood III - The mother nature showed her power by a strong and terrible flood, so many people died and all the survivals stayed without their houses looking for missing family members . Very sad moments, people are still in shock and cries alot.Flood IV - Finally the rain stopped but the chaos is still present so now will begin a very sad silence and the flood can not wash the tears from the survivals.Dedicated to all the families who lost their loved ones in the flood.Mickael Bismuth 12/03/2018

You can argue whether it drones too much, but it doesn't stop me from considering this a 10/10 of master piece. Everything flows so well together. I will have to say though while each part is amazing in their own way, I have to give it to Flood 3 when it gets heavy for being one of the greatest climaxes in music. Its super heavy and intense and the chord progression gives it both this apocalyptic and triumphant feeling that leaves me in awe. It's like a bitter sweet ending to a story where the hero slays the threat, but the world around them is reduced to ruin and all they loved is now ash. Once again, absolutely fantastic.

Every time I want to listen to any part of Flood, I need to listen to it in its entirety. This album is an example of music that goes beyond itself - it heals, it changes, it calms. This can change your life and I don't think I'm exaggerating when I say that. This is beyond art. It maybe can help you find something true within yourself - it has helped me in this regard.

This is great, very ambient and pretty sounding, but I'd say I still like Feedbacker more. The guitar work in it is just mind blowing.

Flood III is a musical masterpiece and quite possibly their best song (then again every week there’s another Boris song I would say is their best). This ain’t my favorite Boris album but damn is that song so good.

The section before Flood II had me absolutely floored when I experienced this on acid. It felt like I was enduring some sort of psychic beating but I had friends around tripping with me too, dark room. I had never listened to any of Boris’s stuff prior to that but that experience fr sure changed that lmao

It's so progressively dissonant like a pattern of pieces of wood being mixed around to the point they eventually reach each their own original resting place in the stream of endless rainwater. And is that buildings and structures giving way to the flood I hear on occasion?
