Welcome back. Today, we're in Winchester VA, taking a look at not one, but two malls once again. One of them is really tiny, though, so it'll go by very quickly.

I live near here and worked in this mall for years. This mall has so many ups and downs with its tenant roster that it can go from what you see here to dead. They do refill stores as they leave, I will give that, but after the late 90s-early 2000s it never was the same again.

The mall felt very bland and cramped inside. It reminded of walking around in a Walmart, very congested with all the kiosks and small walking area. My favorite part of your mall videos is the driving up and driving around the exterior. It's cool to see the malls surrounding area and not just the interior.

I know you've done Tanglewood mall in Roanoke, VA, but have you done Valley View? I think that would be a great living mall to showcase. It's always busy and has pretty much 100% occupancy if I'm not mistaken. Plus, decent architecture!!

My favorite video out of all that I've watched so far. I haven't been in a mall since December, 2019 but after watching a boat load of your videos this past month I'm dying to go. So I'm going to Triangle Mall in Raleigh today. Wish me luck!

I actually spent a good chunk of my life living in the region, and the Apple Blossom Mall used to be my favorite place to go growing up, especially the old Waldenbooks and what used to be EB Games. There used to be a KB Toys, too. I actually learned to love movies thanks to the movie theater at Delco. I remember watching Return to Neverland and the original Jumanji there, amongst others. It's ashame that there's so much that died and changed thanks in part to lack of interest and part due to the "spirit of progress". No matter what happens to the storefronts, though, the memories will still live on.

the apple blossom mall was a dead mall in the late 90's, early 2000's we used to stop there occasionally on road trips to stretch our legs and it was very retro before the early 2000's renovation.. i remember brick floors, fountains and lots of earth tones....

Awww...Apple blossom will always have a place in my heart. I lived in va for a year when I was an au pair. Mind you if I needed to get some real shopping down I’d just take a drive to Tyson’s.

Glad Simon did not demolish the Apple Blossom mall, but wow is it bland. The Delco Plaza sounds like it is cursed with so many incidents over the years. Excellent video as always.

White causes the other color on the store fronts to pop.And if well maintained gives the filling of cleanliness. Although I agree they could have at least done something with the floor ..

I wish the simon company would take over our Mall in LaVale Maryland the Country Club Mall we've lost Sears Penneys and Banton amongst other smaller stores also no one seems to care if they fill the empty spaces it would be nice if the people up here would try to fill those empty stores do their jobs right.

Simon has no soul, and so it must leech the souls of old malls by turning them into generic husks from which no originality escapes.

Maybe keeping it simple is what works best. I saw nothing wrong with the absolutely busy mall. 😊

Why does JCP has 2 mall entrances and no food court?
@CrowdfundingHell
@CrowdfundingHell 5 жыл бұрын
This was a staple of many JCPenney stores that went into malls for years. The idea was that with TWO entrances to the mall, shoppers would either use the JCP exterior entrances to come inside (creating potential customer foot traffic and sales both coming and going) or cut through the JCP store to bypass a section of the mall, with the same result. Food courts didn't hit most 70s-era malls until the 1980s in my experience. Eating places tended to be scattered throughout the mall up until that time. I used to work in a mall very much like this -- in fact, it was a Simon mall -- that didn't get a food court until the early 80s as part of an expansion, almost ten years after the initial mall was built.
