Doorbell video shows storm knocking down trees in tornado struck Portage, Michigan

Severe storms are tore through the central and southeast U.S., spawning damaging tornadoes, producing massive hail, and killing two people in Tennessee and another in North Carolina.
In Michigan three confirmed tornadoes touched down in the southwest part of the state, according to weather service meteorologist Nathan Jeruzal.
Gov. Gretchen Whitmer declared a state of emergency for four counties.
Kalamazoo County's Portage area was hard hit as a FedEx facility was ripped apart and more than a dozen mobile homes were destroyed.
About 50 people temporarily were trapped inside the damaged facility because of downed power lines.
More than a dozen homes were destroyed in a mobile home park in adjacent Pavilion Township and 16 people were injured, according to Kalamazoo County Sheriff Richard Fuller.

Those storms are so destructive. I can't believe the sheer number of tornadoes that have hit since Monday. 42 tornadoes in all!

because a landscaper is responsible for the tensile strength of a tree? How do you personally think a landscaper could've prevented this?

I don't think the house took a direct hit. You really couldn't see the roof or siding either. New homes today are built cheaply. Most don't even have a basement.

@@marvinhunt8276 I always wondered why Europe typically built buildings with masonry or solid wood and they don't have tornadoes (usually), while in the US we built with fairly fragile 2x balloon framing.

@@moffichu9150 It was just a joke. Though this is one major issue with "planting" fairly large trees as they don't have the root structure needed to support themselves. A tree can't fight high winds without a good root structure. The root balls that pull up in the video are a bit bigger than a recent planting though.

The ground is really saturated, with how easily the trees uprooted. Also have shallow ball roots.

We get a lot of rain in April, lots of torrential downpours and flooding. It feels like 80% of the month is rain and it makes the ground really soft.

Due to a combination of the tree's root system, and the ground being saturated.

@@trustinJesus_only-_Peak intensity. Here, 75 mph at the most. Unless higher gusts occurred at the end.
