Any idea how I can get DD know that the app is not allowing to work my home town and surrounding area including six other towns and villages??? The Phillipino outsource team and supervisors are inept, ignorant, and unequipped to help even though it's a known issue involving other dashers. Anyone have a workaround as I've tried all the troubleshooting tips and the problem is on the programming side?

Wow, after almost 8K deliveries, I just had something happen for the 1st time. A customer chose "hand it to me" in the app but in the comments typed "leave it at the door". So I left it at the door, but still took a photo of it. Later found out the customer lied and reported it as "undelivered" even though he had exited his house and grabbed it. I had plenty of photo evidence along with a good explanation and Doordash did not penalize me in any way. Customers who abuse the system in this way should also be deactivated and not allowed to order anymore! Some people are such slimeballs.

Wow. I guess it's more common than I thought. Since the in-app photo step doesn't pop up when someone chooses "hand it to customer", I'm going to advise to take a photo of it with your phone and keep it in your camera roll for a while in case you have to send it to Doordash, which is what I did. And to their credit, the 3 times I've dealt with customer discrepancies via email, Doordash has been extremely reasonable and helpful to me. I'm sure having 8,000+ deliveries with sky-high stats helps with that also.

You are 100% right about not needlessly communicating with customers. I would say 95%+ use the app specifically because they want as little human interaction possible to get their food. Especially the 30 and under age range. I am a delivery ninja, a ghost in the machine. I wont contact a customer unless I absolutely cannot find their residence and that is super rare in my market. I know some dashers think sending updates and even memes is being nice and "customer service", but DD customers dont want all those needless alerts. They want their food, not a jolly chat. Im a phantom, make the drop and on to the next lol

I've done 7,300 deliveries in the last 2 and a half years, and what I've come to realize is that the business is drastically different when comparing urban/metro areas to the suburbs. Variations in population and order density requires that you change your strategy based on where you are. Advice you hear may be from someone who does it in a different type of area, so don't be surprised if you don't get the same results.

I'm in Fort Worth, TX. I try to stick to the central city (areas adjacent to downtown), mainly because I tend to get more orders there. I usually only dash in downtown Fort Worth itself on weekends or weekdays after 6pm, because parking is free at those times. I've done a few orders that have taken me far out of my zone, especially on the occasion that I get a $20+ order. I've also got some good-paying orders especially when DoorDash runs promotions in the suburbs; normally suburbs involve more driving, although drop-off is easier compared to the greater probability of dealing with apartments, condos, and hotels in the central city.

In some places, it is absolutely worth it to be a top dasher. It really depends on your market and if you are constantly thrown bad orders. I make about $150 a day 7 days a week with just doordash. I do lunch from 9:30am to 11:30am and then I go out for dinner from 5:30pm to 11:30pm. Sometimes I hit my $150 mark a lot sooner and head home earlier, but that is usually the average. I do notice a difference with the top dasher, it is better here for sure. But that is not the case everywhere. The best thing you can do to make the most money with Doordash or uber or whatever is to keep trying different things and accept that it will not be steady all of the time but by the end of the week/month it will balance out pretty much every time.

@BestDasherAlive
@BestDasherAlive Жыл бұрын
i've seen that ppl who want to communicate are just needy and give more tasks and don't give any more money than what the offer originally said. i'd rather just just pick up the food and deliver it and not do "customer service". if the customer has special requests, they should include them in "special requests" for the restaurant when they place their order in the app. if the restaurant doesn't offer "special requests" in the app then they should just pick a diff restaurant or do without whatever their special request is... as someone who orders food from dd a lot, if i have a special request and restaurant doesnt allow in the app to provide additional requests, i don't order from that restaurant using dd. and i've been doing this before i ever started dashing bc it just seemed like the right move to me bc trying to give extra tasks to the dasher when the dasher's job is just to pick up and deliver didn't seem right to me. special requests should be between the restaurant and the customer, not the person delivering the food

I’ve dashed for a total of 4 hours 30 minutes and got 110 so far. Definitely because I was on the “accept every order” flow and because I thought top dasher gives you perks (only need 70% to stay a top dasher) but now I’m going to only accept good orders. Thought this to myself today after I handed off a chipotle delivery to this rude customer who didn’t tip me and I only made 5 bucks off the 3 mile drive… seriously I get it that times are tough and people have less disposable income to spend but come on…… you wouldn’t not tip at a dine in restaurant why wouldn’t you tip the guy who went out of his way to deliver the food to you…. On the other hand, I got a 14 dollar delivery with a 9.50 tip which was definitely nice. For anyone wondering I’m in Jersey - the average hourly drive pay is $25-$26 an hour. I literally live right around the corner from a busy highway with every single restaurant fast food and otherwise. Why wouldn’t I dash? Best of luck everyone and thank you Best Dasher for the informative vid to help us N00bz :)

I skip all of those. I won't take anything less than 6 bucks and that's if it's close. You lose money taking those small orders - both for gas and your time. I'm lucky I'm in a good market - real restaurant town, so I can pretty much dash anytime and be able to get on and get decent orders. There _is_ an algorithm - if you accept the tiny orders, it will keep sending them to you. Throw the small fish back. Average $22/hr here.

I am relatively new to DD, with only 129 deliveries so far. I have been turning down offers which amount to $1/mile or less, and for the most part most of the orders that roll in are between $5 and $8. I have been using the 'distance is too far' as the reason for declining, as I'm trying to get the app to stop giving me extraordinarily long delivery orders. Based on your advice, I'll start using the small order for the small orders. I seem to be averaging about $20-23/hr so far so perhaps I'm not doing too horribly.

this is true. i typically try and only take small # of items orders. sometimes i accept the offer, look at the items, and then unassign if i dont like the item list (gotta be willing to sacrifice your completion rate a lil for this one but sometimes it's worth seeing the items before you make the decision). one time all items were out of stock and i ended up just getting half pay.

I live in a farming state with lots of dead zones. Most of my state isn’t even set up for doordash, yet. But it’s coming. At least that’s what the app says. It has a ton of zones in other parts of my state, but it says coming soon on most of them with a date. I will agree with your advice. But seeing orders that high are rare in my state. Just a lot of low orders going very short distances. I did do a pharmacy one today. That was new to me.

taking the number of items into account, and the cost of the average meal at a restaurant, is the best way to predict hidden tips. for instance, many pizzas from the nicest pizza place around means a party, and the tip will be there, because they want it on time, and they dont want to disappoint the gueests.

In big, dense cities, people there often like the interaction. On Uber Eats, my lowest ranked stat is "communication". At least for people staying in hotels, and if the food has to be left in the lobby, the people being from out of town appreciate a heads up text. Just one example. If delivering to a mansion, like in the San Francisco Seacliff or Pacific Heights, that's when a text or call will not benefit much in way of getting a tip or good feedback, as the customer is more likely to want to remain anonymous for safety reasons or whatever, who knows.

Alright, for me, I am a full time graduate student working on my Masters in Economics (all online), working full time in a warehouse (roughly 48hrs a week). Now I don't have much time to door dash as much, but even just making a hundred or two hundred from a night of driving is useful but without more time driving the numbers would be difficult to multiply. For now it helps pay for gas, food, minor bills, minor savings, etc. I guess like most markets some places will be able to make more using door dash while others will make less. Economic ebs and flows are variable throughout all market systems, as is compensation for various lines of work. I just started dashing a few weeks ago on the side and I highly recommend it to any college students or homeowners who need some extra money. Good video.

BIGGEST thing for my girlfriend and I has and will probably continue to be establishing a relationship with the stores in your zone. Know which stores have crew, don't have crew, which crews are efficient, which crews are inefficient, etc... like you mention... though, I'd stress this is THE most important thing We used to go to 15-20 different stores per shift...now we probably bounce between 7-10 at most. Started around 15-18/hr in Ohio, we are up to 22-25/hr. Shit can still hit the fan, and doing things like taking chances on the night shift can sometimes mean 2/1's all night at taco bell, or sitting for 20 minutes to get a single order at the same taco bell. All depends on your zone and understanding the eb-n-flow.

Communication is always the key to success so having that with a customer is always the right route to go which you learn in customer service and retail that I learned in 15 yrs and it still applies whenever I do Uber/Uber eats. Door dash is new to me where I’m still learning the ropes from watching your videos about it but no disrespect, it’s good to have communication with your customers regarding their food and any type of situation you’re having with the order by being at the restaurant where it might not be ready, just getting started, etc. remember that. Plus you get good tips and somewhat rewards on your app by being somewhat of the peoples champion by your Reputation.

One thing I can recommend from experience, in the beginning, focus more on how many hours you can work in total take-home per day. I wouldn't recommend starting out worrying about how much you're making per hour. Learn from your experience and tailor your strategy based on where you are. That helped me go from 15 to 25 dollars an hour. When I do it in my spare time, I average between 25 to 35.

Wholeheartedly agree. My per hour earnings were absolutely horrible my first few days, but there is a learning curve.

Popeyes always gives me free food at closing when picking up orders. Plus usually get a good tip from people at hotels during that time. So check the location of delivery. Also ask the customer in text, if they want anything else. A lot of times they’ll pay you under the table for a six pack or whatever. Cause they’re jet lagged or just exhausted. And usually get awesome tips, even with just being overly considerate of them.

I just filed a complaint about our Popeyes, they won’t even start an order until a dasher arrives then takes anywhere from 10-30 minutes to make it..

Today was my second day. Didn't realize the woman had three separate orders in three separate towns, during rush hour. One was actually inside a mall at a restaurant there. Whole trip took an hour. For 11$. Never clicking on multiple locations for one delivery again.

I really liked this video, but also wanted to add to this. I see it the opposite as said in video. When it's $11, it's actually $8. You'd normally not take an $8, so if it's busy don't accept the $11 (-$3).

This is my first 2 weeks. 80 delivers made. The only thing i worry most about it is acceptance rate. I thought they would not let me receive any orders under 50%. But based of what I have seen in your video, you’ve made quite a lot of $ with a very short acceptance rate. Perhaps I should keep on declining until i get a banger $. Thanks for the advice.

To give you an idea, I dash in a slower, lower income area. I recently hit 0% acceptance rate and made $25 on 3 orders. The key is dashing in the very busy times where you’ll have lots of orders to choose from instead of sitting around waiting for orders to show up.
