April 2020 - I have not been to the Cleveland area in many years but, growing up there was frigid Winters and frequent trips to grandparents and aunts/uncles homes was a true delight! We often started visits in the early afternoon (1 or 2 maybe) and stayed until the late, late evening (10 or 11 p.m.). One grandparent's house was Better Homes neat and organized, while the other was packed with the books, trinkets and baubles of a lifetime! In both homes we dined with relatives and listened to lengthy discussions on life, work, love and neighbors, or projects to renovate this room or repair that car; it was THE social time BEFORE Social Media! So great! Both sets of grandparents are gone now, yet their homes still stand with a few changes noticed on Google Street-level views; the 3 double-door barn where my mother's parents celebrated their 50th wedding anniversary was struck by lightning and then was torn down, and the line of pine trees my father's father planted as a wind-break on the north side of their backyard have been replaced by a white picket fence! These locations were all in the suburbs of Cleveland, a half-hour or more away from downtown but, where Dorothy Fuldheim's commentary reached out to a young boy and told him about the world and it's happenings! I am 53 years old this year and don't really know HOW she influenced my "views" of our world but, I remember enough to remember her and that very strong voice! The memory of it brought me here on KZfaq yesterday and what a joy it is to see her again! Thank you for uploading this video!

Even this one video can teach 2020's young people the wisdom of understanding their experiences and how those "build" the person over a lifetime! I loved it when Dorothy mentioned shaking the hand of Mr. Albert Einstein! Oh my goodness, to experience that moment of "special relativity" with one of today's great minds! Dare I even imagine how many of the current young journalists are ready to recant the time they met a groundbreaking geneticist or maybe Jeff Bezos, Elon Musk, or Mark Zuckerberg before any of these men made their first marks upon our society? "Let's bomb Russia" was less meaningful than today's "Let's bomb Iraq" because the latter one we actually went forth and DID! Wholly cow but, hey, that is a nice reference to how a television personality pundicated something that didn't happen versus the reality of something that DID happen! In April of 2020 the world hardly knows a voice as strong as Dorothy Fuldheim or Walter Cronkite but, from the depths of the COVID-19 pandemic, we have each other to depend on for "real" news and the means to broadcast each of our voices out to the world, if we wish!
