We rent it there. It was only 50 THB pp. which is like 1.50 USD.

Don't ride a horse. Think about animal welfare before doing it or open your mind and remove those colonialist thoughts from your head.

I don’t get it, the tourists make the mess and then we expect the locals to keep it clean. Wouldn’t it be so much better if the tourists did the right thing and cleaned up after themselves. I know a lot of the stuff on the beaches probably comes from the ocean. But again this is because we don’t hold onto our items until we can dispose of it correctly.

Why when tourist go to Thailand say never ride the elephant but when they come to uk never say to the queens guard don’t ride the horse ?

Because the skeleton of the elephant is built completely differently. Most of the time you ride an elephant on their neck! Another angle to consider is that because elephants are so much bigger and stronger and scarier, the methods used to train them by people are much more often cruel and consist of “breaking” the elephant in a different way than you do a horse, for example by beating, stabbing, separating from mother elephant, putting in chains etc. All methods which are not required to ride a horse. If people want to ride a horse, they should at least check if the horse is in good condition like healthy, not skinny etc. We also think that the queens guard horses are treated very well.

It may be different but it is very similar. Horse riding is very cruel. It is by definition slavery and abuse. Every animal wants to live wild, free, naturally with it family in its natural habitat. One love
