You do get a rise in alk depending on how much carbonate is in your rocks. When I started this 1 year ago, my alk was from 8.0 to 11.9 dkh, but my corals are happy as Chris said if they were happy, don't worry about it. It did drop back down to 8dkh. My ph stayed at 8.45 to 8.6 In 24-hour span. And growth is massive.

Just got my alk increase too, mine is up to 9.7 but my ph is quite steady at 8.25-8.33.

Allo That method is amazing. I have to try it also. I guess you are not using any calcium reactor at all in your system ? Another question, with a calcium reactor there is a danger of precipitation if you add too fast. Could this be a danger if you dose too much Kalk too fast in the system ?

You are correct I am not using a calcium reactor however many people using this method do. When doing this method starting out there is always going to be some type of alkalinity spike in the system however when done correctly it should have no impact on your corals.

Hey man quick question, what would be your preferred method to calculate daily evaporation on your tank? I think I have calculated wrong

The easiest way would be to start with a known amount of top off water. Let say you start with a 5 gallon pail, then measure what your tank used in a 24-hour period. That should put you pretty close. Then, from there, you can fine tune your dosing until your top off pretty well never comes on at all.

I'm using a 20 gal brute container and it lasts 5-7 days

I'm using the 20 gallon Brute and it lasts me 5-7 days based on roughly 10L per day dosed

Ok so I’ve been trying to implement this method. I have set two intervals up, one from 10pm to 12 pm. The other interval being from 12:00am to 10 am. I have it set up for dosing 1200ml which is my evaporation. I also have it set in advanced If PH > 8.29 then Off but it’s dosing a lot more then 1200ml per day. Also it dose during the day when I don’t have an interval set. Any advice? I have been shutting it off after my morning interval at 10 so it doesn’t dose and then turning it back on at night. Yesterday I dosed 3200ml and no wonder my return chamber on my AIO filled up to much

What is your daily PH average? If it is not 8.29, then you shouldn't have it set that high. Check your daily average PH. Set it to that and only raise it as your daily average goes up until you reach your desired results or the maximum it will reach without dosing more then your daily evaporation

No that’s what I did, I started with the daily average and every day I upped it according to my daily average. But why am I dosing like 3200ml when I have it set to 1200ml? Is the > 8.29 then off code over riding what I have set in my intervals?

@Kenny_Edmonton I'm not 100% sure on that as I am not using a DOS so I would have to look into it. I will say something doesn't seem right as it shouldn't be over riding what you have set as a max dose. I think maybe it has to do with your set period. You should be able to just set it to dose from 12am to 11:59pm as 1 period and then set it to only max dose 1200ml during that time.

That yellow line into the doser looks kinked, that may be a problem eventually 🤔

It's not kinked although you are right it looks that way. I do however go over all my dosing tubing on all systems monthly to make sure I can hopefully avoid those types if issues. 👍

Eventually, they won't really be visible. It makes it much easier for cutting frags and trimming colonies back later on to avoid coral warfare. I'm trying something different this time since my crash. Look back in my videos and you can see how overgrown my tank was before the crash and it was really tough keeping up with it.
