Question….does Kalk potency drop over time in vat?
@niagarafirecorals4 күн бұрын
Yes, absolutely the kalkwasser will lose its potency, the longer it sits in a vat. Try only mixing what you will go through in 3 - 4 days.

I have been doing Chris method for 2 years and yes it works. I does my kalk at night when lights go out and stops when light come on. My ph at night is 8.3 morning is 8.5. I keep my alk at 6.5dkh. And my corals grow like weeds. In one year I have full grown Colonie and I have also notice RTN and STN has never happened with ph levels staying above 8.2 For everyone that whats more info look at reef bum videos and find the first videos with chris. It explains everything

Allo That method is amazing. I have to try it also. I guess you are not using any calcium reactor at all in your system ? Another question, with a calcium reactor there is a danger of precipitation if you add too fast. Could this be a danger if you dose too much Kalk too fast in the system ?
@niagarafirecorals29 күн бұрын
You are correct I am not using a calcium reactor however many people using this method do. When doing this method starting out there is always going to be some type of alkalinity spike in the system however when done correctly it should have no impact on your corals.

Sorry to hear about your eye issues Steve. I have a macular hole in my left eye and there is nothing that can be done about it. Glasses won't help. I use glasses for reading and computer use to help my ageing right eye. It's frustrating as hell. I can only imagine what you are going through. Hang in there man!

Doing my best 👍

This was quite helpful as someone who's unfamiliarwith ICP tests. Halogens will help things take higher par. This also keeps the dinos in your corals and out of your sandbed if you overshoot your light intensity. Try to find a Balling Light tank with dinos, they're rare because those are in the Trace 3..

Did the salinity change happen fast? How soon did the damage appear and for how long?
@niagarafirecoralsАй бұрын
Yes within 1 day and most of the corals died. Check out more update videos following this one
@rjcanlas7007Ай бұрын
Watching this after my salinity just raised up over the span of 2 days to from 1.026 to 1.030 and my dumb self ended up panicking putting so much RODI back to get back, TOO FAST! In my case it was due to my ATO, getting lowered into the water that it re-siphoned water back So far one acro only affected! Crossing fingers

The genetic testing will be done first. If it isn’t Lebers Heredity Optic Neuropathy then they would dig more into other options. At this point they are pretty convinced the genetic testing will give Steve his answer. Just jumping in to help my brother with this answer. Thank you for your support and input and we will certainly keep that in mind moving forward.
