I did a 6 week experiment on my tank by daily dosing Redsea's trace-colors supplement. I dosed 0.6 ml of each supplement (A, B, C and D) every day, and took a picture of my corals during this period. Check out the results on water chemistry and SPS coloration here.

Hi Ash - i think the trace colors program would be useful if you are using the rest of the redsea program including nopox. Their manuals clearly recommend using the entire product line: foundation buffers , nopox, aminos and trace elements. For me, it didn't seem to make a difference using it on its own

What kits are you using to do all of your testing? And are you taking the results and just inputting them manually into the Apex Online? Or are these things testing automatically and uploading to apex on their own? I only ask because I have been patiently awaiting that Neptune Trident and I was wondering if you had an alternative

thank you for this video, I have a question for you just to put it up there do you think you got more growth from dosing this than normal? I can see a very small change in colour to the pictures that was in your video. my last question on this topic because I plan to use the trance elements to lower my nitrate with nopox without stripping my po4 back down. how do you work out the amount of calcium per day your tank is using. thumbs up for this vid.
@TheBioReef
@TheBioReef 5 жыл бұрын
I didn't notice anything out of the ordinary when it came to growth. To figure out calcium consumption. the best way is to test it, then leave the tank as is without dosing or water changes for 2 to 3 days, then measure again. Subtract the value from the second test from the first test and then divide that by the number of days that have passed between the two tests; that will give you the daily consumption of Calcium. Then dose a supplement that will provide the exact amount of calcium your tank is consuming daily.

Great video. I did see substantial increase in nutrients and my sandbed turned a variety of colors. What I did was take the money I spent on the trace elements and got a very good salt. Switched to tropic Marin which is expensive but had more of the trace element in the salt so don't have to dose and the switch was more beneficial and I don't have to adjust the dosing as much since the salt mixes closer to the parameters I want in the first place.

@@TheBioReef I hear you. I mixed the salts in the beginning gradually mixing more of the new salt and even then saw improvement. I was one of the people that thought salt doesn't matter. Changing to better salt closer to parameters I wanted also decreased major elements I had to dose. I kinda lowered the amount of error in dosing by taking me out of the picture. Less work more enjoying the tank.

I am using Triton other methods they recommend tropic Marin of course I thought it didn't matter I was using he marine mix before I started Triton and it was very good. I went to red sea black bucket when started triton cuz hw was out of stock at the time and my numbers were all over the place. The salt mixed at numbers way higher than I wanted made the switch and now will only use either he marine mix or tropic Marin as they are very similar in parameters and consistency. Aren’t u dosing esv bionic??, that already has all trace elements in it, I’ve use the Red Sea also , didn’t see much of a change, but I dosed it when using plain brs two part, I did like the fauna marin liquid trace elements into the brs liquids, that seemed to work well but it always seemed that there was sediment on the bottom of the container, so I stopped that also!

@ttnguyen98
@ttnguyen98 5 жыл бұрын
AmroAzul TV EV bionic suggests equal part dosing for both calcium and alkalinity whereas Red Sea foundation uses different amount for each element. My guess is that you won’t see any significant changes if not fully implementing the Red Sea reef recipe program. Your corals are doing great and healthy. Why bother making some changes to stress out your corals that are happy with your existing environment. My simple thought is “ don’t fix anything if it ain’t broken”. Thanks for sharing. Happy reefing :-)
@TheBioReef
@TheBioReef 5 жыл бұрын
ttnguyen98 yes - I agree I think the Redsea supplements are best when used as a program - their nopox will strip away all the nutrients which you then have to add via reef energy and color supplements. I totally understand the logic of not changing things that work. But what can I say - I love to experiment!
