Veettikunnu Island Nest is the best deep forest stay available in Parambikulam tiger reserve which is located in a remote island inside Parambikulam Reservoir. Veettikunnu Island Nest was an old Communication Outpost, subsequently it was up-cycled to form a tourism facility. Being remote, the island has negligible connectivity (including mobile network) and can be reached only through a 1.5 hour journey in a fiber row boat.

Availability of the accommodation is subject to the weather as it involves a 5 kms journey through the reservoir which is prone to severe wind gusts and waves.
Food is NOT included in this package. Guests need to purchase provisions (you are advised to buy food provisions before crossing the Sethumadai check-post) and our guides will cook and serve it for you.
The island offers a view into the reservoir sharing interstate boundary with Tamil Nadu. Often times Elephants and deer can be spotted swimming in the reservoir.
This remote accommodation is designed for adventurers who want to experience minimal living as close to the wilderness as possible; away from the noise, pollution, hustle of city living and NOT for visitors looking for a luxurious stay.
The package includes Safari in your own vehicle.
Groups of guests making booking in multiple accommodations in different categories of accommodations may please note that different categories of accommodations are located at different points in the Reserve. Therefore, travelling between them might be be difficult and also restricted at night. Read the descriptions of different types of accommodations to see their locations within the Reserve. The visitors will be accompanied by a trained naturalist and four boatmen employed by Parambikulam Tiger Conservation Foundation. All proceeds from the program is recycled to remunerate them and for conservation and upgradation of the Tiger Reserve
Note:
Check-in Time : 12:00 PM at Anappady Information Centre and Check-out Time is by 09:30 AM at Anappady Information Centre on the subsequent day
Even though the program includes 'Trekking', it is strongly advised that small children and those with difficulties in walking may refrain from participating. Trekking requires a certain level of physical endurance, especially since the reserve has Elephant presence in all trails.
Check-post entry charges shall be additional.
Schedule:
Check-in shall be completed by 12:00 PM at Information Centre, Anappady
Safari shall commence by 12:30 PM
Travel from Parambikulam to Veettikunnu shall commence by 02:30
Trek at island by 04:00 PM
Tea, Dinner and Breakfast shall be prepared as per provisions purchased by guests and based on their convenience.
Check-out and Return journey to Parambikulam shall commence by 09:30 AM

എനിക്കു ഓർമ വെക്കുന്നതിന് മുന്നേ എൻ്റെ കുട്ടിക്കാലം സ്കൂൾ അവധി ദിവസങ്ങൾ പറമ്പിക്കുളം ആയിരുന്നു. Father ന് അവിടെ ആയിരുന്നു ഡ്യൂട്ടി clerk ആയിട്ട്.. പിന്നീട് നാട്ടിൽ ലേക്ക് transfer ആയപ്പോൾ കേട്ട് കേൾവി മാത്രം ആയിരുന്നു അവസാനമായി പോയത് 8 th il പഠിക്കുമ്പോൾ ആയിരുന്നു .. ഇന്നും ഓർക്കുന്നു ഓരോ സ്ഥലങ്ങളും.. ഒത്തിരി നോസ്റ്റു.. കഴിഞ്ഞ കുറച്ചു മാസങ്ങളയി ഒരുപാട് ആഗ്രഹിക്കുന്നു പറമ്പിക്കുളം പോകണമെന്ന് husband nodu ഇടക്ക് ഇടക്ക് പറയും anagne ഇരിക്കെ ആണ് നിങ്ങളുടെ ഈ വീഡിയോ വരുന്നത്.. ഒത്തിരി നന്ദി 🙏🙏

@@DotGreen പിറ്റേന്ന് രാവിലെ ഐലൻഡ് ലേക്ക് കുറച്ചു ആനകൾ നീന്തിക്കയറി .പിന്നെ വേഗം പോന്നു. വെള്ളം കൂടുതൽ ഉള്ള സമയം ആയിരുന്നു അതിനാൽ sighting കുറവായിരുന്നു.

Detailed experience, We had a very unpleasant experience with the guards who accompanied us from check-in to check-out. We understand that this is a nature camp, so we did not expect any luxuries from the beginning. However, we feel compelled to share some feedback. Right from the check-in office, a troublesome guard joined us. He informed us that we would be traveling 4km by boat, but in reality, it was only about half a kilometer, with a travel time of just 20 minutes. Following our arrival, we went on a trek with this guard, and the sightseeing was indeed fantastic. However, after the sightseeing, our expectations were not met. The bed and pillow covers were not changed during our stay; only a minor cleaning was done after each guest checked out. Although a new set was provided from the office for each check-in, the guards neglected to change the covers. It was truly unacceptable to use bedding that had not been washed. After a dispute, they reluctantly made the change. The night was challenging with no power, fan, or light, accompanied by loud rat noises and mosquito bites. This environment was entirely unsuitable for children and the elderly. Despite the checkout time being stated as 12 pm, the guards insisted we leave by 9 am due to supposed waves. We contested this decision as there are no waves in dam water, as they claimed, but our arguments were futile. Consequently, we spent from 4 pm to 9 am in an unproductive standoff with the guards. We feel compelled to mention the names of the guards, ACHAN and THAMI, from the team we traveled with on June 6th 2024.

yeah i heard the same feedback from multiple sources 👍 regarding the stay i had mentioned it in the video that the stay is not good but the ambience and location is good... It is not at all suggested for kids/family for sure. I think you have to escalate this to the forest department 👍
