I imagine Alex was never happier to see a contestant lose, nor happier to bid farewell to a contestant as that Carmen. What a ninny.

I agree. Carmen was obnoxious and rude. She didn't want to admit that she was wrong. I was so glad that she lost!!!!

I have to admit, the judges really did make the right call on Carmen, even though she was upset. Specificity sometimes can rear it's ugly head. In this case, she really needed to be specific. It burned her.

She burned herself, and her bad attitude was very unbecoming. When Alex asked her to be more specific she went more general, and then she let six more clues go by without another attempt at the answer. She has no one to blame but herself.

In New York they often call the NY Post just "The Post" so thats why they were a bit tough on her with the answer

@@lilbluefoxie They weren't tough on her. Alex said right before he started reading the clues that the answer must be very specific. She didn't do that. She was behaving like a spoiled rotten brat and she didn't get away with it.

In this play, Portia gives the speech which begins, "The quality of mercy is not strained". Shakespeare wrote this tragicomedy after "The Comedy of Errors", but before his "Two Gentlemen of Verona". This play may have been written to compete with Christopher Marlowe's popular comedy with a similar theme called "The Jew of Malta". This play's female lead was played by Ethel Barrymore in 1925, Peggy Wood in 1928, Maude Adams in 1931 and Katharine Hepburn in 1957.

As Alex Trebek was saying Carmen had to be specific. The ruling was right. The Post could have been anything.

...and I thought Ray Winston who had a rough time with the Spoilers was a bad sport when he lost his last match to Marie. I thought wrong. Carmen did Ray one step further with her sportsmanship when she lost to Ilene.

To me, Alex was more loose on Double Dare than on J!, he was also more loose on most of his NBC Game Shows (The Wizards of Odds, High Rollers, Battlestars & Classic Concentration) than on J!

someguy23475 It's the right call. The Post could mean the New York Post as far as I know. Too ambiguous of an answer.

I love this show but I can see why people say it's too slow. They repeat the clues too often, especially in the Spoilers round. Once all 4 passes were gone, they could just bring up the spoilers and read the clue.

Holland is a part of The Netherlands, not a synonym for it. It's similar to how England is a part of the United Kingdom.

Because Card Sharks didn't debut until 1978. Therefore the theme is both Double Dare and Card Sharks

CBS's "Double Dare's" run was relatively short (December 1976 to April 1977) and some CBS stations did not carry the show. The producers liked the song and clapping opening enough to recycle the song for "Card Sharks"...it may be possible that NBC executives approved the production of Card Sharks for their daytime schedule for 1978 that Goodson and Todman had to rush in the development in the show to get into broadcast-ready mode to reuse the Double Dare theme for Sharks. The song was still fresh and possibly viewers in certain parts of the US would be hearing the song for the first time when they tuned into Card Sharks.
