You gotta be an idiot to not realize that those screws were i gurantee stabbing part of circuitry inside the stereo smh... I wouldve love to see you stab that back plug circuit off inside or short it out the second u plugged it in.. This is just dumb. Thanks! Yes I have tweeters but I’m not sure about subwoofers. (I do need to replace the speakers since they are going out). I didn’t have to do anything with the speakers, just straight color to color wiring. I didnt attach the orange wire since there wasn’t another orange wire on the other end to connect to. (I’m not sure what it does, the buttons on the unit still illuminate anyways). I ended up snaking the mic under the dash and sticking it behind the steering wheel and slightly above the ignition.

@@equinoxgts The speaker's I was referring to are called component speakers. They have a separate tweeter and a mid woofer. The illumination wire just changes, dims, the display when you turn your lights on.

I just bought and installed an AX7000 in my Porsche Cayman and holy crap what a difference it makes having a head unit with an internal amplifier!

Glad I'm not the only one with the orange wire. I see he just didn't connect his. I have a AX5500 and it tells you what the wires do in the manual. Problem is that the orange and white illumination wire should go to the orange wire on the Metra harness. I eleminated all other wires but 4. None of those colors match the remaining colors on the Metra bag. I'm going crosseyed looking at this now. I have 4 wires: brown/yellow, red/white, green/white, and brown/blue left on the Metra. Metra's bag says I should have orange, orange/white, and brown left. WTF Metra?

Just to add info the reason his is more complex is because he has jbl wiring. Pre face lift celica 00 - 02 only needs Toyota harness

The parking brake bypass works fine. This head unit doesn’t have video capabilities.

Soldering is definitely the ideal way. I only used heat shrink on like 4 wires and crimped the rest. Haven’t had any problems thus far

It should if you have the orange wire (I think) connected to power, but I didn’t bother doing it so mine doesn’t dim. I should probably do it but I’m too lazy haha

Usually you’d have to have it grounded to the ebrake which means certain functions like EQ or Bluetooth settings won’t be accessible unless the ebrake is up. Bypassing it just means you’re tricking it into thinking the ebrake is up even though it’s not, giving you the freedom to mess with your headunit

You could try finding the stock brackets at a junkyard or someone who’s parting a celica out of maybe eBay.

I’m assuming the speakers worked before the install, maybe double check your wiring and see if everything is plugged in? Also if you have a gts (which usually comes with a factory amp) use the big harness that I used. If it’s a gt, the generic Toyota harness should be fine.

Equinox Thanks for th reply, i had to do some research and it turns out the factory amp plug speaker outputs for the 2000-02 gts dont match up correctly with the bypass harness. like it plugs in, but the colors arent correct. i figured it out though so ima post what colors go to which for the 00-02. Did you get it installed? Did your SC430 have the Mark Levinson system or the base (Pioneer I believe)? My ‘04 LS430 has the Mark Levinson system which has a unique impedance not found in just about any other car stereo components. 5 years ago when I first bought it I wanted to add a more powerful sub in addition to the 8” factory sub but the impedance of all components in the system have to match. Essentially I would have had to replace all the speakers, amp, and head unit with matched impedance to add any component. Anyway did yours end up working?

I want to tell you that when I make the changes the car makes a very strange noise in front of the engine but it is only when I put the 4 speed.

It sounds like maybe your 4th gear is grinding which may be something to do with your synchronizers or clutch...I’m not too sure, google would be your best bet in finding an answer

Yes there is, press the option button and on the bottom of the screen there will be 3 icons, tap the third one and the screen will be off.

I guess the only way would be to unplug it or pull the fuse out for it (if there is one).
