@alicegorsen19682 жыл бұрын
Awe but you're wrong they're only easy to train if you know what you're doing & how to handle the Doberman Pinscher Breed, otherwise they will try to train you to their ways😅😂🤣....... I love them on my 8th one now since 1977 I've owned them....
@hammer144011 жыл бұрын
Dexter was a rescue and had terrible dry skin, we put him on Canidae dry food, omga-3 fish oils and thyroid replacement. he is perfect now. Leia is 80% European lines and is a crazy hard worker- no skin issues. she always smells and stays clean.

My doberman is 2 and half months old and he learned the command sit, come, and stay. They are not as strong as I would like it, but I am surprised how Intelligent the breed is.
@hammer144011 жыл бұрын
They apparently have different styles of cropping. There's a show cut- short medium or long, and there's a military cut. So I guess you could say they have "different "jobs. One's a military guard dog and the other is a beauty queen Show-girl! LOL. Dexter- the red dobie was adopted from the pound- they were going to put him down! He has been such a sweetheart. Frankly, I love the floppy ears but ...it is what it is. You save who you can and love them they way they are.
@hammer144011 жыл бұрын
I prefer the floppy ears too- but don't tell the hard core Dobermans that! they'll chop your ears off!

Thanks. The red dobie was a rescue. He was found wondering the street in Bakersfield. the rescue said that sometimes the breeder will crop the ears themselves! but another rescue said some of the vets just don't know how to do them. I like floppy ears too...maybe my next dobie. They are awesome dogs- love them so much!

Beautiful bookends. What sweeties. I got my first Dobie in 1975 and have never had any other breed. I've had US show bloodlines, Euro bred bloodlines (smartest, but sure NEED the training and exercise,) and backyard breeders' rescues. I currently have a red US show bloodlines boy from a DPCA National BOB winner. He has the worst skin issues, which are under treatment, and the sweetest temperament. I had 2 fawns from Euro bloodlines and they never had skin issues.

Love the breed. Have one myself, Keno. Natural ears and a docked tail. Got him from a breeder, thing is...the Breeder didn't expect for the imported Stud to be able to open up the kennel gate and get to the Dame. Thus...Keno was born! Champ lines and all.

GORGEOUS dogs! I am in LOVE with this breed.
@hammer144011 жыл бұрын
they were full grown. Leia is female and is almot 25" at the whithers. Her father was huge! maybe 28 -29 at the whithers which is almost too big. Dexter was a rescue so I don't know his parents but he is just a tiny bit shorter but now more muscular. This is a good size for Dobermans which are suppose to be medium dogs. Which is good cuz they already take up too much space on the couch and bed!

Dobies are the 5th smartest breed in the world..... I got my first Doberman Pinscher back when I was 13yrs old & I trained her by myself with a book that I bought when I got my first Dobie on how to train your Doberman puppy back in 1977.... I taught her obiendiance training before 5weeks was up..... She knew how to sit, lay down, shake, rollover, play dead, & was trained to heal on leash & off leash, & she knew how to stay..... One of the friendliest Dobies I ever had, & she was very protective as well..... I am now currently on my 8th Dobies who is 9yrs old.... I've also owned 5 Labradors, 3 GSD, & a few mutts in my lifetime.... My favorite breed is most definitely the Doberman💖

Finally; 7 different breeds were mixed to create a dog that was "designed" by human intervention. The great Karl Friedrich Louis Dobermann's vision was to create a muscular, athletic dog with Cropped ears and Docked tail. That was his vision. That IS what He created - That is the "NATURAL" look of the ("designed by man") Doberman Pinscher. I hope this shed a little light on your query. You have a nice day now...

The red ones ear cropping is actually a style you can choose. When I had my dobe's ears done the vet gave me a book of styles to choose from. It's all about choice, from the really long tall and thin to damn near all of it gone. I think the long tall and thin looks the best personally.

I agree it should be a choice. I rescued Dexter that was already C/D and Leia was from a breeder that came C/D. Will my next dobie be cropped? maybe not.

You should try to take "stay" a bit further. They seem like pretty intelligent dogs and they are both beautiful. I got my boxer started early he knows a lot of commands. For "stay", teach them to stay where they are while youre out of sight. Its pretty hard for the dog to keep its focus on the command when the one giving it isnt in sight, but once they get the hang of it its pretty awesome.

You are so correct. PETA and HSUS want to take more than just c/d'ing away from us, they don't even want us to have pets. We aren o longer owners, we are Guardians. My family has owned/shown and bred Dobe's 1914 and are now a 5 generation extended Dobe family. I just have 3 rescues at this time.....and one puppy-from-hell, a Toy Fox Terror who runs the entire show.
