i've never gotten plots like this. See, the way my mind operates is "Don't test the theory of the thing said to kill you." Candyman Bloody Mary, ain't done those, cause why tempt fate? Someone tells me watching a tape can kill me, my reaction would be "Ok, keep that shit away from me.". It's not so much i believe them, cause i don't, but it's a simple "Why risk it?" So there's where this leads me "Why the flying fuck would you even risk it?".

to be honest ring vs grudge was surprisingly good and stupid fun and the premise was simple. one of the girls got cursed with Samora to attack her by accident so her boyfriend said to get rid of the specter or to at least hold her off to get the grudge (kikyo) to fight her back to locate the well.

It's funny how in the trailer reaction for the Rings, Korey called the Ring 2, not only one of the best horror sequels of all time, but one of the best sequels ever. And in this vid he calls it one of the worst sequels ever. You can watch it for yourself.

Yeah I just watched that before coming here, so when I heard him trashing the ring 2 I had to look at the comments to see if anyone else called him out on it. Good observation. I guess in this clip he's only talking about the Ring 2's overall reception ("it was considered one of the worst films of the year", in contrast to the Ring being considered the best film of the year), not his personal opinion.

It's the whole "beginning of the year" syndrome, when studios release the worst films they've got on backlog at the start of the year because everybody's waiting for prime season to release the good stuff :P of course there are a few exceptions... but a downside for good films to release early is that they might be forgotten towards award season, whereas an upshot for bad films is the exact same thing haha

From the way you described it, the sounds like it was trying to be Sadako Vs. Kayako, or The Ring Vs. The Grudge. There's a subplot where one of the characters makes a digital copy of the tape and it goes viral. There's a college class that actively teaches their students about urban legends, especially that tape. There's a professor who's really invested in the whole tape myth. And on top of all that, two girls go out and buy a cheap, dirty ass, second hand VHS player just to watch it. And note that this movie came out in June of last year.
