@@RadiantMantra I think you know. It's part of the overall experience to show as well as describe the actual drive, otherwise what is the point of his show? The POV puts the viewer in the seat. The channels devoted to that exist for a reason. It's fun. Especially in the more exotic cars from the past where the dash and shifting in action is often fascinating. Look at Jay Lenno's Garage. It's great because he shows the entire experience of the sometime weird and often wonderful as well as narrates it.

@@kixxalot the dmc-12's soul was a tragically underpowered engine that sounded horrible. The Aztec had some soul to it, but it was also just ugly. It didn't look futuristic like it was from a movie, it was just ugly until breaking bad happened then it became cool for that reason alone. You gotta stop with the "it has no soul" argument. These are trucks, what truck has a "soul"? When people say a car has soul, they mean it has personality. Specifically with powerful cars, their engine sound and characteristics, as well as the overall feel gives it soul.
@kixxalot
@kixxalot Ай бұрын
For utilitarian vehicles "soul" certainly isn't that important, but as Doug said, people buy this thing not for its utility. They want to make a statement. To me then, that statement is "I got money but no soul". And to me a DMC or even an Aztec is cooler.

At least all the subjective scores, but definitely even some of the more objective ones like practicality or quality, seem to be constantly just wrong and unbalanced. One more reason for me to enjoy the chuckle every time as I skip to glance at it at the end of a video. ^^

Seems all the reviewers feel it's for a minimalist feel, reduce the stuff for minimalism. It has almost nothing to do with minimalism though. It's all about reducing parts. The best part is no part. Fewer parts means fewer assembly steps, fewer people to do the assembly, fewer supply chain issues to deal with, fewer parts to make sure arrive at the assembly line just at the right time. All this saves cost. It's about driving down the cost. The minimalist aesthetic is a side effect of this, not the end goal.
@iROMine
@iROMine 2 ай бұрын
@user-qh9lu5cl6n Incorrect. If it's anything like my Tesla, there are just as many "vents" as any other car. They are just hidden deep within the dash in one long slit and are still fully positionable like any other car. You do it through the touch screen. So if there aren't as many parts to it, there are probably more. But I don't think anyone has ever had an issue with them. So I'm all for it. But it's not what you think it is. It is 100% for not only the minimalist aesthetic but for usability. Being able to control any vent in my car from the driver's seat is nice, not to mention slick as hell.
@niceguy191

And now, after finally having reviewed the Cybertruck, it's time to give Doug DeMuro a DougScore: 1. Starting with the weekend categories and styling, Doug looks fine, not beautiful, he gets a 5/10 2. Acceleration is slow, I'm not sure how fast Doug does 0-60, but it's definitely over 10 seconds, which gives him a 1/10 3. Handling is ok, not spotscar level though, Doug gets a 4/10 4. Fun factor is good. Doug is pretty fun, he gets a 7/10 5. Cool factor is high, there is only one Doug DeMuro in the world, though I don't think he turns many heads because many people simply don't know who he is. Still, it's enough to give him an 8/10 for an overall weekend score of 25/50 6. Next up are daily categories and features, Doug is reasonably well equipped but still lacks some modern tech. He gets a 7/10 7. Comfort is great and gets an 8/10 8. Quality is fine, but long term reliability might be an issue, he gets a 7/10 9. Practicality is normal for a guy like Doug, only two hands and no second row get him a 4/10 10. Finally, value, and this is a tough one. Doug is really cool, but also quite expensive. He gets a 5/10 for an overall daily score of 31/50 Added up and the DougScore is...56/100. I have not reviewed any Dougs yet, but this is a high score and I'm thrilled to have been able to spend a day with him!

Is it me or is Doug WAY off with this review? The idea that its cool seems SO out of touch. I thought Doug had a real eye for this. But this has got me stumped. The idea he thinks this pedestrian death trap. With ZERO QC. Poor interior. Not good at being a truck. Not environmentally friendly. No driving assist. The wheels covers that damage the custom tires. The doors and trunks that people keep cutting themselves on. See Matt Farahs review. its one of the most honest so far.

@@ThingsHumansDo Yes, you can in fact reduce pedestrian deaths. High SUVs and pickups are inherently dangerous. When small cars hit pedestrians, the send the pedestrian onto the hood, usually striking their legs. When a pickup hits a pedestrian, it hits their body, and the high ground clearance sends them UNDER the car, which results in 3x more pedestrian deaths compared to a car. Also, saying that "all cars are dangerous for pedestrians, therefore there shouldn't consider pedestrian safety" is like saying "All people are capable of murdering other people, so we shouldn't arrest anybody for murder."

I saw a Cybertruck where Tesla was displaying their vehicles in a mall in Boston. It is HUGE! And awkward. It is big even compared with big American pickups. A week or 2 later I saw the first one I ever saw on the street. It looks equally out-of-place there! I think that once the novelty wears off… fill in the blanks. @@dr.albantross1686you do realize dough is like 6'2'' right? the average pedestrian adult is going to be around 5' 8''. either way it doesnt matter when you get your whole body crushed, then go under the truck, does it? not a hard concept for me to grasp that its awful~!

@@dr.albantross1686It doesn't have to be at head height to be deadly. It's the fact that it would hit a pedestrian at centre of mass that would kill them.

😂Doug describing raptor owners dissing on cybertruck is so true, it’s not like truck owners tow anything these day, heck my rav4 prime tows more often than my neighbors Ford Ranger 😂

Ford did a study on this and found that 95% of truck owners never tow long distance. 95%! Towing is a pathetic and sad male fantasy which no one ever actually does - they just want to say they can.

Awesome review Doug! Always enjoy your enthusiasm and your exploration of the “quirks & features” I’ve read a lot of your followers reviews, many being quite critical and just plain negative! As you pointed out , it’s not to be practical but rather rich people upping their cool factor. To all the “negative Nancy’s”… you go and build a truck!

I have never understood why a car has a brake light turn off when a turn signal is on. Granted we have the third, middle light, but make the turn signal it's own bulb, and make it amber. Red lights should be for stop only.
