The fact he lowered his OBS volume in windows sound manager, making himself quiet, not realising he did it, then chat both not knowing that lowering it was what caused the TTS to sound louder and saying it did not get quieter because of it making him turn up his microphone and making it peak, then gaslighting him into thinking they were trolling and it was fine, leaving the audio messed up for the rest of the stream, is truly what I think of when I think DougDoug.

Canonically yes. But because they were earlier models, the Child Brain Mangler didn't work as well as it does now and caused lapses in sam's mind that he dubbed 'the darkness'. He slowly spiraled off of that as reincarnation rituals were performed on him over and over to get it right

I don't know if anyone has said it yet, about elevenlabs and how the voice "cloning" works. Doug's right, it won't straight up use only the samples. My feeling has been that it for the most part just mixes a bunch of base voices to get as close as possible. Or something like that.

I'd argue that turning your math question into machine code, a literal binary set of instructions, and giving back the answer is like knowing and thinkink about math problems. We no longer do the math for problems like 1+1, we just say "2". For more complex ones we try to answer the problem in writing. Sounds like similar processes. Yes python guess work can get a wrong answer, but that would be due to the clarity of the posed question, and well shit, human minds can and might do that too.

The difference is the human thinks a false thing is true; the LLM has _no concept_ of "true" or "false". All it understands is whether its output looks right; the _meaning_ of its statements, and whether that meaning maps onto any external reality, is not only irrelevant but _unrepresentable_ to it. Asking it whether it's telling the truth is like asking you whether your words obey Ghurnian custom.

The only thing we need is an illusion of consciousness, since consciousness as a philosophical concept is so wide and unspecific that the only actual way to define if something is "truly" conscious is to ask people to see if they can agree. It's a matter of personal standpoint, not a thing something can or cannot have. If you don't believe in god and feel like your sense of self exists only because you've been taught to feel like you have it, then any function and AI is sentient, just differs in how developed this sense is. If you believe that your sense of self exists as a concept that definies you and your experiences, than no ai, no matter how conscious or sentient, will be sentient.
