“I just know it, there’s something wrong with my kids”
On November 11th 2010, cops enter Tina Hermann’s home after receiving a 911 call from her manager Valerie, who reported how unusual it was for her to miss a day’s work without telling anyone. The house is empty, and Tina and her entire family are gone: a suspicious scene reveals bloodstains, motor oil, a Walmart receipt, a missing car, but most shockingly, a women-size shoe print leaving the home, meaning someone walked out of there, alive, and as the community begins to hunt for the missing family, time is running out for Sarah, who is now trapped in ‘the house of leaves.’
You can donate for Sarah’s ‘Healing Hearts Memorial Fund’ here: fairfieldcf.fcsuite.com/erp/d...

I know. That manager was the hero needed in this situation ... without her concern and the fact that she PAID ATTENTION, there likely would have been no survivors all. She saved a life by simply caring enough to worry when her reliable employee didn't show.

You know, the manager made 2 calls BEFORE the one where she says there’s blood? 3 calls total-Each time the cops came out, they just listened and heard nothing, so they left. At least the manager was smart enough to look into the windows and try the door. It was unlocked! All cops had to do was turn the handle, & that poor woman wouldn’t be scarred for life seeing that scene! The DETECTIVES did a good job AFTER the manager made that final call. The BEAT COPS that came out TWICE & did jack-all: they were lazy.

After her father already had a case for domestic abuse, he shouldn't have been allowed near her, whether he hurt her when he was given that case or not, if he's supposedly dangerous after the trauma she went through the last thing she needed was to be near another violent person.
@colleenwhitman9040
@colleenwhitman9040 Жыл бұрын
Why would they abuse her? It’s VERY simple - remember this in the future when you wonder why people act like this, especially towards their own family. They do it because they WANT TO. And because they are COWARDS and BULLIES at the core of their being. They are not “ sociopaths or psychopaths” and when you give them that label they wear it like a badge of honor or as an excuse. Always first and foremost call them what they are - they are WEAK, COWARDS and BULLIES. they attack and abuse those smaller, weaker and often dependent on them.

The fact that she knew her employee very well and had the sense to call police...I mean the fact that she went to the house looking for her just because she knew that this was uncharacteristic is amazing. I like the way you guys highlight the lives and strengths of the surviving parties…I find it hard to listen to real cases since most of the time channels tend to focus on the aggressors and the “mystery”, but having the incident be told from the other perspective feels way more sensitiv towards the human lives involved. Though crime is still sensationalized, it’s no longer the criminals that get the recognition. Great vid!

Growing up I lived maybe five minutes down the road from the Maynard house, and was in the same grade as Kody. It’s staggering enough to hear people you knew died when you’re ten years old, but it’s even worse confronting the entire story as an adult with a fuller understanding of the world. I only realized last year that I watched them walk into the house that day, and thinking about it even still makes me nauseous. That being said, this is the most accurate video I’ve seen covering this case. Bad videos about this case were one of the biggest reason I’ve been more concerned with the ethics of true crime content in recent years. I’m very happy this was covered with such respect and integrity. Clicking in I was worried I might have to unsubscribe, but I think it’s safe to say I’ll be staying here a long time ❤

Her story makes me think about how evil people can be. She showed courage and resilience. I admire her. About 33 years ago I was kidnapped Starved and beaten by a cowboy in OK I met him through a dating service geared to horse lovers. My captor was not very well organized and I was able to get out by subterfuge and telling him lies he wanted to hear. He was always Looking for a way to hurt me. He wanted to break my face and when he Pulled his fist back to break my nose I moved my head to the left a bit so That his fist hit the metal pipe I was standing in front of. I loved it. I kept Telling him I wasn't afraid of him and wasn't worried. He wanted me to entice another woman to come with him from Juarez mexico. We drove there to meet her and her family. I speak and write Spanish well so I was able to tell them he was not a good person and was a big lier. They wanted to know who I was. I told them I was a horse dealer from LA and was heading back there now as soon as we were back in El Paso. This lady wanted marriage and this cowboy Wanted to smuggle her in. She wasn't Having any thing to do with hiding in the trunk of his car like this guy wanted. I wasn't violated or raped only because He was impotent. Lucky me. He hit me with a lead pipe because I didn't clean The floor good enough once. I had a few horses to school and thought of riding off a few times. But that wouldn't Work...OK is flat and there was no place to hide. I tried to call the sheriff office once when I had the phone to my self. But he had taken the mike out of the Phone so I couldn't talk. He wanted money and he would let Me talk to friends who were concerned. He listened all calls intently. He got the idea that I had property and several Thousand dollars of things still in LA. He wanted it. I let him think he Was going to get it if I could just Get back to LA. I got away by greyhound. I had Money in an account to get Away with. More happened but I am Grateful to God I got away as it could have been so much Worse.😭😨

It might be similar to hoarding. Some hoarders do it because it makes them feel protected/shielded from the outside world. But honestly, who knows.

This video omitted that the killer hid the two bodies in a hollowed-out space in a standing tree trunk in the woods. There was a flash of a photo of the tree trunk in the beginning of the video. I saw a more explicit video on this psychopath. It shouldn’t have been omitted.

Holy shit its this story! This fricken manager has a sixth sense for danger or something, she is a hero and i wish more people were like her. Instead of calling the police who may have just shrugged it off as a teen not coming to work and a mother being busy, she was worried enough to go physically check on them.

Oh my god! I know Valerie Haythorn! I live in Mount Vernon, Ohio. Which is right next to Howard, Ohio. I was an employee at the local Walmart and she was my team lead for a while. I knew she used to work at a DQ a long time ago but I had no idea that she actually helped to solve this case! It feels so surreal to see and hear about people I knew on a true crime channel. Valerie was honestly a fantastic person and a hero.

She asked a second too late but I’m glad Elizabeth asked if she was okay with hugs before fully hugging her. Some people who underwent extensive trauma especially sexual trauma can’t handle touch from strangers. It’s very triggering. And of course some people without trauma don’t like being touched either. It’s always best to ask before touching someone else because you never know
