If you haven't watched my previous video celebrating the man, the legend, Dr. Robert Atkins, start there: • Celebrating Dr Atkins...
In this follow-up video, I'm giving credit to other doctors and researchers who were also trying to educate the public (and other doctors) that it was excess sugar and starch causing metabolic mayhem and the "diseases of civilization" and that it was NOT the red meat, the saturated fat, or the dietary cholesterol.
Highly recommended video on "Paleopathology" by Dr, Mike Eades:

So excited my husband found me copy of Dr. Atkins book at goodwill. I had a copy back in 1999. He's making me wait til Christmas to read it though.

Parallel to Dr Atkins, Dr Joseph Kraft was also making huge impact on collecting and eventually documenting the many different levels of insulin response and resistance.

My first introduction to low carb was in 1999, from a mimeograph sheet that a former bodybuilder gave to me. The claim was that it was the "Mayo Clinic diet", given to heart patients for rapid weight loss. I'm sure many folks have heard the story. I lost 40 lb in one summer using that old mimeographed sheet. In the last few years since I've been reading everything I can on the history of ketogenic, low carb and even the proto-carnivore approach of Blake Donaldson in the 60s, came to realize that there was some germ of truth in the "Mayo Clinic", which of course today's Mayo Clinic wants nothing to do with! In just over a year I lost 120 lb before my 60th birthday. I've kept it off for a year now.

I get this uneasy feeling that other medical issues such as myopia and cancer already have the cause, mechanism and cure already figured out, we just don’t know about it because of all the noise out there.

My tripod came with a remote. You can pause and come back. Then I edit in an app. Don’t leave the screen. Also dr Atkins died in April of 2003. I remember so well because I just had started the end of January and broke my ankle in two places on March 6. I kept on the diet I lost 25 pounds by Easter that year. I was really criticized by my family. And then when he died I really got it!!!

Hi Amy. Thanks for this additional information. I've been collecting the work of these people for awhile now. Dont forget Dr Donaldson - Strong Medicine and the work of Dr Salisbury. When friends and family think low carb/keto/carnivore is some new fancy fad I can refer (wave these books in their faces) them to all these people who knew the facts long ago. Merry Christmas!

Everyone is different but in my N=1 experiment, 15 yrs ago on Atkins I lost a lot of fat, I also lost a lot of muscle, bad excema, and was tired and unable to exercise on it. Fast forward to now and I've been on Carnivore for 3 months and while losing a lot of fat, my muscle has stayed and I feel much more energized and able to exercise with no skin issues.

Thank you for honoring Dr Atkins! Today’s MDs that are traveling in this same lane should be able to relate to the efforts to discredit Dr Atkins. Big Pharma, Big Food and others that profit from people being sick don’t like this message. Drs Fung, Berry, Bosworth, etc, you have tasted a small amount of what Dr Atkins was up against.

The authors of these books were ahead of their time. I remember when many of these books was published (well, Yudkins was before me). I was sure they were going to kill people. Now I am ketogenic all the time, and healed my T2D using a keto lifestyle. How things change. I wish I had taken their advice years ago.

Alzheimer's Off topic - maybe Amyloid Plaque is simply a redirective (reroute mechanism) for brain cells because they are completely full of glucose which causes them to die off, kinda like a roadway closure detour sign. Maybe the glucose causes the shut down because it is pushed in unlike ketones that are pulled in, once the cell is full then it's game over for the cell. Just my opinion.

Remember those anti drug videos in schools in the 80s and early 90s?🤨 Wouldn't it be great if at some point the replacement for those drugs like weed and crack...was processed sugar and products with glucose/fructose corn syrup and msg?😁😉
