Very clear and precise but, I have a raised psa due to having chronic prostatitis , this should be explained that any inflammation could raise the psa, and not just cancer.

Outdated biopsy method: get MRI images, and if need for biopsy, do MRI guided biopsy

How many PSA tests did you have Dr Israel Schwarzman? Probably none

This biopsy procedure has been seriously understated IMO. First the needles aren't little sowing needles. They need to extract tissue. There's actually 12 of them, so they get 12 samples. This procedure has some serious risks. The needles have to go through the rectum and there's a potential issue with bacteria and infection. The trigger level of 4 for your PSA isn't scientifically derived. It was an arbitrary made up figure. They could just as easily has used 8 or 10 or 15 or whatever - that tells you a lot. After this procedure you are going to feel very sore for a while - of course you are, they've just extracted tissue out of you with a spring loaded gun with 12 large needles! Yes, there will be blood as you recover. As others have stated, the MRI is a better way, however I would suggest that you watch it's progress and only get any test if absolutely necessary. You should be fully aware that a small percentage of people die of prostate cancer. Most people don't get the aggressive cancer. Also, you should also be aware any activity like riding a bike could potentially stimulate the prostate and give a high reading. Always get a 2nd test!!

I agree. Remember, PSA rises with age normally. Take your time, and look at your PSA numbers over time. If there's a significant climb (some oncologists say 0.35/year, some say 0.75/year) then further investigation is needed. Only get a biopsy if it's a targeted biopsy: guided by a previous MRI. Otherwise, it's just a painful fishing expedition which misses at least 30% of cancers. And for 75% of men who undergo a biopsy, there never was a cancer in the first place. Don't be in a hurry to escalate.

In fairness. In my particular case the biopsy was uncomfortable but not that painful. No cancer. Some blood in semen,stool urine. 5 years ago I'm 68. PSA of 6 then. 8 now. No more biopsy for me.

Good to hear. So what was the cause of your 10? I just got a 10.4. I'm 67. No symptoms and in very good health. No family history. I suppose my prostate is a little bit enlarged, but only need to get up once in the night and flow is decent most of the time. Sometimes there is some urgency, so it must be a little enlarged. I've been doing prostate massage for a couple of years. I thought that might have caused it. How long would one have to stop massaging to let the PSA clear. Some say a few days. Others have said 30-40 days. How do they confirm that one's high PSA is just due to an enlarged prostate? Waiting to see the Urologist. It takes weeks to get in to see one. Thanks!
@somers202010 ай бұрын
Update. My Urologist says I have a pretty big prostate 100+ grams. He says he is 90% sure that is causing my high PSA. My PSA has ben stable, although high, for 9 months now, so I think he feels that indicates no aggressive cancer or it would have spiked higher in that time. If aggressive cancer, it usually doubles in 3-6 months. He says test PSA again in 6 months and see if it is still stable.

The doctor forgot to mention inflamed or enlarged prostate can increase the PSA level whether you young or old. But the first step is PSA then DRE exams. If the gland is abnormal then you do the biobsy.?

@@tubaeren4008 I mentioned to my GP that I was having to use the bathroom more often. That was the only symptom; I had no pain. He recommended a PSA test "just to be on the safe side". My doctors decided against surgery because of the risk of injury. Instead, I was started on medication (Zytiga) immediately to 'stabilise' the tumour. One year later, I had 6 weeks of standard radiotherapy on my prostate (daily) and then 2 weeks of 'cyberknife' treatment on a tiny secondary tumour in my spine. I am still on medication four years later. It has been tough but I was determined from the start to fight.
@tubaeren40082 жыл бұрын
thank you. you fought and you succeeded.hope it doesn't happen again 🤲 Did you pay attention to your diet? My father's psa value was 28. Now we are waiting for the biopsy result. My father is currently consuming nettle tea, green tea, pumpkin seeds, 3 liters of water. does not consume eggs, milk and dairy products.

It's very unusual; that there is not a mention, in this video of very common reasons other than cancer and prostate size and advanced age that would cause elevated PSA. I'm surprised that a licensed ufologist would not mention , prostatitis , multiple types of, or testing of the prostate after sex, or even manipulation of the prostate with a DRE. All causing elevation of PSA. Non information is a major reason why men don't see doctors, and did too early!
@abrahamkalichman68452 жыл бұрын
The reason why doctors of this type, don't want to educate the patient. The answer to a man with any raised PSA would normally be a guarantee for biopsy. I guess that translated to ,ka ching, ka ching. Unfortunately , men don't show up / what a surprise!!!
