It was a group of kodavas who saved the utsava vigraha of Lord Ranganatha. The lord was out of srirangam for 48 years. It was in tirupathi forests when the last 2 kodavas gave up their life in penance and starvation. This is chronicled in madura vijayam. Kodavas were Lord's (vigraha) body guard. Their sacrifice is remembered even now when the sri vaishnavites pray daily seeking their sathgati. J.krishnamohan

I am complete in support of kodavas getting a special ST like status, like people of north east get. They are a special group of people who have done special things for the land, defeated tipu sultan 31 times. They mingle well with others, speak native language along with their own.

Any community as per merits /rationale may be categorised/classified/declassified into a caste, but giving them separate geopolitical autonomy within a State will lead to future problems. Any community can do all kinds of rituals as per their ethnicity, but unlicensed firearms should not be allowed.

1:05. I think this is the genius of India or the world. Threats from unlawful external insurrecting societies will be there, but they shall be the responsibility of only elitisable volunteering sub-socicieties. The rest of the society (majority) can go on with the peaceful societal life. Otherwise, unambitious peaceful majority of population will also have to take part in the ab initio unjust hostilities.

They are very rich coffee planters in kodagu. Only to get tribal benefits they orgue. 2ndly if u go through history, they sidelined with British for benefits & got there estates as reward for sidelining with them. U can't get an name of kodava hanged / killed for independence fight. But in mean time u get lot of kodagu arebashe gowda hanged,& killed by British people. Yes I agree General cariappa & General Thimmaiah served india vert honestly & done there role as Generals. But the beauty is this 2 were recruited in British rule, served British army, after independence / portion, they often indian army service. 3rdly, not only kodavas, the same kodagu Arebashe Gowdas also have jumma land, & earlier they were exempted from arms license & even today all possessing arms. But this clever people dividing within the district. ( Divide & rule & sidelining with powerful)

That their language is also from north, not corrupted by kerala or karnataka. They don't want to call themselves Adivasis or tribals They don't want to align with the British because their alignment will be visible. Confused lot and now more confused because their land is half owned by corporates or Malayalis from Kerala. Both corporates and Keralites did not come with guns to take their estates, they sold it to them and now complains about Azan prayer. Funny!

@@jayanthlaxman9188 , They are well educated as well as rich people. Subramanyam Swamy, never visited kodagu & don't know there position. U know as on today coffee rates are in sky high ( almost 3 times compare to 2021 & early 2022 rate). Only the small district with very less population, only 2 mla, u can see lot of car showroom, malls almost in hobli / village level. & leaving luxury life. No kodagu locals aes available / working in agriculture fields/ estate. Now a days wherever in kodagu, especially ù go on sandy days, u can see only bengali, Assamese speaking people, came to work in estate. & no doubt, they tell Assamese, & bengali, infact they are all Muslim/ rohingya, talking in both language. Again being bjp bastion, all know, the truth, but bciz of labour shortage, they kept quiet. Here congress talking / manifesto says, that they pay daily wage of ₹ 400 under mnrgea. But in kodagu the rate of daily wage is varying from ₹ 600 to ₹ 1200, again working hrs reduced to 9 30 to 3 30. Including 2 tea brak of 30 Mon, & lunch break of one hr. . So actual working is only 4hrs / day. Again like software industry in major city, they should be picked / dropped at door step. ( But government says no job, but in kodagu outsiders are coming for work).

What about us in TuluNaadu? Is our present state of living any different to Kodavas in Kodagu within the State of Karnaataka? What about people in some Uttara Karnaataka districts? Don't they deserve freedom to develop themselves for a better living by separating from Karnaataka alike Kodavas in Kodagu? If Telangana can be carved out of Andhra Pradesh, Chattisgarh can be carved out of Madhya Pradesh, and Jharkhand can be carved out of Bihar, why not Kodagu, TuluNaadu, and some Uttara Karnaataka Districts in Karnaataka become separate States in The Republic of India? Dr Subramaniam Swamy, why only bat for Kodagu, why not for TuluNaadu and Uttara Karnaataka as well? You glaringly seem to be biased here favouring Kodavas, and ignoring others. Please do something Sir. In the Honourable Karnaataka High Court, please represent all of those wanting to become new States in India by separating from the existing Karnaataka State. Please don't disappoint us. Thanks.

First of all , kodavas are the original inhabitants of Kodagu and we worship our ancestors and Nature, Goddess Kaveri and our ancestors were hunters and gatherer, and we have clans system in our wedding there is no priest or any Hindu rituals followed, we have our own unique rituals, the gun is used only for ritual purposes, as a kodava , seeing the dwindling population of the kodavas getting the Schedule Tribe status is good for the community, in Karnataka caste like Lingayat which is in majority in number when they can get obc and ST status why can’t the kodavas who are the lest minority community in Karnataka, and we neither have the number or the political power that the other community enjoys in this state, so what Dr Subramanian Swamy is doing we welcome it .
