I think the joke’s in the title of the song “Lust for Life”, as Dracula consumes life essence. That might be obvious, but in the source material Renfield has a spider eat a fly, and a cat eat the spider etc. so he can eat the last one and consume all of the life force. Plus, combined with the joke at the end, it might be a glimpse at the Count’s personality. Vibrant, or rockstar. A new take. It also might simply be a way of showing this isn’t going to be a stuffy redo but a new modern take. So a lot of messages there. Hope to see it live up to expectations.

Yeah that quote is one of those lazy ‘witty’ lines that Moffat uses all the time and it’s such a poor fit with Dracula. I didn’t think it would be that good and I guess there are things to like in it but this series was pretty poor overall down largely to all the cliches of Moffat and co. The dialogue like that, the cheap ‘twists’ (Agatha Johnathan and then the modern day) that add nothing and take away a lot from the original, oh and the stupidity of episode 3 - Dracula and selfies aren’t really a good mix. It’s a waste of a series that will soon be forgotten which is frustrating when there has been so few good Dracula adaptions since 92, we’ve had lots of Dracula stuff that barely reflects the novel which is fine (Dracula 2000, the 2006 series, the 2013 series, Untold and this series) but nothing that actually reflects the novel and it’s characters properly. The next film is supposed to be set in modern day and I’m sure they think that will make it more interesting but we’ve done that several times with Dracula and it has been almost 30 years since we’ve done a proper adaption. Since none of the closer adaptions on film have even tried to get the novel ‘right’ there really is no excuse to set it in modern day and dick around with all the characters and plot points again.

Because if you did it would probably be the longest film ever. Thats one hell of a book and with all the characters, plot and everything that's involved in it including Drac' s speeches you must be looking about five hours. Plus. I am looking forward to this one though make a change from the crap that was the Marc Warren version. Gotta say love the line " I'm undead not unreasonable " . Fantastic. Be something to get your fangs in to.

If Dracula is successful I would like to see Mark Gatiss and Steven Moffat do a BBC dramatization of The Wolf Man at Chillingham Castle and in the surrounding village of Chillingham in Northumberland because the atmosphere of castles supernatural atmosphere is similar to Talbot Hall.
