I wanted to talk for a bit about the Dragon's Dogma II microtransaction situation. I was so excited to play it after seeing all the glowing previews, but this whole greedy cash grab on a single player game has deterred me for the moment. Do you feel the same way?

What are your thoughts? Suck it up and play it anyway, or stand my ground and hope Capcom changes their ways? For those of you that have Dragons Dogma II, I have some other questions. 1. Is it true you can only have one character? 2. Can you delete that character, or are you stuck with them? 3. Are items like port crystals really as rare as reviewers say, or has it been exaggerated?

While I dislike micro transactions as well, I'm not going to let it stop me from purchasing and enjoying the game. If they were to make it a persistent problem that constantly advertises itself to me in the game, that is when I absolutely hate the micrtransactions. I'll have to see for myself though what Capcom has done.

Agreed. Microtransactions have never bothered me in the past. If they are being shoved down my throat that's a different story. What I hope is that Capcom didn't design to get us hooked and then frustrated enough to pay for something like fast travelling. Despite originally looking to get it on Steam I'll probably go with the Xbox. I'm not sure how well my laptops 4060 can handle it.

A great video! Definitely a controversial topic, my stance is that while I appreciate it as a common strategy to make more money (and its completely ok for a game to try to make money!) if the micro transactions gave others an unfair advantage or basically allows them to 'cheat', then that sucks for someone who just can't afford to pay but still wants to enjoy the game.

It's a great stance. What you're referring to is Pay-to-win and is a common strategy in free games. Typically those games will get you in the front door as it's zero cost then you'll realize you need to pay to get ahead. I don't think that's happening here which is great. I just wish it wasn't happening at all in a single player RPG. The reality is I'll probably buy it at some point.

With games like Helldivers 2 coming out at a reasonable price with non-scummy microtransactions this just seems like a rip off. Hopefully they see the error of their ways! till then, frog game 🐸

Don’t need the items, just buy the base game and play it. It’s great and you are missing out.

@@Payne. on steam, it’s a super good game and a breath of fresh air. I’m sure someone in an office on a top floor made them put the mtx in the game just bc. But it doesn’t hurt or help the game.

Haha, were you originally going to buy the game and this microtransaction stuff stopped you? I'm really curious as to how much this impacted sales.

@@Kovac_ spoken like anyone on the internet. Clearly I don’t work for capcom. It’s just so insignificant it doesn’t matter at all. You have a surplus of all these items after a few hours of playing the game. You would only buy this if you wanted to save time because you may work a lot or just not have a lot of time to play games

It will be interesting to see if the backpedal on the microtransactions or just ride it out until people don't care anymore. Dragons Dogma 1 had something similar happen on release.

@@Payne. To me it's the last nail in the coffin from a company that's done like 12 remakes of resident evil games. I won't buy anything from them ever again and nothing of value will be lost to me lol
