So, he may not think that is a practical weapon that human can use. And although this is just my guess, Miura might take a inspiration of the dragonslayer from Gundam's beam saber. There're so many types of gundam exists, but one of them wields long, large beam saber.😁 And that gundam was animated and on-aired right before berserk started.

people overlook the fact that the manga hints very early on as to Guts either not being totally human or being blessed by elves, or both. Also 130 for the dragonslayer seems like a very generous estimate, I think anything around 200 is closer to what it looks like.

My first experience watching an oversized sword in media would have been Soul Blade on the Playstation. Sigfried's a beast if you start getting a feel for his strikes. Shortly after seeing that however, it felt like they were everywhere. It took roughly another seven or eight years to actually learn the prime mover of the heavy blade in media.

I do not remember the name of the channel, but there is a guy that made a build of the dragon slayer out of a slab of iron that he cut with a torch and milled. If I am not mistaken, before working on it the slab was around 600 to 700 pounds so roughly 250 to 300 kg. After the milling, the final version of the blade only, without handle and half moon "guard" was close to 400 pounds, so more or less 160kg . Also during the whole process, the only way to move the blade was with a seated lift. Even adjusting the position for the mill was nearly impossible without it. If I find the videos again I'll let you know.

Dragon Slayer Weight should be between 300-350 kilograms; due to known measures (1.9 mts length & 45 cms width, lets say its depth is around 10 cms) and a 7.874 grms/cm^3 density (iron density) There are 85.5K cm^3 (in a perfect rectangular prism) times the density of iron, there are supposedly 637K grams or 637 kgs. Now we subtract 50% of this result since the swords edges are angled (less volume = less weight), and considering the tip is not rectangular, we're left with a weight of around 318 kgs but give or take since the 50% of weight we substracted is an educated guess.

I hope it's mentioned in the video but I remember seeing some guy who unironically was training himself (and others, apparently) to wield a sword like that. So I guess it's possible even if you weren't trained to do it since you were a kid, but the latter helps

in my head cannon, the reason why Guts can use dragonslayer is 3 reasons. 1.The dude is the pinacle of training, both mentally and physically and to a degree spiritually. He has the will to use the weapon, he knows how to use a weapon beyond his size, and he is absolutely BEEFED and genetically gifted to be able to use said weapon. 2.Because of how he was born, there is a part of me that thinks that he isnt entirely human, or at least he is not entirely of the Berserk world pre Astral plain tomfoolery. Whatever latent power he has is probably, if not already fully realized, gradually showing itself as he continues his Genocide on Demonkind. When I first saw the buster sword in ff7 all those years ago when I was like 7-9 ish I thought it was sick. I couldn't really resonate with it. It just didn't give me that vibe. Then I started reading berserk, and damn dragonslayer is just a beast of a weapon.

It was the final work of art from godo just before he died and godo is a dwarf and hannar knows him so godo probably enchanted the sword. Just an assumption tho because it makes sense

if they drill a couple holes in the middle of the sword it would be way lighter, still as durable and a lot faster therefore... a little bit of sharpening and the sword would have its massiv size, still a lot of weight (up to -25% for the holes) but even more incredible speed and still simple enaugh because its just some holes to lose a bit of weight

I mean u basically said it urself but i don't think the DS needs or should get an upgrade. It is part of Guts and represents what a mortal can or can not achieve. For a long time now the manga has shown us that Guts has reached his limit of things he can achieve by fighting. In fact since he got it that was the entire concept of the Berserk Armor with him being more and more injured everytime he uses it. There is simply no way for a human to defeat a god by physical force, ofc i'm not talking about the see "god" but the literal gods aka the God Hand.

It's blade length is 6' (178 cm) with the handle being an additional 14" (35 cm) this is also canon. Guts wields a long sword at age 5 weighing about 4 lbs, (2 kg) a great sword at 9 weighing double that, and a specialized sword at 16 weighing 12 lbs (5 kg). This is when he becomes the hundred man slayer, and I quote. "My sword is three times as thick, and does three times the damage of a normal sword." On average, even great swords never really get above 4 lbs. So it's safe to say his was 12. He then gets another specialized sword, even thicker and heavier. At least Double the weight of his previous weapon. So now we're looking at something between 24 and 34 lbs. (11-15 kg) Dragon slayer is made of common steel. Guts always wields Dragon slayer 1 handed because he's only got one hand.
