That was a pretty good build! Nice blend of weathering techniques and great explanations to why and what. Got myself this kit in a white Dragon box an look forward to build it!

Great build, I have this kit in my stash. Just a quick note about the red primer. It was applied before the zimmerit was applied so you would not see it in areas where the zimmerit was applied unless the zimmerit was damaged. You have inspired me to make this kit the next one I build.

@@matthewpeters9620 Be aware there’s two versions of this kit released by Dragon, but with the same prooduct number: One with vinyl DS tracks (which has hollow guide horns, and from what I understand is historically correct, if that’s important) and one with the single link plastic “Magic Tracks” (guide horns not hollow).

I have never seen period reference of black C-hooks or other tools. Nice result though. I never took my mid review past a base coat.

This was a commission build and there were many aspects of the paint job that were requested specifically by the client.

The forward bulges on the handles of the wire cutters were the same color as the handles themselves.

@@HammerheadModelMaking I've put off building a Tiger for years because the rivet police had kind of taken the fun out of it. But, I bought the Big 3 box of Takom Tigers and am just going to go to town on them.

Lovely paint job I hope you put it on a better diorama as the wheels dont sit on the tracks top or bottom,we all live and learn,keep going😊

For sure, this was my first dragon kit in nearly a decade, and it does require a bit of a learning curve! Will do better on the next one.

Hi mate, late comment, great vid, given u r thinking of building carious tiger, should remove the key shield symble at the front, that is the 1st ss panzer division Michael witmanns unit, carius is regular army and was part of 502,

Yes, you are correct about the markings, however, this was a commissioned project and the client requested the markings.

which one Red primer exactly did you use?

Here is the primer I used for this project: Rust-Oleum 249086 Painter's Touch 2X Ultra Cover, 12 Fl Oz (Pack of 1), Flat Red Primer, 12 Ounce a.co/d/2zeLcAp

Great build... as you wrote "going off the kit instructions" so you didn't get lost in details. Which paint did you use for the red primer?

Thanks, for the red primer I used Rustoleum's 2X primer in red out of the spray can. Its not a perfect match for German red primer, but its close.

How good is this zimmerit compare to home made or pre made zimmerit?

It wasn't bad, it felt a little soft/shallow to what I would consider a good zimmerit, but considering there aren't many kits out there with the zimmerit molded on, it worked well enough.

Couple things. There are pictures of screens being missing so you could have put the other on. As to tge screens? They are a loose fitting screen so easy thing to do take a pencil or something round and push down the areas of screen not on the actual deck parts of the tank. It adds an easy realistic touch.

wrong insignia. Otto served in the 502nd heavy panzer battalion, your tank has insignia of the liebstandarte division.

That was a decision by the client, he requested that insignia as well as the kill rings on the barrel of the gun.

Attention,Otto Carius n'a jamais fait partie de la Waffen donc pas de Simple Dietrich sur le glacis frontal. De plus,Dragon s'est trompé,le 217 n'a jamais été rouge,noir l'hiver sur camo hivernal et blanc l'été. Cordialement.
